12 best life extension vitamins for hair and nails
There are several vitamins and nutrients that are commonly associated with promoting healthy hair and nails, which can indirectly contribute to a perception of life extension for these aspects of your overall health. Remember that while these vitamins and nutrients may help improve the condition of your hair and nails, they are not a guarantee of life extension, and their effects can vary from person to person.
Biotin (Vitamin B7): Biotin is often touted as a key vitamin for hair and nail health. It plays a crucial role in the production of keratin, a protein that makes up the structure of hair and nails. Biotin supplements are commonly used to improve the strength and thickness of hair and nails.
Vitamin E: Vitamin E is an antioxidant that helps protect the cells in your body from damage. It can contribute to healthier hair and nails by promoting circulation to the scalp and nail beds, potentially aiding in growth and strength.
Vitamin C: Vitamin C is essential for collagen production, which is a protein that supports the structure of your hair and nails. It also has antioxidant properties that can protect against damage and promote overall health.
Vitamin A: Vitamin A is important for cell growth, including the cells that make up your hair and nails.Adequate vitamin A intake can help prevent dryness and brittleness.
Vitamin D: Vitamin D is crucial for overall health, including that of your hair and nails. It supports the absorption of calcium, which is important for nail strength, and can help prevent hair loss.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids: These healthy fats, found in fish oil and flaxseed oil, can promote hair and nail health by reducing inflammation and supporting the overall health of hair follicles and nail beds.
Zinc: Zinc is a mineral that is necessary for the development of hair and nails. It can help prevent hair loss and brittle nails when consumed in appropriate amounts.
Iron: Iron deficiency can lead to hair loss and brittle nails. Ensuring you have sufficient iron intake can help maintain healthy hair and nails.
Collagen Supplements: Collagen is a protein that provides structure to your hair and nails. Some people take collagen supplements to support the health and appearance of these tissues.
B Vitamins: In addition to biotin, other B vitamins like B5 (pantothenic acid) and B12 can also contribute to hair and nail health by promoting cell growth and overall tissue health.
While these vitamins and nutrients can be beneficial for hair and nail health, it's essential to maintain a balanced diet to ensure you get a wide range of nutrients. If you're concerned about your hair and nail health or considering supplements, it's a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or a registered dietitian who can provide personalized advice based on your specific needs and goals.

By comparison, you might have to take up to 100 same-size saw palmetto capsules to get the same amount of plant sterols in just 1 Super Beta Prostate." So, no, it does not contain saw palmetto. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the collagen mg dose in four tablets |
Answer: | Check out the manufacturer's website and click on FAQ at bottom of home page. There they describe their use of bristles and wood handles.WWW.Kentbrushes.Com. Boar bristles are definitely used on the OG2 style. |
Question: | Are these vegan |
Answer: | The medium soft boar bristle is kind to scalp, as opposed to the sharp bristles used by people with snarly hair. As a senior myself, I use the Kent brush noted, which is actually made for a man. But check the shelves at a good department store selection; also ask you favorite beautician, as they know what is new and best for most hair conditions. The nice thing about brushes is that they are kind to your scalp, and real bristle trumps the plastic imitations. Working with one's hair is one of the simple pleasures, and keeps one looing presentable. Scout around and select something that feels good. It is something you will use every day! |
Question: | Do you like this product |
Answer: | It's pf01 |
Question: | Did you find this supplement to benefit your hair |
Answer: | I've used these brushes for years with good results. My last one lasted over ten years. I have fine hair, so I can't say from experience whether this brush is good for thicker hair. The bristles are quite stiff, and I feel them brushing my scalp when I use it. However, the bristles might be too short on this one to make it all the way through really thick hair. You might want to look for one with longer bristles. |

Biotin is an unnumbered member of the water soluble B-complex family, normally only required in minute amounts. Biotin is used as a cofactor of enzymes involved in fatty acid metabolism, gluconeogenesis, and amino acid catabolism, and is essential in maintaining metabolic homeostasis. Biotin plays an important role in metabolic functioning as a coenzyme carrier of activated carbon dioxide in the TCA cycle (also known as the Krebs cycle). In its coenzyme form, biotin synthesizes glucose from non-carbohydrate sources, and synthesizes and breaks down certain fatty acids and amino acids.

Vitamin D and Your Brain
Vitamin D is important at all life stages, but especially so as we grow older. Here’s why:
Optimal serum levels of vitamin D (serum means “in your blood”) corresponds to maintaining one’s cognitive ability, especially as we age.
Plus, some people don’t get the opportunity to go outside as much as they age—so take vitamin D.
Bone Support
We know that calcium is required to help keep your bones strong, especially as you age.
But how does your body get calcium into your bones? The answer is, it uses vitamin D (along with vitamin K and certain trace minerals).
Vitamin D helps get calcium into your bone matrix, which in turns supports strong bones.
Heart, Blood Pressure & Beyond
Vitamin D also helps regulate calcium balance in your bloodstream (vitamin K helps too).
Vitamin D may also help your body inhibit excess levels of an enzyme called renin. Doing so helps maintain already normal blood pressure levels.
In addition to all of this, getting enough vitamin D3 is also important for your immune system.
How much is enough vitamin D3?
The recommended daily intake (or RDI) of vitamin D3 for adults and children older than four years is only 20 mcg. But this will only keep you from not getting enough vitamin D to function.
We recommend that adults get between 125 mcg and 200 mcg of vitamin D3 every day. If your multivitamin is already delivering between 25-75 mcg of vitamin D, a stand-alone supplement like this one is the perfect pairing.
If you don’t know how much vitamin D3 you should take (or you’re concerned you’re not getting enough), there’s a blood test called a 25-hydroxy vitamin D blood test. Make sure to review the results with your medical advisor.

Question: | Does this contain GMOs |
Answer: | I have no knowledge of Life Extension's sourcing of ingredients but cannot imagine how the ingredients contained in Bone Restore could be GMO as they are not animal based ingredients or plant based ingredients as far as I can tell. |
Question: | why does this have maltodextrin in it |
Answer: | I researched this myself upon receipt of the product this afternoon. I suspect it is being used in this case as a preservative, and possibly to increase absorption. Milligram quantity is unknown. Maltodextrin has an even higher glycemic index (GI) than table sugar, which can cause a spike in blood sugar shortly after taking it if the content is high enough. It would be an excellent transparency move for the company to clarify the details here... |

Question: | Why is there a legal disclaimer that this product can expose you to chemicals including lead? Is there lead in this vitamin? And what other chemicals |
Answer: | I am not 100% sure. But I suspect you find something in every supplement if it has to go through a process of making it. The best thing to do it call the makers directly. They have a staff that is very well educated and know more than I can share. I have been using it for a while and I have not had any visible negative effects. |
Question: | what is the expiration date on life extension vitamin d3 7000 iu we want to buy |
Answer: | I don't think they're all going to be the same, but I have had bottles that have been around for a pretty good amount of time and they've been fine. Assuming you take 1 a day and it's 1 person you're looking at 8 months. I think they'll last a year without problems, but there's no guarantee of the expiry date of the ones you're going to get. I've never had them be too short to consume in a timely manner however. |
Question: | someone made a recent purchase and could tell me the expiration date please |
Answer: | The bottle I received in 08/2020 had an expiration date of 04/2022. |
Question: | Where is it produced, made |
Answer: | almost all LE's products are made in North America |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where's the picture of the ingredients |
Answer: | Google and EDUCATE yourself on why we need iodine. |
Question: | Where the iodine in this pill comes from |
Answer: | The ingredients contain modified food starch, which can contain gluten. |
Question: | Is there any Lanolin oil in this product |
Answer: | 5000 IU per Capsule |
Question: | How large are these softgels |
Answer: | I don't represent the company (Life Extension) but I did some research and found a question posed to them on their Facebook page about it, and this is their response: Maltodextrin acts as a carrier for delicate molecules during manufacturing. During the drying process, it's role as a drying carrier helps to minimize the loss of important bioactive phytonutrients. Maltodextrins also help extend shelf life and reduce microbial contamination. We have not seen any scientific evidence in support of trace quantities of maltodextrin negatively impacting an individual’s health. The maltodextrin used in Life Extension brand supplements is highly purified and does not contain MSG. The amount of maltodextrin used in Life Extension supplements is a trace amount and is too small to be a significant source of carbohydrates in the diet. The calorie contribution form maltodextrin is negligible for capsules, tablets and softgels. Additionally I read from another online source that Life Extension's maltodextrin is non-GMO. |
Question: | What are other ingredients in this |
Answer: | The capsules are regular size, and you take 1 per day. so 60 servings. |
Question: | What is the difference between pill vs liquid form of selenium |
Answer: | I purchased this product a month ago and the expiration date on the bottle is 12/2020. |
Question: | I've just came across selenium supplement but in liquid form. Can anyone tell me what's better |
Answer: | Each seller has their own ways. If it is a 1-Day Prime Ship, then you supposedly should get it in one day if that is what is offered to you. You should bring it up with your seller directly |

Immune Support
Selenium is a common denominator among some of the world’s longest-living people. Why? Because this trace mineral plays an important role in cell division, normal thyroid function and more.
Selenium is also a powerful antioxidant, helping to protect your body from oxidative stress, particularly in your heart and brain.
Antioxidant Support
Antioxidants help protect our cells from oxidation reactions caused by molecules called free radicals.
Antioxidants like selenium help quench free radicals, which in turn supports your heart, brain and other organs that can be affected by oxidation.
Like selenium, vitamin E has antioxidant properties, and works synergistically with selenium.
Aging
Oxidative stress is a significant factor that contributes to the biological effects of normal aging.
Selenium helps your body create glutathione peroxidases, antioxidants that support a variety of body systems. It’s also involved in CoQ10 utilization.
Selenium also encourages normal cell division, supporting your bladder, prostate, and more.
Thyroid
The thyroid regulates metabolism by controlling oxygen rates and calorie/energy conversion.
Selenium helps activate and deactivate specific thyroid hormones, encouraging thyroid function & protecting the thyroid gland from oxidative stress.
Selenium also plays a key role in regulating antibody levels that can impact our longevity.
Selenium & Longevity
Selenium is found in foods like cereals, mushrooms, and some fish. But your diet alone still may not be enough to properly promote your longevity. That’s why we recommend adding selenium to your daily routine.
The trace mineral helps your body by supporting antioxidant/free radical balance, maintaining normal thyroid & immune function, and supporting the heart, brain and normal cell division - benefiting your longevity.
For optimized selenium support, you should supplement with three complementary forms of selenium. Our Super Selenium Complex also contains a small amount of vitamin E to boost the benefits even further.

An avalanche of favorable studies has resulted in record numbers of Americans supplementing with vitamin D. Since it is virtually impossible to obtain adequate vitamin D from food sources, supplementation with 5,000-8,000 IU daily is required by many aging individuals. Overlooked by almost everyone (except Life Extension members) is the critical importance of vitamin K. If one is concerned enough about their health to take higher dose vitamin D, it seems absurd to miss out on the benefits of vitamin K. For instance, vitamin D facilitates calcium absorption into the bloodstream and thus plays an important role in maintaining bone density. Less recognized is the need for vitamin K to transport calcium from the bloodstream into the bone. Vitamin K is also required by calcium-regulating proteins in the arteries. Together these two vitamins help maintain youthful calcium skeletal distribution while promoting vascular health.

Answer: | Sorry I can’t answer your question. I take it to help my bones. Have never heard of this helping cavities. |
Question: | Is this d3 made from lanolin (from sheep), or is it the vegan d3 made from lichen |
Answer: | Our bones are a storage of calcium. This has a couple of minerals that occur naturally in bone like hydroxyapatite in MCHA. If you have bone concerns, guess what? Study the bones and what is in them. Even the units of osteons, compact and spongy bone ( the inside of the bone is like a web called tribaculae). Do you research to know what it needs. As we age we need to know what it needs and put in back. Weight bearing exercises are very good. Get weights, do them every night (: and eat right. This has vit c 100mg, D3 1000, k1 1000 mcg, k2 10mcg, magnesium 500, phosphorus, 500mg, free MCHA 4,170 (hydroxyapatite), boron, zinc, copper, no milk or soy. Speak to a doctor for a regimen if you are older and a woman to see if this goes well with your life and other medications you could have... just to make sure. This an excellent product, I hope this helps you! |

Vitamin D and K with Sea-Iodine
Odds are your multivitamin has vitamin D in it—and probably vitamin K as well. But how much? Along with iodine, these two vitamins are among the most overlooked parts of a nutritional regimen.
That’s because the traditional sources of vitamin D (sunshine), vitamin K (meat, cheese, leafy greens, and eggs) and iodine (seafood) just aren’t on everyone’s menu. So we made a convenient supplement that delivers all three nutrients in a single capsule.
The Sunshine Vitamin
Your skin makes vitamin D from sunlight (and indoor tanning devices), but that’s not ideal.
Vitamin D helps preserve youthful cognitive function, supports your bones and immune system and promotes endothelial function.
Vitamin D can also help maintain blood pressure already in the normal range, which is good for your heart.
The K Connection
Vitamin K helps maintain optimal calcium balance, which is good for your bones and arteries.
But what does “calcium balance” mean? Basically, vitamin K helps inhibit calcification in the arteries and promotes calcium absorption into bones.
By helping your body route calcium to where it should be, vitamin K promotes calcium balance.
Hold the (table) salt
Iodine is essential—so much so that it has been added to table salt since the early 1920’s.
But many people avoid salt. This means that many people unintentionally miss out on the benefits of iodine. That’s why we’ve included it in here.
Iodine comes from seafood—in this case, it is derived from two distinct seaweed species.
DEMONSTRATES PRODUCT SUPERIORITY
Vitamin D3 is known as the “sunshine” vitamin because your body produces it when exposed to sunlight. But because vitamin D is so important for your body, it’s best not to rely on sun exposure as your only source.
Vitamin K comes from leafy greens, cheese and eggs—which many people avoid. The amount of vitamin K in these foods is also scant, especially in the case of vitamin K2. So in many cases, supplementing is more desirable.
Your body needs iodine to produce thyroid hormones like triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). But because not everyone eats table salt or seafood (the prevalent food source of iodine), many people aren’t getting enough.
We took three nutrients everyone needs, but that many of us don’t get enough of, and combined them into a single once-daily, non-GMO formula.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it gluten free |
Answer: | On the bottle it doesn't state GF |
Question: | Why is there So much Iodine 1,000 mic in this, when you should only take 150 mic aday, for non preg women |
Answer: | 150 uG is only the barest minimum to prevent goiter IF you have no significant exposure to Fluorine or Bromine. Guess what? You're bathed in both and they displace Iodine. Not to mention that 60% of the body's iodine is stored elsewhere. EVERY cell in your body has iodine receptors. As a woman you should look that up, particularly if you have large breasts and you're older than 30. That 150 uG limit is an absolute joke. People in Japan regularly ingest dozens of times that and they're quite ok. Look at vitamin C, how the RDA is 60mg. Same idea, the barest minimum to prevent scurvy. However Linus Pauling administered it by IV at several hundred times that amount. Heck, I usually take a few thousand mg /day myself. The US RDA is a guide for the absolute barest minimums that did not account for the chemicals and toxins we're now bathed in. |
Question: | What's the source of the D3 in this formula? Is it vegan |
Answer: | D3 is for your bones. D2 does not do what d3 does, and you can take too much d2 and get sick.. Before anyone takes D3, or D2, get your levals checked from your Dr. |
Question: | How many micrograms of iodine are in this product |
Answer: | Amount Per Serving - Iodine from Sea-Iodine Complex Blend (organic kelp and bladderwrack extracts, potassium iodide) 1,000 mcg. Pls ignore our first reply as it pertains to the regular VitaminD3 product without the iodine. |
Question: | What are other ingredients in this |
Answer: | Vit E- 30 IU; rice flour, vegetable cellulose; leucine and dicalcium phosphate. |
Question: | What is the difference between pill vs liquid form of selenium |
Answer: | There is no difference with the Pill vs the Liquid form other than a personal preference of how you like to take your supplements. If you have additional ingredient, health or product question please call our Wellness Specialists toll-free at 1-800-226-2370, they are happy to assist. You can reach them from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. weekends ET. |
Question: | I've just came across selenium supplement but in liquid form. Can anyone tell me what's better |
Answer: | assuming that the liquid form as the same ingredients as in the "Super Selenium Complex", and head to head comparison of the mcg per serving, then most people favor the liquid form over the capsule form. But, others favor the capsule form since it is easier to carry and consume than a liquid form. In summary, it is all about the ingredients & the quality of the ingredients & manufacturing. |
Question: | How long did it take for you to notice a difference in how you feel after starting this |
Answer: | I've been taking this since my Thyroid was removed about 8 years ago and I've been taking the selenium for a few years.I'm not sure if it helps but I did notice a difference when I ran out. |

Two Per Day Multivitamin Capsules
A multivitamin helps fill gaps in your diet, so you get enough vitamin D, vitamin C and trace minerals like zinc and magnesium, every day. But the Two-Per-Day Multivitamin from Life Extension doesn’t stop there.
We’ve created a comprehensive formula that provides immune support friendly extracts like quercetin, free-radical fighting alpha lipoic acid, and nutrients like lycopene, selenium and vision-supporting lutein and zeaxanthin to support the dietary needs of your entire body.
Nutrients Your Body Can Use
We know we need to get the right nutrients, every day. But nutrients come in many forms.
The forms of vitamin C, quercetin, vitamin B, carotenoids and other nutrients we use in Two-Per-Day are ones that are highly bio-available.
That means it’s easier for your body to use them—which translates to greater benefits for you.
Daily Immune Support
Vitamins and nutrients like vitamin C, vitamin D, quercetin and zinc support normal immune response.
While you can get these nutrients in stand-alone supplements, a truly comprehensive multivitamin will have them too—like Two-Per-Day Multis.
This is just another way the right multivitamin will help you keep going strong every single day.
Antioxidants & Extracts
Some formulations stop at vitamins and minerals. Not our Two-Per-Day Multivitamin.
Get a daily dose of antioxidant alpha-lipoic acid, selenium for brain support, botanical bioflavonoid apigenin for cellular defense and more.
It even has lycopene for male focused support and chromium for to support already-normal blood sugar levels.
High-Potency: Compare Labels
Recommended Dietary Allowances (or RDAs) are just the bare minimum of a vitamin or mineral you need on average. But optimal doses, where your body gets the most benefits, can be much higher.
Plus, some really good nutrients don’t have RDAs at all. So, our formulators reviewed tons and tons of data on essential vitamins, minerals and other beneficial nutrients to find the optimal dosages for whole-body support.
That’s why our Two-Per-Day formula has hundreds if not thousands of times the RDA for nutrients like vitamin B, vitamin C, zinc, selenium and more. And remember: we also use the most bio-available forms of those nutrients.
Everyone should take a multivitamin. Choose wisely: Life Extension’s Two-Per-Day Multivitamin was formulated with your whole body in mind.
