Question:	Can it be used to light wood
Answer:	I pretty sure it would melt if placed inside as you state. Only the stem of the device should be exposed to the heat and remainder outside of the oven.

Answer:	I would steer clear of the analog models like this one. I bought this and mounted it on my smoker and as long as the temp is low, it is accurate. I bought a maverick redi chek a few months later (too notch) and realized that this analog model may creep way past your desired temp but display a lower temp. So the thermometer might show 230 but the temp is actually 300+. If you can swing it, I would go with the better model, such as maverick et732.
Question:	Can this be used in a kamodo style grill with lump charcoal
Answer:	Not sure of the size, but it smaller than 1/2" NPT.
Question:	Will this work with brass door knobs if I'm home alone and want to deter a duo of home bandits
Answer:	The drawing shows 3/8", but that is tight, so will need to ream that hole a bit. Or you could just drill a 7/16" hole, which works out well. In either case, be sure to start with a pilot hole or you will ruin the enamel coating of your BBQ.

Answer:	I think it would, it does a great job of starting charcoal for my grill. just need to make sure it will fit into the stove since it is fairly wide and keep in mind it is red hot when you remove it after the fire is started, you will need to have a safe place for it to cool off.

Question:	Does it work / have you used it with coal? (Anthracite for my coal stove, not charcoal). Coal is generally much harder to start than charcoal or wood
Answer:	I only used it with charcoal in a Komado Joe Grill; the type of charcoal is good quality as recommended by the manufacturer (their brand). This type of coal starts easily with typical coal starters (squares of compressed wood with wax). I bought the Looftlighter as a method of speeding up the process to light the coal - I was it on YouTube as a recommendation by users for quick starts to a komado style grill. Our experience is that it was not worth the time or money. Instructions show that you hold the wand near the coal and draw back after a few seconds and it begins to glow. the problem is that the glow is so small and the time it takes to fire up several pieces in the bowl, you could just throw in a few extra squares of fire starts and have the same effect. Komado style grills are designed for a reasonably slow heat-up to temperature before cooking. This is my experience; I don't know how it would translate to lighting a stove with anthracite.

Answer:	As I understand, fire generates smoke, so if you are lighting charcoal, there will be smoke. However this Looftlighter does not generate flames. One of the best methods of lighting charcoal in a short period of time without the smell or flames of petroleum lighter fluid. I was looking for quick lighting of natural charcoal (without fluid or fluid soaked packaged charcoal) and this is an excellent charcoal fire starter. Highly recommend, well worth the investment.
Question:	For the people who say it is the best method ever, have you used a propane torch? If so, how is this better
Answer:	I was using a propane torch before buying the Looflighter. Going from the propane torch to the Looflighter is like going from a flip phone to the iPhone 6. It lights much faster, charcoals are light in less than 5 minutes and you do not have to deal with wind and the surface area the Looflighter covers is much bigger than the torch.
