11 best cr123 batteries

CR123 batteries, also known as 3V lithium batteries, are commonly used in a variety of household devices and other applications. Here's what you need to know about CR123 batteries:

  1. Chemistry: CR123 batteries are non-rechargeable lithium batteries that use a lithium manganese dioxide (LiMnO2) chemistry. This chemistry provides a high energy density, making CR123 batteries capable of delivering consistent power over a long lifespan.

  2. Voltage and Size: CR123 batteries have a nominal voltage of 3 volts, making them suitable for devices that require a higher voltage than traditional alkaline or nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. They are cylindrical in shape and are about the same size as two stacked AA batteries.

  3. Usage: CR123 batteries are commonly used in various household devices, including flashlights, digital cameras, smoke detectors, and some home security systems. Their high voltage and stable power output make them well-suited for high-drain devices that require bursts of power.

  4. Long Shelf Life: One of the advantages of CR123 batteries is their long shelf life. They can be stored for several years and still maintain their capacity, which is especially useful in emergency devices like smoke alarms.

  5. Non-Rechargeable: It's important to note that CR123 batteries are non-rechargeable. Attempting to recharge them can be dangerous and may damage the battery or cause it to leak.

  6. Availability: CR123 batteries are widely available in stores that sell batteries, electronics, or household supplies. They are also available online from various retailers.

  7. Cost: CR123 batteries tend to be more expensive than traditional alkaline batteries, but they offer longer-lasting power, making them cost-effective in devices with high power demands, where frequent battery replacements can be a hassle.

  8. Environmental Considerations: Because CR123 batteries are non-rechargeable, they can contribute to electronic waste. Proper disposal and recycling of these batteries are essential to minimize their environmental impact. Many communities have battery recycling programs in place.

  9. CR123A: Sometimes, you may come across the term "CR123A." CR123A is essentially the same as CR123 and can be used interchangeably. It refers to the same type of battery with a 3-volt lithium chemistry.

In summary, CR123 batteries are widely used in household devices and offer a reliable source of power for applications that require higher voltage and energy density. They are known for their long shelf life and are a common choice in devices where consistent and dependable power is crucial. However, users should be aware that they are non-rechargeable and should be properly disposed of or recycled when depleted.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the expiration date on these batteries
Answer: Just got a pack in clearly printed 11-2029, so it looks like current stock definitely is sporting expiration dating!
Question: Are they rechargeable
Answer: Oddly, these batteries remain on the list (as of Aug 1 2015) even after I've put a check in the "rechargeable" filter (to stop seeing non-rechargeables). They show up as "rechargeable" even though (based on the answers here) they almost certainly aren't rechargeable.
Question: Why in the world are they not sold on Catalina
Answer: Good question! I live on Catalina and discovered Best Buy has NO problem shipping Alkaline or Lithium batteries. While there were reports that lithium batteries caught fire and were therefore dangerous, they have since been made much safer than they were. The new regulations were to be restrictions based on over 100 watt hour batteries and intended only for bulk shipments, not individual consumer products such as laptops or tablets. This did not however stop UPS or FedEx from refusing such shipments for some time. I suspect this was due to lack of understanding of their own regulations, staff training and education on their part. Instead they choose to blame shippers for preventing them from shipping simple products, Amazon included. For some time after passing that new regulation, I had to have tablets shipped to the mainland, then at great expense shipped to me from there or brought over by boat which made me wait long periods of time to get my purchases. No fun at all! If you call someone at UPS's hazmat department it's like talking to a brick wall and as if they don't have anyone who actually understands batteries working there at all. When I called about a Backup UPS (uninterruptable power supply), they had no clue as to if the batteries in them were sealed or not much less what an uninterruptible power supply is! Heaven help us...Now things changed considerably and I am able to get phones, tablets, and laptops shipped directly with under 100 Wh lithium batteries installed, and I quote "regulations limit the Li-ion battery to no larger than 100Wh" REFERENCE: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_transport_batteriesThis still leaves the question about these type of batteries still being restricted and I would love to hear Amazon's response to this. As I have stated, Best Buy has no problem shipping these batteries to me on Catalina, what is the difference between them and Amazon.com when it comes to shipping the same products? Best Buy shipments come through to me in the same simple packaging as Amazon uses, so I really do not get why this hasn't been changed and updated on their website and I am waiting for them to do so as there is no reasonable explanation for it.As you can imagine, I've had to learn a lot more about batteries than I ever really wanted to over all of this. I just wanted to buy electronics and keep them powered like everyone else, but no... I had to move to an island and complicate things. haha
Question: Can you list what other products use CR123A batteries besides flashlights? If you could be specific that would be even better. Thanks
Answer: We use these batteries for a personal ionic air purifier to wear on airplanes. https://www.amazon.com/Supply-Mini-Mate-Personal-Ionic-Purifier--Black/dp/B000B6CMZ4/ref=sr_1_sc_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1464806480&sr=8-2-spell&keywords=personal+deionizer

User questions & answers

Question: expiration date
Answer: You can stick them around the border to add a reflective red border. I don't use them because when you fold the landing pad, they get ruined after a while.
Question: Is the battery size EL
Answer: It's meant for the ground and comes with pegs to keep it from blowing away. It doesn't appear to float and I definitely wouldn't try putting it on a lake surface!
Question: how long these batteries can last stored before use
Answer: It did not come with instructions. My son showed me it is like folding some of his kids toys. I place the edge on the ground and hold it at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock and push down until it curves and bring my hands together. It's hard to describe, but it pops back into a folded position as quick as it pops open.
Question: Are these in original packaging or in ziplock bag (Repackaged
Answer: I have no clue but maybe you can contact the sellers!

User questions & answers

Question: What is the mAh rating on these
Answer: Personally, I never buy the so called premium batteries. I am partial to the Ray-o-vac because they are manufactured in Wisconsin where I live. I have used both Duracell and Ray-o-vac and have noticed no difference. The chemicals used in batteries are the same. The cases may be a little different, but a battery is a battery.
Question: When do these expire
Answer: I ordered them awhile back but it was 2yrs in the future.
Question: Are these the brightest for flashlight
Answer: Size C 1.5v we haven’t had any issues with these batteries we’ve been buying them for years
Question: Why does it say .04 cents a count when it's .53 cents a count? Very misleading, not happy
Answer: The information I found on the Arlo site says they require special 3V batteries. C batteries are only 1.5V so no, you cannot use these. https://kb.arlo.com/290/What-kind-of-batteries-does-my-Arlo-Wire-Free-camera-use

User questions & answers

Question: what does 1400mAh mean
Answer: It's the energy storage capability of the battery. The bigger the number means its able to run a given load for a greater length of time. Bigger is better.
Question: Are the 123A batteries rechargable
Answer: These may not be as evidenced by some of the comments, but there are 123a batteries out there that are rechargeable. Just search 123a rechargeable on this site.
Question: What is the difference between the red Surefire 123As and the brown ones? They seem identical, but the brown are cheaper
Answer: Surefire red, Surefire brown, streamlight, Panasonic are ALL made in the same Panasonic factory in the US, and of hte same materials with some very very minor tweaks. For example a streamlight will run marginally longer (4%) than surefire at 10 ma very low load, 500 ma low load, and 2 amp maximum load. Surefire will run 3% longer at 1 amp mid/high load. These are trivial. Surefire brown are completely identical to reds BUT probably RISKY here on amazon because it is not amazon selling, but third party sellers, who may have knockoffs, quality control failure dumps, or old stock. Get streamlight or surefire "sold by" and shipped by amazon, or "sold by" streamlight or surefire which are made by Panasonic in their US factory, or alternately US made panasonic.

SureFire 123A Lithium Batteries

Optimized for use in SureFire flashlights, SureFire lithium batteries pack a lot of power into a small package. And unlike alkaline batteries SureFire high-performance lithium batteries boast a ten-year shelf life, which means they will be ready when you need them, every time.

More Voltage

SureFire 123A batteries generate 3 volts. Alkalines, just 1.5 volts.

Less Weight

For a given size (battery volume), Lithium batteries weigh about half as much as alkalines but produce more power.

Higher Power Density

For a given size (battery volume), It would take two alkaline batteries to match the power output of a single SureFire 123A lithium battery. Spares Carrier is not included (Sold Separately)

Longer Shelf Life

Made in USA, SureFire Lithium batteries can retain up to 90% of their original power output capability after 10 years of storage, making them perfect for emergency preparedness use. Stored alkalines deplete themselves much more rapidly.

Better Voltage Maintenance

A lithium battery maintains fairly constant voltage for up to 95% of its life, depending on discharge rate. At moderate to high discharge rates, the voltage of alkaline batteries drops rapidly, making them unsuitable for use in high-output flashlights.

Available Pack Size

SureFire approved battery pack sizes are 2pk, 6pk, 12pk, 72pk, and 400pk. All authentic SureFire batteries are packaged in a factory sealed blister pack or box and sold through authorized dealers only

User questions & answers

Question: Are they the same as Duracell DL2/3A
Answer: 1500 mAh is the same as 1.5 Ah = 1.5 Couloambs/Second x hour x 3600 Second/ hour. the hours cancel out, what is left is 1.5 C/S x 3600S = 5400 Coulombs, this the amount of electron that will go through the laser and transfer its NRG to light. 1 C = 6.25 x 10 ^18 electron.
Question: Are these for canon sure shot
Answer: All is know is: Rated 3 Volt, capacity 1.55Ah
Question: Country of origin
Answer: I thought the same thing with the ones I ordered but had them tested. The batteries were ok - the security system needed updates! Once it was updated the batteries worked fine!
Question: this is good for ARLO cameras
Answer: It depends on what leupold red dot you are referring to. From what I have seen those tie the flat round batteries and not this type.
Question: The battery im replacing is #ub123a can i use the cr
Answer: That energizer charger will charge your batteries at too high a rate and reduce both the life and number of cycles of your batteries. The Panasonic charger that is often sold with these batteries will charge your eneloops at the correct rate recommended by both Sanyo and Panasonic engineers to optimize the life of your batteries, (300mA for AA and 150mA for AAA).
Question: Did anyone receive these batteries in any sort of real packacking or do they only come in a clear bag? Whats the reason for this
Answer: The question is between a "full charge" and the average voltage for the battery within a single discharge. To go from 1.10 volts to 1.5 volts or whatever may take 8 hours but to go from 1.10 volts to 1.28 volts (close to a full charge) requires less than an hour. The charge rates are actually deceptive considering a lack of memory effect for partial charges.
Question: What's the difference between cr123 and cr123a
Answer: Not any more.. PowerGenix had a Nickel-Zinc (NiZn) AA Battery that was but it still did not compare to the eneloop Pro / XX line. Remember that the eneloop Pro only has a 500 Cycle Life compared to the eneloop with 2100 Cycles.. But the Pro is a Higher Capacity Battery designed for devices like High Power Camera Flash's, RC Toys, High Draw Lab Equipment, Wireless Mics Etc.
Question: with so many negative reviews, why is amazon still allowing this product to be sold
Answer: Besides the change to the name (Panasonic bought Sanyo) and changed the name from XX to Pro as well as the packaging, the only real change is to the number of charge cycles the batteries are rated for (up to 500) and the milliamp (2550 versus 2500 - a bit longer run time between charges). Yes, you can still charge these batteries with your charger or any fast NiMH charger.TammieThomas Distributing
