One of the big people usually holds the pan for him while he brushes crumbs and such into it. One thing these are that is FANTASTIC is totally washable. My 2 yr old grandson throws food, so the brush and pan get gruesome. Some dish soap and water and good as new.

Answer:	I use it for getting crumbs off the countertop works fine and it looks nice so I can leave it on top of the breadbox. I don't believe the bristles are horsehair. The bristles are soft so they won't scratch or damage anything.

Even when I am sweeping, I stand the dustpan upright and it holds the handle straight up and never falls down. I really like this broom and dust pan!
