14 best cpap cleaning solutions
CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) cleaning solutions are products designed to help individuals maintain the cleanliness and hygiene of their CPAP equipment, including the CPAP machine, mask, tubing, and accessories. Keeping CPAP equipment clean is essential for effective therapy and overall health. Here's what you should know about CPAP cleaning solutions:
Importance of CPAP Cleaning: CPAP machines deliver pressurized air to individuals with sleep apnea to keep their airways open during sleep. Over time, moisture, oils, and bacteria can accumulate inside the equipment, leading to potential health issues, including respiratory infections. Regular cleaning helps prevent these issues.
Types of CPAP Cleaning Solutions:
CPAP Wipes: These are disposable, pre-moistened wipes designed for quick and easy cleaning of the CPAP mask, cushion, and other components. They are convenient for daily cleaning and are travel-friendly.
CPAP Cleaning Machines: Some devices, such as the SoClean CPAP cleaner, are automated machines that use ozone or UV light to sanitize CPAP equipment. Users place their mask and tubing inside the machine, and it does the cleaning for them. These machines offer a thorough cleaning process and are typically used less frequently, such as weekly or monthly.
CPAP Cleaning Sprays: These sprays are designed for targeted cleaning of CPAP mask cushions and other soft components. Users can spray the solution on the mask, allow it to air dry, and then reassemble the equipment.
CPAP Disinfectants: These solutions are designed to disinfect CPAP equipment by killing bacteria and viruses.Users typically dilute the disinfectant with water and soak their equipment for a specified period, then rinse and air dry.
Considerations when Choosing CPAP Cleaning Solutions:
Compatibility: Ensure that the cleaning solution you choose is compatible with the materials used in your CPAP equipment, including the mask and tubing.
Ease of Use: Consider how convenient and easy the cleaning method is for your daily routine. Some individuals prefer the simplicity of wipes, while others may opt for automated cleaning machines.
Effectiveness: Look for products that are proven to effectively remove bacteria, germs, and residue from CPAP equipment.
Frequency: Determine how often you are willing to perform the cleaning. Daily wipes, weekly or monthly machine cleaning, and periodic disinfection all have their merits.
Maintenance Tips: In addition to using CPAP cleaning solutions, it's essential to replace or clean your CPAP filter regularly, keep the CPAP machine in a clean environment, and replace your CPAP accessories, such as the mask and tubing, as recommended by the manufacturer.
By using appropriate CPAP cleaning solutions and maintaining good hygiene practices, individuals can ensure the longevity of their CPAP equipment, reduce the risk of respiratory infections, and enjoy effective sleep apnea therapy. These cleaning solutions can typically be found in health care or medical supply stores and are readily available to individuals who use CPAP therapy.

CPAP tubing naturally and regularly accumulates moisture, debris, and dust. This combination can create a breeding ground for bacteria, viruses, and mold. Failure to clean your CPAP machine may result in sinus infections, pneumonia, and exposure to allergens and mold. To prevent this, routine cleanings of your reservoir, hose, and mask are necessary. Fortunately, with Care Touch’s Pre-Wash Solution, cleaning your equipment has never been easier. Simply add a ½ tablespoon of the pre-wash solution with water, hand-wash the equipment, rinse thoroughly, and let it dry. (If you’re drying a tube, keep it vertical to prevent the water from pooling.)
Cleaning and sanitizing your CPAP equipment on a daily to weekly basis is important when it comes to maintaining its health and yours. Routine maintenance of your equipment should become part of your daily routine, but it can often be difficult to find the right cleaning product that won’t leave additional residue, or damage your skin. Care Touch offers you a way sleep soundly knowing that the air you’re breathing is clean, fresh, and crisp.
- CLEANS AND SANITIZES: Our Pre-Wash is perfect for removing dirt, debris, particles, smudges, germs, viruses and bacteria that may cause numerous complications if left alone. Unwashed CPAP equipment can lead to the growth of mold and bacteria, rendering your equipment potentially hazardous to your health. Regular cleanings will expand the life of your CPAP supplies and prevent illnesses caused by moldy masks or tubes.
- NEUTRALIZES ODORS AND SCENTS: This formula is scent free while eliminating foul odors that may naturally occur from regularly using your CPAP equipment. It is recommended that even new tubes and masks will require at least one cleaning before use, and this CPAP cleaner will keep eliminate the new plastic smell, while keeping your air fresh, crisp, and odor-free.
- IRRITANT FREE: Other CPAP soaps may contain harmful substances such as methlisothiazolinone and benzisothiazolinone which may irritate the skin or even cause breathing problems. Care Touch’s CPAP pre-wash solution has been carefully created with our customers in mind. Our unique formula is hypoallergenic, color-free, and safe for sensitive skin.
- CLEANS QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY: This cleaner will work on all types of face masks, reservoirs, tubes, or machines that can be cleaned with a liquid. Using soft dish soaps may leave residue or films, which extends the amount of time needed to clean your equipment. Care Touch’s solution makes the routine cleaning of your CPAP equipment a quick and easy part of your day. Each bottle contains 12 oz of cleaning solution, which will be more than enough to effectively clean it regularly.

Question: | Do you wash both the small short hose and the long gray hose |

Answer: | Off the top of my head I’d say between 2&2.5” wide |
Question: | Advertised as grapefruit lemon scent but i font smell it. Why is that? Disappointed |
Answer: | Approx 10 seconds |
Question: | How exactly do you dry all the water from the inside the hose after washing it |
Answer: | I wouldn't. Just get some colored epoxy and redo it. This glue is nothing more then super glue with an drying accelerant that drys in seconds. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can it be used with resmed air fit 10 for her machine |
Answer: | That was a real disappointment when I purchased this item. The one with mint is much better but was not available at the time I purchased the grapefruit. |
Question: | The picture shows a short brown tube hanging open end up. How can it dry? Wouldn't condensation gather in the bottom (middle) part of the tube |
Answer: | I hook mine up to my machine and turn the machine on, I have the heated tube, it only takes a few minutes to dry. My sleep therapist told me I could use this method and it has been working really well for me. (the inside of my hose is ridged so if I don't do this, it takes forever to dry). |
Question: | Is there a special cleaning solution that comes with this |
Answer: | Only once. Super glue is designed to bond to almost anything nearly instantly. |
Question: | Is this for the thin or thick tubing |
Answer: | I haven’t use it with contact but I’m sure it wouldn't hold to acetone, I’m pretty sure it’s just for water based glues |

User questions & answers
Question: | Has anyone who owns a Phillips Dreamstation used this cleaning system |
Answer: | The only time you need to put the CPAP lower than the height of the mattress is when moisture condenses in the tubing due to humidifier use. More humidity and a cooler room temperature make this more likely. If your CPAP mask drips water into your face, lowering the position of the CPAP machine can help, regardless of whether or not you use a hose holder! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does the little cup with the Respiclean not show oz, as referred to in the instructions |
Answer: | I really don't know because it's not prescribed by a doctor. Probably not! |
Question: | How big is the soaking container |
Answer: | Each sheet is about the size of a baby wipe sheet |
Question: | Why not soak head strap |
Answer: | We've purchased this item several times. In each case, the container has been sealed -- under the re-closable lid. We take the lid off, remove the seal, replace the cap, and use. |
Question: | Really? Add "soap" to concentrate - Like dish soap |
Answer: | Hope you don't use Dawn dish soap, it is way too strong. I have used a CPAP for years and found the best is to use a CPAP wipe every morning and disinfect in my SO CLEAN along with hose. Wash mask with gentle hand soap once a month and soak hose with disinfectant desiged for hose. Mask will last until you get tired of using it like 4 to 6 months. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I don’t use soclean or products like that. can i still use this to clean my cpap hose/mask and let air dry |
Answer: | Works as described |
Question: | Is impresa cpap pre-wash hypoallergenic |
Answer: | I have not seen a difference and I just changed from the S9 to the S10 |
Question: | What makes this different than the SoClean product other than price |
Answer: | The gasket (rubber seal) is NOT included with the cover. I use gaskets from other supply orders. |
Question: | Reviews of this product |
Answer: | I am assuming that this is for using the SoClean cpap cleaner. 1. Your cpap has to have a clear hard plastic removable humidifier that looks like your adapter. 2. If you follow the directions, you can get them online too if you don't have them, you will need to locate the little tube hole as shown in the picture for your adapter. 3. One side of the tube hole sticks down to the inside. This is where you cut back the small black rubber tube to fit inside. Stick it on the little hole. When you swap out the regular top for the adapter top it should almost touch the bottom when closed. 4. The top part of the hard tube hole that sticks out to the outside, this is where you attach the long black rubber hose. The clear thin tube that looks like part of an IV drip should be 1/4 of the way down the long black rubber hose. Note that there is a label on it that indicates which side points to the cpap side. 5. The other end of the long black rubber hose attaches to the back of the SoClean. 6. Now that you have the adapter attached to the bottom part of the hard clear plastic humidifier, make sure that it is closed and put it back in place in the side of the CPAP. 7. Then put your mask and regular top of the humidifier into the SoClean and turn it on. 8. If you do not have a humidifier on your machine then I would look online with SoClean for different instructions. Hope this helps. I took pictures to show you but there is no place for me to post them. I hope my description is clear enough. I actually had to look online to connect one of my old cpaps that has a very different humidifier. It was confusing to say the least. |
