User questions & answers

Question: how many servings per packet
Answer: Depends upon your serving size. End product is ~4 cups (32 oz). So serving size can be 4 1 cup servings, or any combination thereof. I will frequently add in some additional chicken stock, a can of small white beans and some additional ditalini. Absolutely fantastic.
Question: Does anybody know the list of ingredients in this soup
Answer: No but I can tell you to save your money, it's not very tasty imo. I love mushroom soup but did not like this one. Their slit pea and pasta faziole much better.
Question: How long will this last in storage? Thanks
Answer: I bought some packages of the soup mix recently and their "use by" date is October 2017 -- so the shelf life of the dry, unprepared mix would appear to be about 18 months. The prepared soup usually doesn't last long, since it's a high-quality, great-tasting product, but I've kept it in my refrigerator for as long as 10 days with good results. Free advice: If you like pasta e fagioli, buy this mix; I've been using it for many years and still prepare it at least once every two weeks. Extra advice: Add a 15-ounce can of cannellini, navy, Great Northern or pinto beans to the prepared soup for an even better experience. I also add tomato sauce (a cup or so) at times, with excellent results. Good luck.
Question: are there any animal product ? and how many calories
Answer: Yes. there is dehydrated chicken meat in the zuppa. Calories: 4 servings per container - 1 cup each serving size = 150 calories (5 from fat).Dehydrated Navy Beans, Pasta (Durum Semolina, (Niacin, Ferrous Sulfate, Thiamine Mononitrate, Riboflavin added)), Dehydrated Vegetables (Carrots, Tomato, Garlic, Peas, Zucchini, Broccoli, Celery, Onion, Parsley), Corn Cereal Solids, Salt, Modified Food Starch, Monosodium Glutamate, Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Corn Oil, Natural Flavor (Hydrolyzed Corn Gluten, Partially Hydrogenated Soybean and Cottonseed Oil), Dehydrated Chicken Meat, Spices, Turmeric, Disodium Inosinate, Disodium Guanylate, Sodium Bisulfite to Preserve Freshness. Hope this answers your query and if you choose to but the zuppa that you enjoy it!

Neopolitan Bean Soup

Pasta Fazool (Minestrone) is synonymous with the Southern region of Italy. "Fazool" is from the Italian word "Fagioli," which means "bean". "Brodo di Pollo" literally means "Chicken Broth" in Italian. Bits of carrot, celery, onion, chicken and of course, egg pasta are added to a hearty chicken to create a light, yet filling meal.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the sodium content per serving
Answer: 310mg of sodium and there are 2 servings per cup. Although the serving sizes are small. So each cup has 620mgs of sodium.
Question: Is this an organic product? I don't see that anywhere on the label
Answer: I don't see the word "organic" on the label. It is marked "vegan" and states non-genetically modified products, paper on label from certified responsible forestry. I am very picky about what I consume, and this product is on my favorites list. Very convenient to add water and microwave.
Question: What is the sodium mg per serving
Answer: Hello! I don't have this particular flavor any longer. When I bought it, I also bought a couple other flavors, including the Ramen Chicken flavor - which I prefer. I don't have this one, but the Ramen Chicken flavor that I have is pretty similar (however - in my opinion - better). All of the ones that I have tasted, which is about 4 or 5 different flavors, have a fairly low sodium content when compared to other "soup in a cup" brands that I have eaten, and they are vegan. The Ramen Chicken flavor, for example, for example is actually 290 milligrams per serving. There are two servings per the ramen soup I currently have. You might be able to find the nutritional information for Dr. McDougall's Right Foods online. I hope this helps you somehow!
Question: What are the calories per servings and how many servings per container
Answer: The old comments do not match nutritional info on the current product (Dec 2018). Minestrone just purchased was 64 grams and 230 calories per container, only 6g fiber and 11g protein. 1g fat. 0 mg cholesterol. 43g total carbs. Also, very bland ... not spicy.

User questions & answers

Question: What beans are in this soup mix? I cannot eat fava / broad beans
Answer: According to box, the mix contains “beans, peas, lentils, barley, chili powder, salt, garlic, onion, spices” . However if there is a specific type of bean you can’t eat, you can easily remove them from the bean mix prior to cooking. This makes terrific soup.
Question: How many people will this serve
Answer: That depends on the size of your servings! Look at the liquid ingredients you’re adding to the soup! Figure it out by what size bowl you’re using. I add a few extra vegis, sometimes tomatoes, too. It makes a very big pot of soup for me! I love this, I make with a pound of lean ground sirloin. I’ve ordered several times & always keep in my pantry & make 1-2 times a month. It’s thick & hearty!
Question: Do you soak everything overnight or do you separate the beans
Answer: Just soak the beans overnight. Actually, I soak them for around 30 hours. Then, when I cook them, I cook them in only water until just an hour south of tender. Then I add the rest of the ingerdiants.
Question: What is the sodium content of the barley soup
Answer: 360mg per cup of soup

White Chicken Chili

Also known as navy or northern beans, white beans are an excellent source of protein, certain B vitamins, minerals, and fiber. These nutrients help to lower cholesterol, prevent high spikes in blood sugar levels, and taste delicious.

Great Leap 'N Lentil

This colorful soup’s main ingredient is red lentils, the sweetest and nuttiest of all lentil varieties. Mixed with other whole grains, Great Leap N Lentil Soup offers an excellent source of protein, B vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

User questions & answers

Question: are the cans BPA free
Answer: Yes.
Question: Are any meat products (such as broths) used in this soup
Answer: I read the ingredients, so no, there are no meat products in this soup.
Question: How much sodium per serving? "Light in sodium" means nothing
Answer: It's 510mg of sodium for one can, about 22% of daily sodium allowance. Quite frankly, it's crazy how much sodium is contained in 99% of packaged food in America. Understandbly, sugar and salt are perfect to hide the low quality of the food compared to prepared meals in France or Italy, but 510mg of sodium for a can of soup it's frankly carzy....and to label it Low Sodium is just hilarious. It's very hard to find a decent product low in salt unfortunately, even organic and "healthy" brands in the US use mountains of salt
Question: is amy's minestrone soup gluten free
Answer: No it is not gluten free. It contains wheat. Gluten is a protein found in wheat and other grains.

Our Story

In 1987, when Rachel and Andy Berliner were expecting their first child, they went looking for ready-made, vegetarian meals at their local natural foods store. When they couldn't find any that satisfied their taste buds, the couple decided to create their own. Their first dish was a pot pie created from a family recipe, and Amy's Kitchen was born.

Our Purpose

We cook delicious meals and snacks that are convenient, easy to prepare and accessible to everyone. We use organic and non-GMO ingredients and are committed to caring for our people and reducing waste. Our goal is to do things the right way: Right by our customers, right by our farmers and employees, and right by the planet.

Why Organic

"Organic" is better for the planet—and we think that it just plain tastes better. We have been supporting organic farmers long before it became popular, and together we helped build the organic food industry. In fact, when the USDA decided to create official standards for the "organic" label, they asked us for guidance.

How It's Made

Even though you're heating up our meals in your home, we want you to feel like you're a guest in ours. Everything that comes from Amy's Kitchen is made from scratch, from our soups and sauces to our pizzas and burritos. Using organic ingredients and time-tested recipes, our chefs cook like you would—only with bigger pots.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the expiration date on this pkg of soups
Answer: The ones I got read: 02JUN19
Question: What are the ingredients
Answer: INGREDIENTS WATER, CARROTS*, ONION*, CANE SUGAR*, CREAMED COCONUT*, CORN STARCH*, CASHEWS*, GINGER PUREE*, SEA SALT, ROASTED GARLIC*, SPICES*, CAYENNE PEPPER* *ORGANIC, CONTAINS: TREE NUTS (CASHEWS AND COCONUT)
Question: Should this soup look brown? Mine doesn't look orange at all when I poured
Answer: We also got an entire case of this that was brownish, and the taste was also very off. We had bought it several times in the supermarket and it was nice and orange and tasty, so I guess it was old. My family would not eat it, it ended up getting pitched.
Question: Is this the vegan organic version (picture) or the all natural non-vegan as the description shows? Thanks
Answer: Edited to add a caveat: Amazon has in the past had me on subscribe and save and randomly changed what I was sent without even updating the product, so I would be careful ordering anything you can't see in person since food+hygiene they don't take back as readily-I was stuck with 6 boxes-totalling almost 650-of liners that changed for the worse! This is vegetarian, not vegan(the new version's not out yet according to Pacific so Amazon likely doesn't have it-they shouldn't be listed the same in any case). That said, if it is a matter of stomach sensitivity and not emotional or moral reasons, it is still safe for the vast majority to eat given the trace amount of dairy or egg present--maltodextrin, for instance, is safer for most when derived from dairy than corn (especially considering that the corn maltodextrin is derived from is usually genetically modified-though their products are GMO free-and the end result from corn is MSG, not a sweet milky flavoring like what comes from milk). The egg may very well be a stabilizer as-along with vaccinations-natural food flavors which can degrade or go bad quickly are often put in egg bases to keep them stable. This is one brand kind enough to actually tell you (unlike the VAST majority) that the natural flavor used in it contains milk and eggs. That flavoring, in any case, is the only component at all derived from any animal and it is the next-to-last ingredient. If you ARE worried about dairy and egg, be sure to only buy things with vegan stamped on them-otherwise the source ingredients can, with brands less upfront, still have non-vegan ingredients, even if only in trace amounts. For a vegan version(though not identical it may be workable): Pacific Foods sells a REDUCED SODIUM vegan version of this-compare the two ingredient lists here (but the one I reviewed is the original with dairy+egg--they MAY update all to be vegan but I just got more yesterday+it's still vegetarian with 2017 expiration dates):http://www.pacificfoods.com/food/soups/hearty-soups/all-natural-vegetable-lentil-roasted-red-pepper-soup.aspx Vshttp://www.pacificfoods.com/food/soups/hearty-soups/organic-reduced-sodium-vegetable-lentil-roasted-red-pepper-soup.aspxThere is also a spicy black bean and kale soup-that one is vegan+to my knowledge always has been. I cannot speak to its flavor, though, as I've yet to try it. Bon appetít!
