14 best probiotic pickles

Probiotic pickles are pickled cucumbers that have been fermented using a natural fermentation process, which promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria known as probiotics. These pickles are typically prepared without the use of vinegar, relying instead on salt and the natural lactic acid bacteria present on the cucumbers to initiate the fermentation. Here's what you should know about probiotic pickles:

  1. Fermentation Process: Probiotic pickles are made through the process of lacto-fermentation. During this process, cucumbers are submerged in a brine solution consisting of water and salt. This brine creates an environment where lactic acid bacteria can thrive. These bacteria naturally occur on the surface of the cucumbers and in the surrounding environment.

  2. Beneficial Bacteria: As the lactic acid bacteria consume the natural sugars in the cucumbers, they produce lactic acid. This lactic acid not only preserves the cucumbers but also creates an acidic environment that inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria while promoting the growth of beneficial probiotic bacteria.

  3. Probiotic Benefits: Probiotic pickles are considered a source of probiotics, which are known for their potential benefits for gut health. Consuming foods rich in probiotics can help maintain a healthy balance of gut bacteria, which can have positive effects on digestion and overall well-being.

  4. Taste and Texture: Probiotic pickles have a distinct tangy and sour flavor resulting from the fermentation process. They tend to be less crunchy than conventionally pickled cucumbers but have a unique texture and taste that many people enjoy.

  5. No Vinegar: Unlike traditional pickles, which are made with vinegar, probiotic pickles do not rely on vinegar for their preservation. This means that they have a different taste profile and offer the added benefit of probiotics.

  6. Storage: Probiotic pickles are typically stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator to slow down the fermentation process. They can be kept for several weeks to months, depending on personal preference for their level of sourness.

  7. Variations: Some variations of probiotic pickles may include additional ingredients such as garlic, dill, or spices to enhance their flavor.

  8. Health Considerations: While probiotic pickles offer potential health benefits, it's essential to consume them as part of a balanced diet.If you have specific dietary concerns or health conditions, it's a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional before significantly increasing your intake of probiotic-rich foods.

Probiotic pickles are a tasty and nutritious addition to your diet, especially if you enjoy fermented foods. They can be a flavorful and healthful way to incorporate probiotics into your daily eating habits and support your digestive health.

User questions & answers

Question: Are these pickles organic
Answer: Our vegetables are conventionally grown and we source the vast majority, which include the bulk of our product line (cucumbers and cabbage), from a family owned farm based in Georgia. They are committed to the sustainable farming practice called IPM (Integrated Pest Management) which can be read about in depth on Wikipedia. IPM basically means the farm is committed to a “manage before inputs” approach-- something IPM has in common with organic growing. Just like organic, IPM employs natural/biological means as a first option to control pests, such as the introduction of beneficial insects to take out the bad. In addition to IPM, our source is a progressive farming operation, employing the use of water conservation methods, crop rotation practices and soil regeneration techniques with the use of probiotics. Our sources do not use Glysophate. The produce is not irradiated and no GMO seed is used.
Question: What spices are in the dill pickles? i’m on aip diet and need to know none of them come from seeds or nightshades
Answer: I think fresh dill and garlic
Question: company suggest to keep it cool how then you do shipping
Answer: We ship our products in cool-pack shipping-- insulated pouches with ice packs, keeping products "cool-enough" in transit. Fermented foods are safely kept out of refrigeration for several days, well preserved from the fact that they are soaking in salt water (remember that fermentation was the safe way our ancestors preserved veggies prior to the invention of refrigerators). A result of moderate temperature fluctuation in transit is that fermentation may resume, causing pouches to puff up-- this is normal and expected during transit. Simply burp your packages upon receipt and put them in the fridge to chill, and enjoy your pickles. Thanks!
Question: Are the pickles soft or crispy
Answer: The pickles are crispy and delicious!

User questions & answers

Question: What Is It Made Out Of
Answer: I already answered this question. Google how long mayo lasts. When I purchased my two jars it was in 2016. Also i am on the second jar now which says best if used by December 2,2016. Nothing is wrong with it . Doesn't taste bad or smell funny. Also, mayo doesn't really have an expiration date unopened it has a long life shelf and once opened it still lasts for a while refrigerated.
Question: How do these taste compared to Oregon broneworks garlic dill
Answer: I am not aware if you can. I'm so sorry I cannot be more precise.
Question: Do these need to be refrigerated prior to opening
Answer: It's good old American capitalist marketing. It's proven that an ill informed buyer will ASSUME buying in bulk is cheaper. That's why it's good Amazon usually gives a "cost per ounce" info.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this taste like the pickle juice/brine that we are accustomed to
Answer: This is pickle juice resulting from the natural fermentation process. That means it's flavored from that process and from the use of natural sea salt. (There is ZERO vinegar, sugar and food dyes in this pickles juice, which is what most typical pickle juices on the market have.) Pickle juice containing vinegar is NOT live culture and therefore has no gut health benefits. The benefit of drinking naturally fermented pickle juice is two fold: first you get the electrolytes and second this pickle juice contains live cultures and probiotics.
Question: Is this pasteurized
Answer: Thanks for the question! No, none of our products are pasteurized. They are live, raw, natural fermented and therefore probiotic. Thanks again! ~Charlotte
