13 best jasmine rice brand
Jasmine rice is a type of aromatic long-grain rice that is known for its fragrant aroma and slightly sticky texture when cooked. It is not a brand but rather a specific variety of rice that is grown primarily in Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries. Here is some information related to jasmine rice:
Variety: Jasmine rice is scientifically known as Oryza sativa var. fragrant. It is sometimes referred to as "Thai fragrant rice" due to its association with Thailand, where it is widely cultivated and a staple in Thai cuisine.
Aroma: One of the most distinctive features of jasmine rice is its natural fragrance. When cooked, it releases a pleasant, floral aroma that is reminiscent of the scent of jasmine flowers, hence the name. This aroma adds an extra dimension of flavor to dishes.
Grain Characteristics: Jasmine rice grains are long and slender, with a translucent, pearly white appearance when cooked. The grains have a soft and slightly sticky texture, which makes it an ideal choice for dishes like sushi and other Asian cuisine.
Culinary Uses: Jasmine rice is a versatile rice variety that can be used in a wide range of dishes. It is a popular choice for serving with curries, stir-fries, grilled meats, and seafood. It can also be used in rice pilafs and as a base for various rice dishes.
Cooking: Cooking jasmine rice is relatively simple. It requires rinsing the rice to remove excess starch and then cooking it with the appropriate amount of water. Many people use a 1:1.5 ratio of rice to water, but specific cooking instructions may vary depending on the brand and packaging.
Brands: There are numerous brands that offer jasmine rice, both from Thailand and other regions where it is cultivated. Some well-known brands include Royal Jasmine Rice, Dynasty Jasmine Rice, and Three Ladies Jasmine Rice. The quality and flavor of jasmine rice can vary slightly between brands.
Packaging: Jasmine rice is commonly available in various packaging sizes, ranging from small bags to large sacks. Some brands may also offer different types of jasmine rice, such as white jasmine rice and brown jasmine rice.
Storage: To maintain the freshness and aroma of jasmine rice, it should be stored in a cool, dry place, preferably in an airtight container. Proper storage helps prevent the rice from becoming stale and losing its fragrance.
Gluten-Free: Like most rice varieties, jasmine rice is naturally gluten-free, making it suitable for individuals with gluten sensitivities or celiac disease.
Jasmine rice is beloved by many for its delicate fragrance, appealing texture, and versatility in the kitchen. Whether you're preparing traditional Thai dishes or experimenting with other global cuisines, jasmine rice is a pantry staple that can elevate your culinary creations. Different brands may offer variations in quality and flavor, so you may want to try a few to find your preferred choice.

Question: | Are the jasmine and basmati rice gluten free, for Celiacs |

Answer: | I usually just store mine in the packet with the top turned down and clipped. It will be ok for 2 to 3 days. |
Question: | Do you think this would look good on an office desk |
Answer: | You could buy a 10" frame and hang it on your cubicle wall for a delightful view. Studies show that the orange glow from Uncle Ben's will keep you energized throughout the day! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this certified gluten free |
Answer: | No—it is not a brown rice (which IS considered a whole-grain/integrale. This is a white rice. |
Question: | To the seller: One reviewer uploaded the purchased rice and found a live worm, was this fixed for the new deliveries |
Answer: | I actually bought the carnaroli, not arborio. Having said that, the package is dated "best before 9/15/19". We don't worry about that so much with pasta/rice. |
Question: | Is the nutrition label for the rice cooked or uncooked |
Answer: | They do not make that claim, so I assume not. In a broader sense, the term "organic" really has no fixed meaning, so it's a hard question to answer. |
Question: | What is the expiration date |
Answer: | The pressure cooker method begins just like the traditional method with sauteing the onions and toasting the rice. After spending about 5 to 6 minutes on this, things will take a very different turn. First, all of the liquid is added at once, then the lid of the pressure cooker is snapped on and the pot is brought to high pressure. (Hint: If you heat the stock while you saute the rice, it should come to pressure in about 2 minutes, if not less.) Pressure cook for 6 minutes and quick release by either running the pot under cold water or pressing the quick release valve. In the final minute or two, we are back in traditional mode when we stir in butter, parmesan or any herbs as a final seasoning.Timing a Pressure Cooker RisottoOne of the challenges with pressure cooking is that you are not able to keep an eye on things and adjust the timing while your food is cooking. Everything is locked in tight behind the heavy duty lid and there's no peeking allowed! Because there are so many variables in risotto (such as the quality of the rice, how dry it is, the way your pressure cooker functions, and so on), I only pressure cook it for 6 minutes - a minute less than most recipes. That way, I can do some final tinkering if needed and I don't have to worry about overcooking the rice.Troubleshooting & TinkeringIf the rice is a little undercooked or too soupy, it only takes a minute or two of further cooking and stirring with the lid off to bring it to the right consistency. Keep the flame at medium and stir until it is just a tad too soupy (the rice will continue to absorb liquid as you add the final touches and plate it).If the rice has absorbed all the liquid and has separated into dry, individual grains, add some more stock or water. Stir over medium heat until it is just a little soupy, but has started to bind together in a creamy emulsion. Then add the final touches and plate. The Final TouchesClassically, risotto is finished with a knob of butter and parmesan cheese just before serving (mantecato). This is an important step to add a final note of creaminess and flavor. This is also a good time to add in fresh herbs, if using.Adding Vegetables (Or Not)The recipe below is basically a Risotto alla Milanese, which is simply flavored with onions (or shallots), saffron, and parmesan. This simplicity is a big part of its charm and specialness. However, if you are interested in adding vegetables to your pressure cooker risotto, I have to warn you that it can get a little tricky. If they are already cooked, then stirring them in the end during the final touches stage is easy. But if you want to cook the vegetables along with the rice and stock, then you have consider the vegetables as liquid since they are often 95% water. I recommend doing a simple, non-vegetable risotto like this one first so you have the basic method under your belt before adding the complexity of vegetables (or even proteins such as shrimp or chicken). |

Question: | Vegatable oil tells me nothing about what oio is used. Does anyone know |
Answer: | I checked my rice bag, no local area is noted. The bag notes that it is grown in Thailand. More importantly, it is a superior rice with excellent taste and texture. Initially I cooked it stovetop (my rice cooker did not have a jasmine setting). I bought a new cooker with a jasmine setting and have used it for last several cookings with excellent results. Adding galangal, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves and garlic to the cooking water and sprinkling a little Thai mushroom soy sauce over the finished rice makes a perfect flavored rice to go with your Thai entrees. |
Question: | Is this rice fully cooked |
Answer: | I don’t think there was a limit but nowadays if there is, it will show it while you add the item to the cart. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Whats the water to rice ratio I should use in my rice cooker after I rinse the rice a few times? This rice always comes out very sticky |
Answer: | It is well sealed so I get an order of the 4 pack once every two years or so. Once I open it I keep it frozen to avoid any loss of freshness. II find this the most 'fresh' tasting rice I have eaten, greatly surpassing the bagged rice in flavor. |
Question: | How come only the organic rice has the cancer warning but not the regular rice |
Answer: | Possibly because the Texmati Rice that is white is made from a cross of long grain white and basmati rice. |
Question: | What Are The Benefits Of Using This Product |
Answer: | My understanding, despite what others say here, is that while yes all soil has toxic substances, the arsenic level in Texas is significantly higher than in California where a competing brand is from. |
Question: | Does this have a prop 65 arsenic warning label on it? is it farmed animal stock free and chemical free |
Answer: | This happened to me also a few weeks ago, this guys are cheating people, i know it says 4 pack but you won’t get 4 pack, you get only one pack, i only can advice you to never buy anything from this seller, fet it from the store, for just $8.99 why you wanna spend $23.00? |

Organic Jasmine rice is an aromatic long grain white rice grown on small family farms in Cambodia. Members belong to organic rice cooperatives and use Sri farming practices (what we call more Crop Per Drop). this premium variety of jasmine rice is called pH KA Malis, which in khmer language means beautiful garland of flowers because of its delicate floral aroma. CELEBRATING 25 YEARS OF POSITIVE IMPACT
In 1995, Lotus Foods made its first sales of Bhutanese Red Rice and Forbidden Rice to Bay Area chefs. Over the past 25 years, the company has imported over 25 million pounds of certified organic rice from a multi-country network of family rice producers whose lives and communities have been transformed by access to markets and organic and Fair Trade premiums. Lotus Foods’ commitment to organic and regenerative practices is generating more rice from less land, preserving valuable genetic biodiversity, saving hundreds of millions of gallons of water annually, promoting long-term soil health, and removing greenhouse gasses from the atmosphere.
25 YEARS OF POSITIVE IMPACT
By supporting rice grown using organic, fair trade and More Crop Per Drop practices, Lotus Foods has had a significant positive impact cumulatively, enabling the company to:
- Save 4 billion gallons of fresh water – enough to give a half gallon of water to every person on the planet.
- Reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 35,000 tons of CO2e (carbon dioxide equivalents) – which is like taking 7,000 cars off the road for a year.
- Source over 25 million pounds of organic rice.

User questions & answers
Question: | It's 2017, is this product still from the 2011 crop as displayed in the picture |
Answer: | Rinse rice very well- and use the fingertip method to measure. Dip your middle finger in the rice and water and when the water reaches the line on your fingertip, then it’s good. Google: fingertip method rice. I’m Tlingit and most of my Family Is Filipino- it’s a no fail way to make rice in a pot or a rice cooker. It’s the only way if you ask me. I just add a pat of butter- if you add salt then the texture of the rice will be different |
Question: | may I double check whether it is organic |
Answer: | I’m sorry but I did not notice that statement on the bag when I had the rice. I am not sure but perhaps you could contact the sender. |
Question: | how many cups of rice are in the 20# bag |
Answer: | Tastes wonderful, fragrant when it cooks! You can literally have a delicious meal with just some salt, black pepper and butter ! Very sticky and filling and flavorful! |
Question: | Now is 2020 , what is the expired date of this product ? is it 2011 crop or 2020 crop |
Answer: | It DOES have a Proposition 65 warning on the label that names cancer and reproductive toxicity (the warning does not mention arsenic). I spoke to the seller -- they will accept a return and they also say that Amazon puts this warning on everything that they ship from California, and that they eat this rice themselves. I was horrified to see the warning, and I cannot find any way to have Amazon confirm or deny that they are the ones who have put the warning on this product. It's very upsetting, we need the rice, but obviously we don't want cancer or reproductive toxicity! |
