Many of our customers reuse this jar for other ingredients such as seeds, nuts, dried fruits, homemade dressings and soy sauce that they refill at bulk supermarkets. The downside to this is you can't see what is in the jar. However, we recommend writing on the jar or a label of the contents inside. The amber colour of the jar, protects the contents from direct sunlight and the product will last longer. We are looking at a more sustainable packaging option for our honey.

Answer:	When I read from information pop up in my google search, I believe UMF 15+ certification includes the MGO 514+. However, in order to print MGO 514+, additional certification fee would be applied. I read quickly so I might not be fully correct. However, I bought this based on this research. It is important to note that the UMF Honey Association is a trade association made of voluntary paid membership, and is not a regulatory authority in New Zealand. As a trade association, they have their own honey grading system that their members must follow. Both the UMF rating system and our KFactor system have been deemed compliant for use by the NZ regulatory authority. Because the rating systems are internal standards, comparison of the two is not a transparent exercise. The regulatory authority in New Zealand, the Ministry of Primary Industries, has recently released the regulatory definition of Manuka honey, which will come into law from 5 February 2018. This is the result of many years of scientific research to find stable markers that can be easily and quickly replicated in the laboratory environment. Unfortunately, pollen analysis was not included because this requires specialist knowledge to differentiate the pollen. However, they have included a DNA test to prove floral origin as an easily replicated laboratory test. The markers used by the UMF association of Leptosperin, Dihydroxyacetone (DHA), and Methylglyoxal (MGO) were not included into the regulatory definition due to stability and other issues undisclosed by the regulatory authority. The regulatory definition includes 4 chemical markers with varying threshold levels, and the DNA test. A sample must meet all 5 test standards to be considered (and labelled) as Manuka honey. But there's no way of knowing if the honey is organic as bees fly up to 5km from the hive. If our honey is sourced from forests where Manuka is grown, it is as close to organic as you can get. It is just not certified organic as we think that is misleading the consumer.

However, we did return it as we just didn't feel it looked anything special, and certainly didn't look like an expensive jacket. He often has clothing professionally altered because of his shape but we didn't think it was worth it for this item. Perhaps on your body type it might look better, sadly didn't work out for us.

As you are applying the Hair Fibers to the thinning areas of your hair if you comb or brush after application it will move the fibers from the thinning areas, therefore we don't advise combing after application. Answer:	Yeah it says that it’s 100% plant based fibers. It’s truly amazing. It’s like those old Etch-a-Sketch. The fibers attached to your hair like magnets it seems like. It really works well on my hair. My friends are amazed how natural it looks. If you are seriously thinking about getting it, I could show you before and after pictures. I don’t work for this company or get anything out of it, I just love the product and have to tell people how great it is.

THE MAGIC OF MANUKA

In her BBC News article, “Harnessing Honey’s Healing Power," Angie Knox quotes biochemist Professor Peter Molan about Manuka Honey: "It works on bacteria, fungi, & protozoa. We haven't found anything it doesn't work on among infectious organisms." True to Professor Molan’s words, Manuka Honey is widely believed to not only treat minor wounds and burns, but to:

• Help lower cholesterol
• Help reduce systemic inflammation
• Help treat diabetes
• Help reduce ear, eye and sinus infection symptoms
• Help reduce gastrointestinal problems

Hydrogen peroxide is a component of most raw honeys and is responsible for the antibiotic benefits most honeys provide. Most types of honey also have components with antibacterial qualities, but only Manuka Honey contains methylglyoxal (MG), one of the key UMF (Unique Manuka Factors) qualities. Indeed, the higher the concentration of MG, the more powerful the antibiotic effect, which is one reason honey producers have developed a scale for rating the UMF potency of Manuka Honey. Therapeutic abilities start with 5+ either UMF or Bio Active. The advantage of higher grades is that less honey can be used for the same results for everyday conditions. For extreme conditions, a 10+ UMF or higher is recommended.

MG OR MGO

MG, MGO or Methylglyoxal is a chemical compound found in Manuka honey which is thought to be responsible for the additional anti-bacterial properties. By itself an MG test isn’t robust enough as it can be fooled by flash heating the honey or by adding synthetic MG.

WHAT USED TO BE KNOWN AS BIO ACTIVE

The honey used to be tested in a petri dish against phenol. The numbers in the scale related to the equivalent % strength of phenol, when killing bacteria. This method of testing is no longer performed.

UMF

This represents the unique signature compounds characteristic of this honey which ensure purity and quality. These include: the key markers of Leptosperin, DHA and Methylglyoxal.

We have our own scale honey which uses the old numbers (e.g. 5+, 10+) from “Bio Active” tests but we now use MG and Leptospirin levels to calculate these numbers instead. We also carry a range of UMF rated Manuka Honey.

POLLEN COUNT

Pollen count has traditionally been used to determine if a honey is to be considered monofloral. Very often this is quoted as a percentage. This method falls short when it comes to grading Manuka as the cost of Manuka continues to rise.. For example, if you were to blend Manuka honey with a low pollen honey such as Honeydew (nectar comes from aphids) then you can still get a high percentage of Manuka Pollen even though the percentage of Manuka Honey is relatively low.

Answer:	Yes the honey is unpasteurized and yes in aspects you could consider the honey wild. Bees although moved into place are free to roam form the hive and they create their natural colony in the hive. Our Beekeepers do tend to them so they are not completely wild, all Beekeepers tending to the bee’s do so to support their health but do not control where they seek nectar.

Answer:	As a manuka seller myself, I can say that Trader Joe's Manuka is raw. Processed honey has additional ingredients and you could see that in the ingredients. Stay away from any honey that has unnatural additives in the ingredient list.
Question:	how much honey in each packet
Answer:	This is the NEW packaging for 2015. We've spoken to Trader Joe's Management and have confirmed it's the same content as before and the number 10+ is THE UMF number as you might have guessed it. The reason they couldn't put it in like the previous packaging was that the manufacture was asking more $$ to put it in and to keep the cost down they have decided to not put it. Trader Joe's wouldn't sell it as 10+ if it wasn't. Hope that helps.

Answer:	I just googled "Manuka honey raw" and apparently it is not raw. As I said in my review and if you google you will see antibacterial properties for skin or for your general health. I am taking 2 jars on a trip I am making.
