12 best natural sweetener
Natural sweeteners, particularly those related to stevia and sugar substitutes, have gained popularity as healthier alternatives to traditional sugar in recent years. These sweeteners are commonly used in cooking, baking, and as pantry staples in the world of grocery gourmet food.
Stevia: Stevia is a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of the Stevia rebaudiana plant, which is native to South America. It is known for its intense sweetness, often considered to be 50 to 300 times sweeter than sugar, depending on the form of stevia used. Stevia contains zero calories and has a minimal impact on blood sugar levels, making it a suitable choice for people with diabetes or those looking to reduce their calorie intake. It is available in various forms, including stevia leaf, liquid extracts, and stevia-based sweeteners like Truvia and Stevia in the Raw.
Sugar Substitutes: Apart from stevia, there are other natural sugar substitutes like erythritol, monk fruit extract, and xylitol. These sweeteners are often used as one-to-one replacements for sugar in recipes, making them popular choices for baking and cooking. Erythritol and xylitol are sugar alcohols that provide sweetness without the calories or sugar spikes associated with regular sugar. Monk fruit extract, derived from the monk fruit, is another zero-calorie sweetener with a taste similar to sugar.
Cooking and Baking: Natural sweeteners like stevia and sugar substitutes are versatile and can be used in a wide range of cooking and baking applications. They are often used in recipes for cakes, cookies, muffins, and other desserts. It's essential to follow specific conversion guidelines when substituting these sweeteners for sugar, as their sweetness levels vary.
Pantry Staples: Natural sweeteners, including stevia and sugar substitutes, have become staples in many households and are commonly found in kitchen pantries. They offer a way to sweeten beverages like coffee and tea without adding calories or carbohydrates.
Grocery Gourmet Food: Natural sweeteners are frequently featured in the grocery gourmet food section, catering to consumers looking for healthier and natural alternatives to traditional sugar. You can find a wide variety of natural sweeteners and sugar substitutes in grocery stores, health food stores, and online retailers.
In summary, natural sweeteners, such as stevia and sugar substitutes, have become popular choices for health-conscious individuals and those with dietary restrictions. They offer a way to enjoy sweetness without the negative health effects associated with excessive sugar consumption, making them valuable additions to the world of cooking, baking, and pantry staples in the grocery gourmet food industry.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this have any "after taste" like some do? Thanks |
Answer: | Nope. No after taste like Stevia :) I love this brand of erythritol |
Question: | what is erythritol made from |
Answer: | Erythritol is: Fermented – it is made by fermenting the natural sugar found in corn. Heat stable up to 160 degrees C. Non-caloric – While most sugar alcohols are low calorie, erythritol has zero calories. Non-glycemic - Does not raise blood sugar – erythritol is considered suitable for people with diabetes because it does not raise plasma glucose or insulin levels. The easiest sugar alcohol to digest – more than 90% of erythritol is absorbed in the small intestine, so minimal amounts reach the colon where other sugar alcohols end up causing diarrhea and other symptoms. Studies have shown that erythritol is even easier to digest than xylitol. Noncarcinogenic– studies have shown that erythritol, like xylitol, does not have carcinogenic properties. An antioxidant – erythritol helps to fight free radicals, responsible for the aging process. It is considered to be even more efficient than other sugar alcohols because it is so readily absorbed and yet not metabolized (it is excreted unchanged). Source, see: https://bodyecology.com/articles/erythritol_what_you_need_to_know_natural_sugar_substitute.php They recommend an interesting product I have not tried. I am using a mixture of half erythritol and half xylitol, and so far I find that sweetener to be quite acceptable. |
Question: | Where is this sourced? U.S. or China |
Answer: | The source is important, pls be transparent. And made in usa is important, if the sources are from definitely will not buy. |
Question: | What is the difference? "Anthony’s uses cane sugar fermentation vs corn slurry fermentation |
Answer: | In both processes glucose (usually from cornstarch) is converted into erythritol. Anthony's Erythritol used to have a statement in their back label "Product of USA ...derived from cane sugar" but they removed this statement in mid 2019 when the compnay was sold. So it is now probably made from non-GMO corn in China or from from GMO corn in the USA. FYI erythritol is widely promoted as a natural sweetener for being found in nature but the store-bought erythritol is in fact a synthetic sweetener - it is not directly isolated or extracted from a plant or parts of a plant. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this product contain any carbs? Thank you |
Answer: | The carbs are listed as 4g, which is the "sugar alcohols", which is the erythritol. However, NET-carbs of erythritol are zero (hence, it's also called "Zerose"), since it is excreted before it can enter the blood stream. |
Question: | What is the difference, if any, between the Lakanto Golden Sweetener and the Lakanto White Sweetener |
Answer: | I've found no difference in the taste between the golden and classic. For me they are both equally good replacement for sugar. When I use the golden for baking, the color comes out a little darker than if I use the classic. |
Question: | What is the percentage by volume of erythritol and what percentage is Luo Han Guo |
Answer: | This is almost pure erythritol, about 99%. Erythritol is about 70% as sweet as sugar. They add enough Monk Fruit to make it as sweet as sugar. Being 99% erythritol by weight would not be deceptive because Monk Fruit is 150 to 200 times as sweet as sugar. What is deceptive is that only 30% of the sweetness comes from Monk Fruit. Thus it should be call Erythritol enhanced with Monk Fruit, rather than Monk Fruit sweetener. Having stated this, other than potential digestive problems resulting from erythritol not being digestible, there is nothing wrong with a sweetener being 70% erythritol and 30% Monk Fruit by sweetness, except calling it Monk Fruit sweetener. If you want a granulated Monk Fruit sweetener with a higher percentage of Monk Fruit, you will have to look for one that is not a one for one replacement for sugar, or uses a less sweet base than erytritol. |
Question: | What are all the ingredients listed for this product |
Answer: | Lakanto isn't truely a "Monkfruit Sweetner", except as a marketing gimmick. It is basically the same thing as Truvia, except that it is substituting in a bit of monk fruit instead of stevia to increase the sweetness so that it is more like using sugar in proportion. This is made even more obvious by their marketing it as a 1:1 substitute for sugar, while distracting people with the (erroneous) note that actual monk fruit is 300x the sweetness of sugar. It would be more honest to market their product as an "Erythritol sweetner" with monk fruit extract, but that's not as marketable. |
- ZERO CALORIE & ZERO CARB - Natural sweetener that tastes and bakes like sugar

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this product kosher |
Answer: | Yes, our erythritol is certified kosher and is considered pareve. |
Question: | Does it come with an expiration date? How far out is it? Trying to be budget minded, but don't want it sitting unused beyond the date |
Answer: | Hi, The expiration date is 2 years out! (Much like sugar, it can last longer though). Hope that helps :) |
Question: | Does it taste like sugar or nasty |
Answer: | No. It is not nasty. It's the closest thing to tasting like sugar. No after taste, like stevie and the others. |
Question: | is this product made from corn or birch? Thanks |
Answer: | This erythritol is made from non-GMO corn. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why did my packets come without the box? They just arrived loosely in a random postal box |
Answer: | Mine didn't come in a box like what is pictured but came in a white corrugated postal box but had stevia in the raw stamped all over it. Didn't matter to me how it came, I just wanted the packets. Wasn't worried about what type of container it came in. |
Question: | Are these 2g or 3g |
Answer: | Each packet is 1g. Hope this helps! |
Question: | It say |
Answer: | Yes |
Question: | What are the fillers |
Answer: | Dextrose, which is another name for glucose, a simple sugar. There's literally more sugar in this zero calorie sweetener than there is stevia, but since each packet is only a gram, the added sugar is less than 2.5 calories, so they can round it to 0 on the nutrition facts. Pure stevia is very sweet so something has to be added to it in order to swap 1 to 1 with sugar. Because they used dextrose, this is basically just a slightly sweeter sugar packet that slips in just under the FDA rules to allow them to label it as zero calories. If you're looking for something with a lower glycemic index, try sucrose, a.k.a table sugar. |

Product description
Sweetness is meant to be enjoyed. That's why Truvia created products meant to reduce sugar, not taste. The clean, sweet flavor contained in Truvia Spoonable Natural Stevia Sweetener comes from nature in the form of the stevia leaf. Leaves don't dissolve well in beverages or baked goods, so we extract the sweetness from the stevia leaf. Because stevia leaf extract is 200x sweeter than sugar, we balance the sweetness with erythritol, a sweetener produced by fermentation. Erythritol is also found in fruits like grapes and pears. This gives you the sweet white crystals you love, without the sugar calorie. The lid opens to allow for measuring spoons to scoop up the sweetness you need when cooking. Whether you spoon it, pour it, or sprinkle it, this Spoonable jar is great for measuring just the right amount of sweetness you crave.
- Zero-calorie sugar substitute made with stevia leaf extract, erythritol, and natural flavors
- Jar contains 80 servings of Truvia natural stevia sweetener at 3/4 teaspoon each
- 3/4 teaspoon provides the same sweetness as 2 teaspoons of sugar
- Gluten-free, sugar-free, kosher, and suitable for people with diabetes
- Spoon into anything from your coffee, tea, fruit, cereal and yogurt to your favorite recipes

Answer: | 1000 packets not that jar much better price than the 400 count I generally buy. |
Question: | Is Truvia keto friendly |
Answer: | The amount of stevia in this product is miniscule. They only add a bit so they can say this is made with stevia. Do some research and see what this does to the body, but yes, it is Keto friendly. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the ratio of this sweetener to regular sugar for baking? Is it 1 to |
Answer: | No you’ll need to add extra. If it calls for one cup sugar you will use 1 1/3 cup Erythritol. It’s what I use to sweeten all my baked goods and I love it! |
Question: | what is the bag made of, does it contribute anything bad to the product? thanks |
Answer: | Love the product. Packaging does not contribute smell or taste to the product. |
Question: | This product is listed as 100% erythritol, but several questions answered by other buyers said it is a mixture of sugar/stevia. Which is it |
Answer: | Whole Earth makes some different products. This one that is showing is 100% Erythritol, but they make another one called Baking Blend that is sugar/stevia. |
Question: | In what country is this product made |
Answer: | USA??? How do you know? In fact -- counry of origin is far from clear. Company's FAQ on this product says only: Whole Earth Erythritol is manufactured for Whole Earth Sweetener Company, LLC. http://wholeearthsweetener.com/faqs/#collapse-3035 Don't recall seeing any statement of origin on the product's packaging, last I checked. Nor will you see Made in USA in any of the product images here. Suppose, then, that Whole Earth Sweetener Co is purchasing all of their erythritol from a US company. That doesn't necessarily say anything about product origin. The erythritol could be made elsewhere, shipped here in bulk, and repackaged in the US. Whole Earth Sweetener Co may or may not be aware of this. That issue imo goes squarely to business practices. It's the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and not the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that governs Made in USA labelling. Foods and sweeteners have no source-of-origin labelling requirements: U.S. content must be disclosed on automobiles and textile, wool, and fur products. There’s no law that requires most other products sold in the U.S. to be marked or labeled Made in USA or have any other disclosure about their amount of U.S. content. However, manufacturers and marketers who choose to make claims about the amount of U.S. content in their products must comply with the FTC’s Made in USA policy. https://www.ftc.gov/tips-advice/business-center/guidance/complying-made-usa-standard As Whole Earth Sweetener Co does not publicly disclose the maker of their erythritol, consumers are -- purposefully to my mind -- left in the dark on this. One quick swipe with Occam's razor: Were this erythritol made in the USA, then why wouldn't Whole Earth Sweetener Co clearly say so -- both on their packaging and in their published FAQ? By keeping mum publicly, Whole Earth Sweetener Co is certainly staying on the right side of applicable FTC rules. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the difference |
Answer: | Hello, Pyure Organic Stevia All-Purpose Blend is our most versatile product. It can be used for all applications from cooking, baking, sprinkling on cereal or sweetening coffees and teas. It is organic, non-gmo and has the same taste and feel as sugar. Pyure All-Purpose is also a 2:1 ratio, so for every cup of sugar you can replace with 1/2 cup of All-Purpose Blend. This product blends organic erythritol and organic stevia together which are both excellent options for those with sugar sensitivities/diabetics. Pyure All-Purpose also comes in a few sizes: 16 ounce Pouch, 10 ounce flip-top tub, 80ct and 1000ct sachets. Pyure Bakeable Blend on the other hand is currently not organic or non-gmo, however we are working towards having it being organic and non-gmo this year. This product is more of a sugar-reducer since we recommend that for every cup of sugar, you replace half with the bakeable blend. For example if your recipe requires 1 cup of sugar you use 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of the bakeable blend. This is to ensure for proper crispness and browning. The Bakeable Blend can also be used in a 1:1 ratio if you do not want to use sugar. Pyure Bakeable Blend is a blend of maltodextrin and organic stevia, and comes in a 10 ounce pouch. I hope that helps. Thanks for the question W. Swanton. |

Answer: | Yes, the item you are referring is one 16oz. package. However, I purchase the 2-pack offering (2 ea. 16 oz. packages) for around $25.00. |
Question: | Why is this misleadingly presented item not returnable when it contains hardly anything but erythritol and only trivial traces of stevia extract |
Answer: | Pure stevia is a powder that is super sweet and almost unusable. It is mixed with other sweeteners like erythritol as a carrying agent. I also have a small bottle of the pure powder. It comes with a 25mg scoop. 25mg is a really small amount. I use about 1/3 of the scoop to sweeten a mug of coffee. Any more than that and my coffee is too sweet. This doesn't sound so bad but just try and get that tiny bit of powder in the sccop. The powder is so fine that it clings together, coats the handle of the scoop, and as you tap the scoop against the side of your mug the powder on the scoop handle falls into your coffee also. Like I said the pure powder is not really a usable form of this item and it works much better when it is mixed with something that can be granulated. Don't let the ratios fool you. |
Question: | what is the ratio of erythritol and stevia |
Answer: | I include this comment by seller " ...lthough erythritol is the first ingredient by weight, stevia accounts for over 90% of the sweetness. Pyure Stevia Extract is roughly 350x sweeter than sugar, while erythritol is 70% as sweet as sugar. The reason that this blend is less concentrated is because this erythritol-stevia blend offers the bulk/volume that the 1 cup of sugar in your recipe would have required, without losing mass in your cakes or cookies. Erythritol is a non-nutritive carrying agent that the stevia is able to attach itself to, creating a sweetener that is easy to use, versatile and safe for those with sugar sensitivities. . . Product description
MADHAVA Organic Agave is sourced directly from non GMO and organic agave farmers who share our values of doing good for people and the earth. All of our organic agave nectar products are made with organic ingredients crafted to bring out the best flavors as nature intended. It's just, agave. When MADHAVA started making honey in 1973, we were shocked that food companies tinker and toil with synthetic formulas, trying to re-create authentic flavors. We knew there was a better way. So, we ventured into deserts in Mexico, climbed trees in California, and sapped flowers in Asia – in an obsessive pursuit of purity. As our company has evolved since 1973, so has our passion for purity in all foods. It’s now our mission to get clean ingredients to tables across the country – and the world. In our pursuit of purity, we’ve partnered with the Clean Label Project to double and triple check that our MADHAVA methods prevent environmental and industrial contaminants from getting in, resulting in natural, organic, rich flavors you can trust. Every MADHAVA product is Clean Label Project certified and continuously tested for hundreds of toxins and contaminants.

Answer: | Madhava Honey Ltd Agave Nectar, Og, Light, 176-OunceASIN: B002HK5EW0 |
Question: | I've been buying this product consistently for the past year and the price was $19. And now it's jumped $10.00 to $29. Why such a big jump |
Answer: | I tend to look around for the cheapest. I've never seen a $10 difference. Wonder if the coronavirus is responsible. Have seen other products go up. |
Question: | agave for margaritas |
Answer: | I really do not know since I am not a drinker of Alcohol. However, I am sure you can use it since it originated from the plant associated with making some Alcoholic Beverages. I tell you what, make a little for yourself and see what it taste like and take it from there, if you like it, Thumbs up, if you do not, throw it out and you do not have to use it again. Remember Agave have a very strong taste, start with a little and increase the amount as you go along. I would love to hear how it turned out. |
Question: | Is the price for two 46 oz bottles or just one? Please clarify |
Answer: | Well there is a problem with the page for this. It's supposed to be for 2 46oz. bottles but it was coded wrong. I asked a very friendly customer service person and she told me how to get the 2 for one price. She said to try this link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D85SYOI/ref=oh_details_o01_s02_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 or if that doesn't work to go to the light agave syrup page and use the choice options there to get the 2 46 oz. raw. Hopefully this works for you because I love this nectar and love to tell others about it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this pure? Some say 100% then list 10+% alcohol on ingredient label |
Answer: | Monk drops only has one ingredient: Monkfruit extract. There is no alcohol. Our ingredients list is visible in the second image near the nutrition panel. |
Question: | Is this non GMO |
Answer: | Yes, this product is Non-GMO. |
Question: | is this good in iced tea |
Answer: | I think so! Back when I used sugar, I didn't like iced tea unless it had about a pound of sugar in it. For some reason, tea seems to neutralize the taste of sugar. But I tried the drops in a giant iced tea (probably 20 ounces) and found that about 25 drops did the trick and tasted great. Even using a lot of drops, it seems like the bottle lasts forever. |
Question: | do these drops need to be refrigerated after opening |
Answer: | On the 1.5 ounce bottles it states to refrigerate after opening. On the 8 ounce jug it states to keep in cold dry place and use within 90 days or refrigerate. I do not know what temperate constitutes "cold" to the manufacturer. |

Question: | What are the actual ingredients listed? Is this stevia with erythritol, dextrose, or other |

It has no calories, no added flavors, no added colors, no artificial ingredients and no bitter aftertaste. SPLENDA® Naturals Stevia Sweetener, Granulated is made from two non-GMO ingredients: stevia leaf extract and organic tapioca maltodextrin. Stevia leaves are steeped in hot water to extract the sweetest parts of the leaf and then undergo a process to separate, filter and purify the extract.
