Answer: | As a rule of thumb, 18 TPI is used for metal 1/2 inch and thicker. 24 TPI is used for 1/4 inch up to 1/2 inch, and 32 TPI is used for any thickness below 1/4 inch metal and plastics 32 TPI is also used in thicker metals like mild steel and aluminum { 1/4 and thicker } when you want a smoother finish cut that will require less finish work. Answer: | Light rye flour is generally a mix of white and rye flours, and dark rye is the equivalent of whole grain rye flour – it has all the bran and the germ in the flour and light rye does not. The company probably wanted to clarify that the their product is whole grain. This company only sells whole grain rye and other specialty flours. They did not change. |
Question: | How to make a good rye bread in bread machine using this flour |
Answer: | If you only want to use the rye flour, the bread will be very small, squished and heavy. This is what I do using my bread machine: I use 1.5 cups of rye flour, 1.5 wheat flour (of the same Organic Milling Company) and 1 cup all-purpose generic grocery store flour (I like Trader Joe's all purpose unbleached flour, but it doesn't have to be TJ'S). The all purpose flour is not as healthy, but it holds the bread together. If you skip it and use just 50 50 mix of rye and wheat flour, the bread may easily crumble. I also add 2 tsps of salt, 1 tsp of sugar, 1 Tbsp of oil and 2.75 tsps of Red Dry Yeast. The bread rises nicely and it's much puffier than bread made only from rye flour. |

Homemade Whole-Grain Pancake Mix
1. Grind the oats in a food processor until they're chopped fine, but not a powder.
2. Put the flour, oats, and all other dry ingredients into a mixer with a paddle. Mix on slow speed, and drizzle the vegetable oil slowly while the mixer is running.
3. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks at room temperature, or indefinitely in the refrigerator or freezer.
4. To make pancakes: Whisk together 1 cup of mix, 1 cup of buttermilk, and 1 large egg. Let the batter stand for at least 20 minutes before cooking.
5. Heat a lightly greased griddle to 350°F or medium-hot. Drop the batter onto it in 1/4-cupfuls to make a 4" diameter pancake. After about 2 minutes, flip the pancake over to finish cooking.
