Question: Taste with Laundry detergent smell, how about yours
Answer: We have eaten these for a few years. Order in qty of 6 i believe. Once before they tasted and smelled like cinnamon had been added. Now, the order we made in june or july has a very strong soap/perfume/floral or essential oil smell and taste. Have not contacted the company yet.
Question: how are the quick oats and old fashioned oats different

User questions & answers

Question: IS this four bags of 24oz? Saw one complaint on line that received just one
Answer: I have ordered this item 3 times now. Twice I received a box of 4 24oz bags like the one pictured. My third order I received one bag only. I immediately returned the product and received a full refund. It appears some sellers are selling the 4 pack, as they should, and some shady seller with a 1 pack.
Question: Is this gluten free
Answer: Oats are already naturally gluten free, BUT, during the process of making the oatmeal, it’s possible that a little gluten might get in - kind of like products that say were prepared at a place where ‘nuts’ are also prepared.
Question: I don't understand are these instant or do they have to be cooked on the stove
Answer: These oats are NOT instant. I cook them on the stove. Oats go in the pot first, then top with water and cook on low while you're taking your morning shower or checking emails. Pretty much cooks on its own.
Question: any herbicides
Answer: No, the EWG tested regular quaker oats but not organic. I wish they had tested the organic oats for herbicides, so we would know if they have glyphosate or not, but they did not.

User questions & answers

Question: I have been eating these oats as is, with almond milk and berries. They are ready to eat right
Answer: You can eat them raw, but the flavor will not be as good as cooked. To make it more flavorful, it's suggested to put your oats and milk into a bowl and refrigerate overnight and add your berries before eating. Enjoy!
Question: Is this product corn-free and free of corn derivatives
Answer: there is no corn in it. just whole grain rolled oats. I have purchased this by the 6 pack 9 times now and I am very happy with this product.
Question: Does anyone know what the expiration date is for the recent shipments of these oats
Answer: I bought some about a month ago and the date on them is Sept. 1, 2020
Question: Do you know if this contains glyphosate
Answer: It does not contain glyphosate. USDA certified organic foods are not treated with any chemical whatsoever including Roundup. Any food stating it is USDA certified organic has met the strict requirements of years worth of chemical free land use where food is grown. GMO has nothing to do with being grown necessarily chemical free. GMO based foods are genetically modified by scientists to be immune to certain pest and chemicals. It can indicate the plant is tolerant of herbicides or has a BT gene that insects won’t eat. Some plants have both “technologies “. IMHO and as a farmer stay away from GMO foods and meat grown consuming these foods. They’re more dangerous than conventional grown crops (non organic). I try to eat organic and non GMO and this brand is both. And for the record most farmers do not support the use of GMO foods. They are forced to use this technology because of major corporations taking away the alternatives. Vote against these chemical giants.

User questions & answers

Question: how many ounces in total for this purchase..is it 4 x 32oz
Answer: no
Question: What is the expiration date
Answer: That depends on your specific order. We have kept these unopened bags in a cool dark place for over two months. There is no oil in oats, so nothing to go rancid. Once opened, we keep the oats in a sealed storage bin. I imagine they could go stale like any product exposed to air. All in all, oats are a hearty grain. Given the limitations on some of these products due to Covid, we are buying in advance to make sure not to run out.
Question: Are these gluten free
Answer: Bob’s Red Mill also has a gluten free. The amount of gluten in rolled oats is so miniscule that it depends on the certifying organization as to whether or not they are actually gluten free. In America these would be considered gluten free, but in I think Australia or New Zealand they are not.
Question: Am I understanding the quantity correctly? 4-32oz bags, equaling 8lbs total
Answer: I asked myself the same thing and yes 8lbs. It’s not a typo it’s just a good price.

They can make a deliciously satisfying hot cereal for breakfast or a hearty loaf of bread with lunch or dinner. Whatever the form, these oats are an excellent source of protein and dietary fiber. Delicious, nutritious and eaten for generations. Go ahead, treat yourself to a bag of Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free Quick Cooking Rolled Oats.

  • BOB'S RED MILL: Make folks a little happier; It's the idea that keeps our stone mills grinding to fill every bag with wholesome goodness

User questions & answers

Question: Are these 4 bags of 28 ounces
Answer: Yes...4 bags...28 ounces each.
Question: is this an organic product
Answer: No; this is not organic but Bob's Red Mill also sell an organic oatmeal and it's very similar in texture and taste. Both products are very good. The organic is a little bit more coarse nut not too much different. I like both.
Question: Seriously what's with the price gouging? $40 is twice its value. i expect a convenience tax but seriously
Answer: It could be the tariffs against China. We the people in the US pays for that tariff. They feel they can raise prices as high as they want. People have to boycott these manufacturers.
Question: The product description says: "roasting enhances that wholesome, robust flavor you expect. " are these oats roasted? is that normal
Answer: Yes, this is normal. In order for oats to be rolled thin enough to qualify for "Quick" cooking, they first need to be steamed to loosen them up. Once they're rolled they have some moisture which can cause issues, so to "dry them out" they're toasted. If you're looking to tell what that flavor is, try a bowl of oat groats (you're looking at 60-90 minutes of cooking).

User questions & answers

Question: do these oats need to be refrigerated or frozen to keep well
Answer: No. They are shelf stable. If you cook them or soak them, I would refrigerate them if they weren’t all eaten. I add 1/3 cup oatmeal to 2/3 cup of boiling water and simmer for ten minutes, then add cinnamon, a few walnuts, and fresh or frozen berries and/or a handful of raisins and dried berries (Trader Joe’s ) and milk . I have made more at times and refrigerated the cooked oatmeal for the next few days. I reheated a portion in the microwave with a little fresh water and then added fruit, etc. I store the opened oats in closed containers with tight lids and only open one bag at a time.
Question: Can you microwave this oatmeal or does it need to be cooked via stovetop
Answer: I bought the large bag of the Bob's Red Mill Quick Cooking Steel Cut Oats at Costco and will never buy it again. Prior to Costco carrying this brand, they carried Coach's, which was delicious and very easy to microwave. Red Mill is ridiculously difficult to microwave. Like most people, I'm busy and am looking for healthy ways to prepare in convenient ways. I've tried this so many ways it's comical! My husband and I feel like we are eating small wood chips. If anyone knows of a reasonable way to prepare this in the microwave, please share your recipe. Having to boil the water first and then cook the oatmeal as instructed on the bag just made a huge mess. W/ Coach's, we cooked it in separate deep bowls at the same time in the microwave for 8 minutes (or for 4 minutes for one bowl) at power 7. Came out delicious and perfect every time. Totally disappointed w/ this product.
Question: Can the packages be frozen or is this not recommended for freshness & quality
Answer: Yes these can be frozen.
Question: Can these oats in the bag they are in be stored for a period of time , say 6 months
Answer: From my own experience I would say yes...I have not detected any issues in storage and have ordered a number of times. Love the product.
