Answer: | I'm inclined to say "Yes" on both counts. a)When butted up against a flat wall with a baseboard, the front edge of the top step is about 3.5 inches from the wall. When butted up against a kitchen cabinet (which typically will have a recessed foot-well), the front edge of the step is about 1 inch from the cabinet face. b)The handle extends into the top step space by about 3 inches, leaving lots of room to stand on the top step for either a toddler or adult and the unit is very stable, even with a 240 pound adult on the top step. BTW, the top step is about 17 inches off the floor, so any toddler taller than about 24 inches will easily be able to see and reach over most countertops (a mixed blessing). It is also probably light enough to be carried by many older or larger toddlers, although with some difficulty. My 3 year old grandson uses it to wash his hands in the bathroom sink. |
