13 best white teas
White tea is a type of tea that is known for its delicate flavor, light color, and subtle sweetness. It comes from the same Camellia sinensis plant as other types of tea, such as green tea, black tea, and oolong tea, but it is processed differently, which gives it its unique characteristics. Here's what you should know about white tea:
Processing: White tea is minimally processed compared to other types of tea. It is made from young tea leaves and buds that are typically harvested in the early spring. The leaves are simply withered and dried in the sun or with indoor air drying. This minimal processing allows white tea to retain more of its natural flavors and antioxidants.
Types of White Tea: There are several varieties of white tea, with the most famous being Silver Needle (Baihao Yinzhen) and White Peony (Bai Mudan). Silver Needle consists of only the buds and is considered the highest grade of white tea. White Peony includes both buds and young leaves.
Flavor Profile: White tea is prized for its delicate and subtle flavor. It has a mild, slightly sweet taste with floral and fruity undertones. The lack of strong processing gives it a clean and refreshing quality.
Caffeine Content: White tea generally contains less caffeine than black or green tea, making it a popular choice for those looking for a milder caffeine boost. However, the exact caffeine content can vary depending on the specific tea and how it's brewed.
Health Benefits: Like other types of tea, white tea is rich in antioxidants, particularly catechins, which may have various health benefits. It is believed to support cardiovascular health, aid in weight management, and have potential anti-inflammatory and anti-aging properties.
Brewing: White tea is typically brewed with water that is not quite boiling, around 175-185°F (80-85°C). The steeping time varies depending on personal preference but is generally shorter than that of black or green tea, usually between 2 to 5 minutes.
Appearance: White tea has a pale, almost colorless infusion with a light yellow or pale gold hue. The leaves themselves may appear silvery or downy, especially in the case of Silver Needle.
Storage: To preserve the delicate flavors of white tea, it's important to store it in an airtight container away from light, heat, and moisture. Proper storage helps maintain its freshness.
Cultural Significance: White tea has a long history in China, where it originated. It was traditionally reserved for the Chinese imperial court and is often associated with purity and refinement.
In summary, white tea is a mild and delicate type of tea with a unique flavor profile. It is prized for its minimal processing and potential health benefits.Whether enjoyed for its taste or its potential wellness benefits, white tea is a popular choice among tea enthusiasts.

User questions & answers
Question: | is the elegant jasmine green tea caffeinated |
Answer: | According to the description "...Indian high-grown" |
Question: | Has anyone else received a lighter bitter “bad batch” ? if they changed the green mint tea recipe lately, it’s horrible or fake product |
Answer: | I have been brewing Kombucha with this tea for years now with no problems but I use a combination of organic black tea (50%), this brand Silver Needle white tea (30%%) & organic green tea (20%). To have a healthy scoby you should add black at least every other brew. You should also not use teas with additives or added oils because they throw off the balance of yeast & bacteria which is why I stay away from blends. But I am not sure why white tea cannot be used unlimited as long as you add black tea or switch over to black tea st least every other brew. |
Question: | You guys have nearly doubled the price of this product in just a few months fro $13.88 to $23.88. Why |
Answer: | I have tried the Gunpowder several times and found it to be a decent green tea. It is not as good as Stash (or a couple of others) but it is cheaper. I prefer Davidson's Imperial green because it has more flavor. |
Question: | The flavor of the Green Tea product seems to have changed recently (along with the packaging). Anyone else notice this |
Answer: | Just want to say that if you're talking about the black organic tea from Ceylon, Ceylon is not China. It's Sri Lanka. You are right to be concerned about heavy metals in tea, most especially from, China. Check out this article on the matter, specifically Table 4 if you read nothing else. This is what I use as a guide for where to source my teas. https://www.hindawi.com/journals/jt/2013/370460/ In a nutshell, buy your organic green tea from Sri Lanka and your black tea could be from India or Sri Lanka, although that decision is a little less clear based on the chart mentioned above. |

Product description
Our Imperial White tea comes from Ningde in China. Ningde is nestled between the mountains and the ocean in the northeastern corner of China’s Fujian province. The region is full of wild mountains and lushly forested hilltops that look out over emerald tea gardens and intricately terraced slopes and valleys. The region is also known as Min Dong in reference to the ancient Min culture of southeastern China. Tea has been growing in Ningde for centuries and longstanding green and white tea-making traditions continue to this day.
The flavor of Ningde teas can vary drastically depending on their proximity to the coast or inland mountains. This tea was grown on a high elevation mountain further inland and has a characteristic clean, clear aroma and taste.
Using a “Fu Yun” leaf varietal, Imperial White is made by withering the tea indoors for several hours and air-drying in special rotating tea ovens. No rolling or bruising of the leaf is performed.
- Full-bodied chestnut aroma with a hint of smokiness. Golden brew with a mellow, lingering, nutty, and vegetal flavor.
- Ingredients: White Tea Leaves.
User questions & answers
Question: | How many cups of tea will this amount of tea make |
Answer: | No it's not. |
Question: | Is this tea organic |
Answer: | Dispenser is pour with a stopper so you have to shake for drops to come out |
Question: | Is this a thick leaf tea or very thin leaf tea |
Answer: | Actually we don't recommend using these oils around your pet. Pets have a much better sense of smell than we do, so something that seems light to us may be overwhelming to them. If you still want to use essential oils in the car freshener when your dog is in the car, please add fewer drops of essential oils than you normally do. But in this case, the scent would be too weak for you. Hope this answers your question. |

Fusion Green & White Tea Unique blend of rare and expensive white tea and top quality green tea. User questions & answers
Question: | Are these organic |
Answer: | Yes. Last two 12-bottle cases of the mint green tea were much lighter. Not as good as before and almost no mint taste. Like they were trying to get twice as much product out of the same amount of leaves. |
Question: | Is this gluten free |
Answer: | ????? I don't know why. I don't work for the company--- only though is that The package is heavy and at the time I wondered how it could be sold at that low price- just because of shipping weight. |
Question: | What country are these tea leaves grown in? Are there any pesticides / lead or contaminated soil where this tea is grown |
Answer: | I think the problem with inconsistent taste is an issue of storage. It says "Do not heat bottle" right on the bottle. I believe the product is being stored in hot, unairconditioned conditions during the summer months, and this is to blame for the awful batches. The flavor seems consistently good during the colder months. |
Question: | Unbleached tea bags |
Answer: | Yes....I use mine in my diffuser, I add it to my bath water, I also use it straight out of the bottle as perfume. (one dab on each wrist will do) |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does anyone know the ingredients in the lotion |
Answer: | There is a very, very long list of unpronounceable things in it...sadly. But I'm fine with that and still use it. |
Question: | Is this the same products that are used at the walt disney swan resort |
Answer: | Well, I'm not sure, but it probably is. The first time I used this lotion was at a hotel in Florida...can't remember exactly which one. You could probably call the hotel and ask them. |
Question: | Is this lotion as pictured, in a bottle not a tube?...The new tube version seems to have too much perfume added |
Answer: | When I last ordered it a year ago it came in a tube not a bottle as shown. I didn’t like the tube version and I agree it was not the same as before. That was the last time I purchased it. Now I use Relage Spa greens tea from the Gaylord. |
Question: | Can I put white tea aloe body lotion on my face? Thanks |
Answer: | I personally don't ever put "body" lotions on my face. I would ask the company but I would use specific facial moisturizers on my face and not a scented body lotion. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What is the country of origin |
Answer: | This is printed on the tea box, "Certified Organic By the Nevada Department of Agriculture". The tea website is: www.davidsonstea.com. |
Question: | stems |
Answer: | I think by definition organic means unbleached bags. But.. the bags are white so I don't know for sure. I guess they make white unbleached bags. |
Question: | How do you prepare this tea? Do you need a brewer or some type of cloth wrap |
Answer: | If you are asking about the whole box, I don't know how many ounces: it's got 100 tea bags, but it is not heavy to ship or store. Each tea bag - I still don't know - I usually make about 8 ounces of tea with each bag. They look pretty standard to me. I do not use them twice. Inside the box the tea bags are in a ziplock bag. I recycle the box and just use the bag - it's sturdy. BTW the tea bags do not have strings or individual wrappings. I like them that way, as we compost or recycle everything here. |
Question: | How many cups i can make out of one bag |
Answer: | No. All tea bags are placed in a zipped plastic bag. |

Darjeeling is to tea as champagne is to sparkling wine – only leaves harvested in Darjeeling, India earn the name. The area’s unique recipe of soil conditions, altitude, sunshine, and rainfall produce these incomparably fragrant leaves. In 1841, an English civil surgeon named Dr. Campbell was transferred to Darjeeling and became the province’s first superintendent. As you can imagine, the good man craved a proper cup of tea, and so he planted seeds on the slopes near his home, 7,000 feet above sea level. The world is very glad he did. Prospect Tea Co.’s White Bengal is liquid gold, yielding a fine, light floral bouquet with a hint of musky spice. Escape to the mountains, if only for a moment, with a steamy cup of White Bengal.

User questions & answers
Question: | What type of flavoring is used for the peach flavor? Is it natural or artificial |
Answer: | Gunpowder tea traditionally made in China, it got its name from the shape of tea leaves rolled into a pellet. In China it is called zhu cha (pearl tea). In China this tea has many grades of quality - from the cheap at 1 dollar a pound to very expensive aged tea to 1000 dollars a pound. Tea could be contaminated w lead and other toxic chemicals or could be totally clean. Tea made for export usually is different from the one for the domestic market, since it is specified for the requirements of each country. Teas specified to the U.S. standards are generally clean or organic, so no worry! :) |
Question: | What is your favorite flavor and way to prepare it |
Answer: | No stems |
Question: | Does this have a strong peach flavor like overwhelming like some |
Answer: | I have learned the best way to brew this tea is: 1. Heat water to 180 degrees (too hot will not give optimal flavor and will diminish the antiox. benefit) 2. steep for 4 mins (too long will cause the bitterness of the tannins to come through) 3. pre-warm the cup (I rinse the cuop under hot water before pouring the tea into it. This may sound complicated but it isnt once you have a method. I drink 36 ounces every morning before work....I love this tea. |
Question: | Can you taste the orange peel and lemongrass in it |
Answer: | Depends on exactly how much tea you use per cup. This has been my wife's everyday tea for almost two years now and normally make it one teaspoon/cup. I was surprised by the wide range (50-300 cups) of answers and all the guessing that led to them so I did the math. I weighed a teaspoon of tea using my kitchen scale and came up with an average of 2.33 grams. The bag contains 453 grams of tea. 453/2.33= 194 cups of tea per bag |
