For example, an initial screening for marijuana must show at least 50 ng/ml, and then confirmatory tests must prove at least 15 ng/ml. If the initial screening doesn't show at least 50 ng/ml, then it's considered to be negative and the confirmatory tests aren't performed. If you are about to undergo the test at work, you should also bear in mind that every employer has a right to request a lab to test employees using tests of different cut-off levels. However, this, as far as we know, happens rarely. You will be on the safe side if you manage to find out the cut-off level of the test you will be taking at the lab before you take one (if it is possible, of course).
