| Answer: | These 6500K bulbs are great for photography simply because they put out very pure white light similar to natural daylight, so it's really just a color thing. I.e., they're not just for photography, you can use them whenever you want a white-colored light rather than a yellowish light, so you can certainly use them in your garage. The Kelvin (K) number just tells you how white the light is. The higher the number, the whiter, the lower the number, the more yellow the color (like your typical incandescent or cfl bulb). The 6500K bulbs are most similar in color to natural daylight, so if that is what you are looking for, they would be great. If you are looking for a light that is a bit warmer in color, you should consider a lower K rating (e.g. 5000K or lower). I'm not sure how many of these you would need to light up a whole garage, though. I am only lighting a small area (a cheapo 3X3' photography tent) with these and I use all 4 bulbs at the same time to do so. As for the longevity, unfortunately I cannot say. I don't use mine very often; maybe 5 hours a week or so. No burnouts yet (I've had them a few months). However, people I know have had very bad luck with cfls in general, my boyfriend has have never had one last even as long as a typical incandescent.I hope this was some help.Kelly |

| Answer: | If you're asking if the bulbs make a humming sound...No, there is no noise. I found these lights to be a good purchase. They are by no means professional or heavy duty, but for my needs they work well enough. The head unit with bulb is a bit heavy so I position the head directly over one of the tripod legs (not between two legs). This really helps prevent the lamp from falling over should you accidentally bump it too hard...otherwise its stable. |
