13 best organic coffees

Organic coffee refers to coffee that is grown and produced using organic farming methods, which avoid the use of synthetic pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers. It is related to Single Serve Capsules Pods, Coffee, Coffee Tea Cocoa, Beverages, and Grocery Gourmet Food. Here's what you need to know about organic coffee:

  1. Organic Certification: Organic coffee is typically certified by a reputable organic certification body, ensuring that it meets strict organic standards. Certifications may vary by country, but common ones include USDA Organic and EU Organic.

  2. Growing Methods: Organic coffee is cultivated using natural and sustainable farming practices. This includes using compost, organic matter, and natural pest control methods to maintain soil fertility and minimize environmental impact.

  3. Pesticide-Free: One of the primary advantages of organic coffee is that it is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or herbicides. This reduces the risk of chemical residues in the coffee beans and promotes healthier ecosystems.

  4. Shade-Grown: Many organic coffee farms employ shade-grown methods. This means coffee plants are cultivated under the canopy of tall trees, which helps conserve biodiversity, provides habitat for wildlife, and enhances soil quality.

  5. Flavor Profile: Organic coffees often have a distinct flavor profile influenced by their growing conditions. The specific taste can vary depending on the region, altitude, and coffee bean variety. Some people appreciate the unique flavors associated with organic coffee.

  6. Fair Trade: Many organic coffee producers also adhere to fair trade practices. Fair trade ensures that coffee farmers receive fair compensation for their labor and promotes ethical and sustainable farming practices.

  7. Single Serve Capsules and Pods: Organic coffee is available in various forms, including single-serve capsules and pods. This convenience allows coffee lovers to enjoy organic coffee with ease, whether through pod-based machines or other single-serve methods.

  8. Brewing Options: Organic coffee can be brewed using various methods, including drip coffee makers, espresso machines, pour-over methods, and French presses. The choice of brewing method can influence the flavor and strength of the coffee.

  9. Health Benefits: Organic coffee is often chosen by consumers who are concerned about potential health risks associated with pesticide residues in conventionally grown coffee. Choosing organic coffee can offer peace of mind in this regard.

  10. Availability: Organic coffee is widely available in grocery stores, specialty coffee shops, and online retailers. You can find a variety of blends, roasts, and origins to suit your taste preferences.

In summary, organic coffee is grown using environmentally friendly and sustainable practices that promote soil health, biodiversity, and the well-being of coffee farmers. It offers a pesticide-free option for coffee lovers who prioritize organic and ethical choices in their coffee consumption. Whether you prefer single-serve capsules or traditional brewing methods, there are organic coffee options to suit your preferences.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you confirm this is a 5 lb bsg? The size info is conflicting
Answer: I'm pretty certain that they are a universal pod. They work in my Hamilton beach coffee maker.
Question: Is it fair trade
Answer: That is a great point. I think we are flooding ourselves with BPA using K cups. Heating plastic is the worst thing you can do when trying to avoid BPA and we are super heating these platics then drinking the BPA. For me it's 2 cups a day forever.
Question: Is this coffee grown in one region
Answer: I have a Keurig Coffee machine and they work for me. Wish I could help.
Question: Is there a way to find out how much caffine it has in it
Answer: It says they are packaged in the USA and 100 % Arabica coffee. I really like this coffee but it does not say where they’re made, just that they’re packaged in the USA

Subtle Earth Organic Coffee- Meduim-Dark Roast - 5LB Bag

Full body with a deep, rich, chocolaty flavor; a clean finish and low acidity. Smooth milk chocolate with notes of honey, caramel and cocoa. 100% Arabica coffee, Non GMO, Certified Organic by CCOF.

The slight caramelization of the natural sugars in the bean give this Medium- Dark coffee a touch of roastiness, while it still retains its natural flavor character, giving it a sweet, pleasant aftertaste.

Subtle Earth Organic Coffee is available in Light, Medium-Dark, and Dark Roast. Whole Bean Coffee or Single Serve Cups

Honduran Marcala

Subtle Earth Organic is an exceptional Honduran coffee from the Marcala region. No chemical inputs are used. The “cherries (fruit of the coffee bean),” are composted and used as fertilizer, along with vermiculture, and fewer insects are present at the altitude that it’s grown, so no insecticides are necessary. If there ever is a bug problem, farmers sometimes plant peppers as a repellent.

This high altitude coffee is very dense, and thus has “depth of flavor” and we are able to roast it just right to bring out its natural flavor characteristics and a wonderful sweetness.

How to brew the perfect cup of coffee:

Traditional Drip Machine: Add one level to slightly rounded measuring tablespoon (10g) of finely ground coffee (fine granular sand, not yet a powder) to each six ounce cup of water (177 ml) and adjust to taste.

French Press: Add 1-2 measuring tablespoons (10-20g) of coarse ground coffee per cup (177ml) of water and adjust to taste. Never add boiling water.

Espresso Machine: Fill porta-filter to line with espresso ground coffee. It’s important to get the precise grind to ensure maximum crema.

Hand Drip Method: Add 8-10 grams of medium-fine ground coffee per cup. Heat water to 190-195 degrees, (88-90.5 c) pre-soak grounds, slowly add water in a clockwise motion. Adjust to taste.

User questions & answers

Question: Is Newman’s ground gluten free
Answer: 2 Tablespoons = 1oz; assuming you use 2 T (1 oz) per cup of coffee, you will get 24 cups out of this bag.
Question: is this the same coffee as the "Bold" K cups
Answer: I just keep it it my pantry closet. After opening, we keep it in an airtight container. I don't know how long it will stay fresh, it never stays around here long enough to go stale! It's great coffee.
Question: Is this caffiene and acid free
Answer: I do add a little cashew milk to my coffee ... that's it. It just didn't have the richness and flavor I like.
Question: What process is used to decaffeinate this coffee
Answer: Hi PetarB, thanks for your purchase! Fresh roasted coffee requires a degassing valve that allows the naturally occouring CO2 to escape the bag, while not letting any oxygen in. We roast to order, in multiple small batch roasters, and fill the bags immediately after roasting, so if we didn't use a degassing valve, the bags would puff up and possibly rupture.Coffee that is packed without a degassing valve must sit for several days before being packed, and a "Nitrogen Flush" is often used to keep the packaging from "exploding." This type of coffee is usually very inexpensive, is produced in large volume, and is meant to sit in warehouses, distribution centers, and store shelves for a very long time (months and even years).Hope this helps. Thanks again for your purchase, we really appreciate the support.Darron "Don Pablo" Burke

Peak Performance High Altitude Organic Coffee. Fair Trade, Non GMO, and Beans Full Of Antioxidants! Medium Roast Low Acid Smooth Tasting USDA Certified Organic Ground Coffee 12oz Bag

Peak Performance Coffee

Based on 1 reviews Check latest price
  • Fair Trade - USDA Certified Organic - Single Origin - High Altitude. If We Could Make This Coffee Any Healthier We Would! Medium Roast. Also Comes With Free Special Report Called "How To Make The Healthiest Cup Of Coffee"
  • Healthy Coffee Rule #1) Always Go Organic. Why? Because conventional coffee is one of the most heavily treated crops. One of the many health risks is that they can act as "xenoestrogens" in your body disrupting balance for both men and women.
  • Healthy Coffee Rule #2) Coffee Grown At High Altitude Is Better. Why? Because the higher the altitude the coffee is grown at, the denser the bean. You may have heard the term "Strictly Hard Bean" (SHB) which denotes an especially dense, high-altitude coffee. This Peak Performance Organic Coffee grown in the Guatemalan Highlands is a perfect example of this. This higher elevation bean is more dense and thus of a higher quality grade. High Altitude Coffee also tends to have more antioxidants!
  • Healthy Coffee Rule #3) Single Origin Coffee Is Better. Why? Because while "Blended" Coffee like a "Breakfast Blend" might sound cool... there's a much higher likelihood that at least one of the bean varieties that went into that blend was contaminated meaning the entire batch is now contaminated.
  • Over 300,000 Happy Customers + 1-for-1 Donation To Vitamins Angels. Peak Performance is celebrating over 300,000 happy customers and we are also very proud of our 1-for-1 donation match program. For every unit you purchase, through our partnership with the nonprofit Vitamin Angels, we will supply a child at risk of malnutrition with vitamins for 1 year! So thank you for helping us continue this great cause!

User questions & answers

Question: What is the typical amount of time beans are shipped to customers after roasting
Answer: Hi Kristy, I apologize for the delayed reply, I did not know this question and answer section existed. I could go on and on about how some folks make money by creating a problem out of nowhere, and then charge for the solution, but instead I will refer you to this article: http://authoritynutrition.com/the-mycotoxins-in-coffee-myth/By "wet process" they are referring to how the coffee fruit is processed at origin, not how it is roasted. All of our coffees are wet processed except for some of our Brazils, and they are absolutely some of my favorite coffees! They are both dry processed and "semi-washed," and as a result are extremely rich and complex. We use it in our Signature Blend to add body and what I refer to as richness (some actually consider this harshness, but most self-proclaimed coffee aficionados love it). The Brazil plays very well with the Colombia in the blend, which has a much milder body character but is sweet, and the Guatemala has considerable depth of flavor, but is very smooth. The Guatemala is shade grown, and our farms in Colombia are Rainforest Certified. All of our other coffees either are or they are not shade grown. We source based on quality first, and _usually_ that criteria automatically includes environmental responsibility (if it doesn't then we address that through our Sharing Certified program). Besides being environmentally friendly, when you grow coffee in the shade, it deprives the plant of sunlight, and the beans take longer to mature. The longer they take, the denser they are, and there is a lot of flavor in that density. Guatemala and Honduras do this best, and the soil in those countries is full of sulfur from the volcanoes, and coffee plants love sulfur, so it's an ideal environmnet. All of our coffees, whether wet or dry processed are roasted for around 20 minutes at temperatures above 400 degrees, then we pack immediately into a high moisture barrier bag. We roast to order, and don't require large minimum orders from our customers. We ship to Amazon every two weeks, so the coffee is super fresh always. I should add that we roast in multiple small batch roasters, and because of this we do not have to "quench" the coffee to cool it, like many/most other bigger brand roasters. When big brand roasters, roast in 2,000 - 5,000 LB batches, water is sprayed on the roasted coffee beans to cool it, so it doesn't continue to roast (and burn) in it's own heat. I actually spoke to an engineer once who retired from a big brand roaster, who said he designed their system to add an ounce of water weight to each can, so they could increase their margins. This was back when they were packing in cans, and he said you could see a ring of rust around the top inside of the can. We would never compromise quality or Food Safety for added profit, and we want only to provide the freshest, best tasting coffee possible to our loyal customers.Hope this helps! Thanks so much for your interest!Darron "Don Pablo" Burke
Question: what kind of roast are these beans? light, medium, dark
Answer: My Best By date is on the bottom of the box, 2021-05-20 with batch: 1006224276; not black out
Question: How is this ground? I am looking for a coarse grind for a french press
Answer: Any machine that takes k-pods.
Question: Is any testing done in the United States to verify toxin or mold levels, and that the coffee is actually produced without pesticides
Answer: The Colombian brew is a medium blend but if you search for "Gevalia Dark" or "Gevalia Bold" that should return some options for you.

Product description

Peet's Coffee Organic French Roast, Dark Roast Ground Coffee; Our favorite beans for this deepest roast are from the leading Latin American origins, such as Guatemala and Colombia, where high altitudes enable coffee cherry to mature more slowly, becoming denser, harder, and packed with flavor. These inherently bright, juicy beans retain their bold complexity under the heat of a deep roast. To grow organic coffee is a commitment to environmental stewardship despite an inevitably smaller yield. Where conventional farming benefits from carefully formulated nutrients, organic farming is local and labor intensive, with resources like natural compost, fashioned on the farm. It’s more work to produce less coffee and we’re happy to support the extra effort. Enjoy this meticulously grown, deep-roasted coffee that is a bold dedication to flavor, farm, and future.

Question: This says "peetnik pack" but says 18 oz, & the ounce size is not displayed on the bag. other "peetnik paks" say 20z on the bag. authentic product
Answer: I bought 20 oz. bags of Peet's Coffee (in several flavors) and all bags displayed the words Peetnik Pack on top and stated the no. of ounces on both the top and bottom of the bags. I am certain that coffees I bought are authentic. I wouldn't know if the item you are asking about is authentic or not, wish I could help you more.
Question: Is Major Dickason 's Blend ground coffee fine grind or good for espresso
Answer: Thank you for your question and reaching out to us. Our Ground Coffee is our Drip grind. Drip grind is best for K-Cup refillable filters, pour over cone drips, cone/basket filters, and Chemex. It is a finer ground. We carry Espresso grind but Drip grind can be used for Espresso as well.

User questions & answers

Question: Are the bags plastic free
Answer: Yes it is tested TWICE for mold. First our green importers test and reject any coffee shipments if they had any mold, so it would never reach us. Then after we receive coffee from our green importers we also inspect for mold. Both our green importers and our business are certified FSMA facilities. (Food Safety Modernization Act) and our food safety processes are inspected regularly by the FDA.
Question: what is the Exp date of the coffee
Answer: Of course u can make this an expresso. All depends on how fine your coffee grinder can make it. It can make delicious expresso or any type of grind u prefer.
Question: Is this a 5lb bag or a 2lb bag - description header says 5lb
Answer: No it is not. They have 2 lbs decaf. I bought the coffee which is great and wonderful aroma chocolate & cofee infused very nice. Worth the money
Question: These beans are very oily. I read oily beans will ruin coffee grinders. Worried, just bought a new grinder. Is this true
Answer: Hi Grammy, thanks for reaching out. Yes, because it's 100% Arabica, grown between 4,000 - 5,000 feet, and roasted dark, it's as low in acidity as possible. A lot of people don't realize this, but the darker the coffee, the less acidity it actually has. The most important factor however, is the type of bean. Arabica coffee is much less acidic (and better tasting) than Robusta. Hope this helps, thanks so much for your interest in our coffee.

Cafe Cubano Roast– Our Signature Blend

Cafe Cubano Roast is our signature blend. Made with premium, specialty grade coffee, we use our signature Latin style slow-roasting process to provide a distinctly bold cup, with a sweet flavor, and smooth finish. As a child in Nicaragua, Martin Mayorga spent time at cigar factories with his father interacting with Cuban cigar makers who had fled Castro's government. He recalled the men playing dominos, talking about their plight upon leaving their home country, and drinking a distinctly dark and syrupy coffee. Later on when the Mayorga family moved to the U.S., Martin was able to appreciate first hand this rich coffee while spending time with Cuban immigrants in Miami.

The Perfect Cafe Cubano Roast Preparation:

Machine Espresso:

1:2.5 ratio | Grind Size: Espresso, Very Fine | Coffee Dose: 14g or 4 tbsp | Water Dose: 45ml or 1.5oz

Stove Top Espresso:

1:16 ratio | Grind Size: Fine | Coffee Dose: 22g or 6 tbsp | Water Dose: 350g or 12oz

Drip Coffee Maker:

1:21 ratio | Grind Size: Medium | Coffee Dose: 11g or 2.5 Tbsp | Water Dose: 240ml water or 8oz

Pour Over:

Sourcing Principles

We build direct, long-term relationships with small farmers and cooperatives that focus on organic, shade-grown, high-quality, specialty coffees.

Our efficient, forward-thinking direct supply chain allows us to support our farmers via access to better financing, cost management, and crop diversification. This ensures you’re getting flavorful, smooth coffee, while paying what is fair to you. It also ensures that farmers are treated equitably and are paid fairly, rewarding them for their hard work.

Our Purpose

We don’t just source and sell artisanal organic products. We exist and operate with the purpose of eliminating systemic poverty in Latin America through the responsible trade of artisanal organic foods.

We have dedicated our lives to creating a sustainable business model that puts farmers first as we believe that healthy farming communities will produce better quality products that ultimately will benefit our valued customers.

Roasting

In a world of mass automation, we roast all of our coffees manually, batch by batch, using our senses and math to guide us in craft roasting great quality coffee.

Subtle Earth Organic Coffee- Light Roast - 5LB Bag

Subtle fruit sweetness and bright, with notes of honey, caramel and cocoa. 100% Arabica coffee, Non GMO, Certified Organic by CCOF.

Lightly roasted to be caramely and consistent, smooth, bright, and easy to drink with a mild finish and a sweet, pleasant aftertaste.

Subtle Earth Organic Coffee is available in Light, Medium-Dark, and Dark Roast. Whole Bean Coffee or 100% Recyclable Single Serve Cups

Traditional Drip Machine:

Add one level to slightly rounded measuring tablespoon (10g) of finely ground coffee (fine granular sand, not yet a powder) to each six ounce cup of water (177 ml) and adjust to taste.

French Press:

Add 1-2 measuring tablespoons (10-20g) of coarse ground coffee per cup (177ml) of water and adjust to taste. Never add boiling water.

Espresso Machine:

Fill porta-filter to line with espresso ground coffee. It’s important to get the precise grind to ensure maximum crema.

Hand Drip Method:

Add 8-10 grams of medium-fine ground coffee per cup. Heat water to 190-195 degrees, (88-90.5 c) pre-soak grounds, slowly add water in a clockwise motion. Adjust to taste.
