User questions & answers
Question: | Can you confirm this is a 5 lb bsg? The size info is conflicting |
Answer: | I'm pretty certain that they are a universal pod. They work in my Hamilton beach coffee maker. |
Question: | Is it fair trade |
Answer: | That is a great point. I think we are flooding ourselves with BPA using K cups. Heating plastic is the worst thing you can do when trying to avoid BPA and we are super heating these platics then drinking the BPA. For me it's 2 cups a day forever. |
Question: | Is this coffee grown in one region |
Answer: | I have a Keurig Coffee machine and they work for me. Wish I could help. |
Question: | Is there a way to find out how much caffine it has in it |
Answer: | It says they are packaged in the USA and 100 % Arabica coffee. I really like this coffee but it does not say where they’re made, just that they’re packaged in the USA |

Cafe Cubano Roast– Our Signature Blend
Cafe Cubano Roast is our signature blend. Made with premium, specialty grade coffee, we use our signature Latin style slow-roasting process to provide a distinctly bold cup, with a sweet flavor, and smooth finish. As a child in Nicaragua, Martin Mayorga spent time at cigar factories with his father interacting with Cuban cigar makers who had fled Castro's government. He recalled the men playing dominos, talking about their plight upon leaving their home country, and drinking a distinctly dark and syrupy coffee. Later on when the Mayorga family moved to the U.S., Martin was able to appreciate first hand this rich coffee while spending time with Cuban immigrants in Miami.

Our efficient, forward-thinking direct supply chain allows us to support our farmers via access to better financing, cost management, and crop diversification. This ensures you’re getting flavorful, smooth coffee, while paying what is fair to you. It also ensures that farmers are treated equitably and are paid fairly, rewarding them for their hard work.
Our Purpose
We don’t just source and sell artisanal organic products. We exist and operate with the purpose of eliminating systemic poverty in Latin America through the responsible trade of artisanal organic foods.
We have dedicated our lives to creating a sustainable business model that puts farmers first as we believe that healthy farming communities will produce better quality products that ultimately will benefit our valued customers.
Roasting
In a world of mass automation, we roast all of our coffees manually, batch by batch, using our senses and math to guide us in craft roasting great quality coffee.
We roast on batch roasters at our facilities in Rockville, MD and Miami, FL, both of which are FDA inspected and SQF certified. We focus on roasting using our signature Latin, slow-roasting process that provides our customers the smoothest, most flavorful coffees--always roasting fresh every day.
Our Origins
Mayorga was founded over 23 years ago by Martin Mayorga with the purpose of supporting small producers in Latin America, where he was born and raised.
The company has grown tremendously based on its model of equality, efficiency, and quality. The success of the brand has fueled the company's reach to work with high-quality, organic, specialty grade coffees representing over 3,500 small producers throughout Latin America.

User questions & answers
Question: | are these beans "oily"? thanks |
Answer: | hi. the beans are not oily at all. they are perfectly roasted. oily is a misconception that oily is the freshest bean, but it can be quite the opposite. depending on what type of machine you have the Lavazza beans are the best. We have a Gaggia Titanium and all other beans get stuck/clogged. hope this helps. |
Question: | Would this coffee be good to use in a regular drip coffeemaker, or is an espresso maker required? Thank you |
Answer: | It will make a smooth, flavorable cup of regular coffee. Just grind the beans for a drip coffee machine. The Super Crema Espresso Beans are an Italian roast (medium) rather than a dark roast that is sometimes bitter. Some mornings when time is tight, I make a pot of regular coffee and steam milk for cafe au lait. |
Question: | How many servings are in this bag |
Answer: | It all depend on how you use it. I use 19 grams of beans to pull a 36 gram 28 second espresso shot (I use a non-pressurized filter). 2.2 lbs = 1000 grams, thus, I get about 52 cappuccinos. I probably average about 2.5 per day, therefore, each bag lasts me about 3 weeks. With a pressurized filter, the standard is 7 grams per shot, therefore, 140 shots. Using my chemex I will use 10 grams per cup, therefore I get 100 cups. Many people use 7 grams per cup, so they will get 140 cups. Hope this helps. (btw, this comes to about 45 cents per cappuccino, with milk it comes to 60 cents each, at 2.5 per day I spend $1.50 for what would cost me $10 per day at Starbucks (the McDonald's of coffee). |
Question: | What is the difference going from Super Crema to Gran Crema |
Answer: | Both are medium roasts. However, the Gran Crema is 40% South America arabica and 60% Southeast Asia robusta beans, where Super Crema is 60% Southeast Asia robusta beans and and 40% South American arabica beans, so the Super Crema is going to be more delicate with brighter tones (more fruity) while the Gran Crema is going to have deeper and richer tones, more chocolate-y and nutty. For those who say that these beans are bitter, they--or their machine--may be overextracting the beans. If grinding your own, may want to try a coarser grind to make less bitter. If sour, may want to try grinding finer. Can be a little difficult to distinguish the two, so may want to do some research online for how to differentiate. Regarding the flavor of creama (not this product, but generally speaking), creama usually does not taste very good. What crema does help do is allow one to identify how well their extraction went. |

Peet's Coffee Organic French Roast, Dark Roast Whole Bean Coffee; Our favorite beans for this deepest roast are from the leading Latin American origins, such as Guatemala and Colombia, where high altitudes enable coffee cherry to mature more slowly, becoming denser, harder, and packed with flavor. These inherently bright, juicy beans retain their bold complexity under the heat of a deep roast. To grow organic coffee is a commitment to environmental stewardship despite an inevitably smaller yield. Where conventional farming benefits from carefully formulated nutrients, organic farming is local and labor intensive, with resources like natural compost, fashioned on the farm. It’s more work to produce less coffee and we’re happy to support the extra effort. Enjoy this meticulously grown, deep-roasted coffee that is a bold dedication to flavor, farm, and future.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does it say coffee and tea? I'm still just getting coffee with my French roast, right |
Answer: | The fair trade certification gives a false sense of security to consumers which is why it’s not used by Starbucks or Peet’s anymore. It only ensures that a minimum price was paid for the coffee. It doesn’t ensure coffee quality or production standards. And it doesn’t ensure the pickers are paid fairly, only the farmer. And the certification just adds cost. Most ethical coffee roasters come up with their own program which pays the farmer more for higher quality beans and production standards. Good roasters are also very involved and visit/oversee the farmers operation frequently. These direct relationships are usually most beneficial for everyone, including the farmer. |
Question: | Is there any carbs |
Answer: | Hi Doris, thanks for reaching out. Yes, this is a single origin Honduras from the Marcala region. Hope this helps, thanks for your interest in our coffee.Darron "Don Pablo" Burke |
Question: | Does Peet’s make a decaf whole bean |
Answer: | Hi Charyl, thanks for reaching out! That's a little tricky to answer, as caffeine levels vary depending on the bean used (Arabica vs. Robusta), level of roast, and your preparation. We use only 100% Arabica, and roast most of our coffees to medium-dark, so you get a lift, without getting nervous or jittery, and no upset stomach. Coffees with higher levels of caffeine are either a lower quality Robusta bean, a significantly lighter roasted Arabica, or caffeine has been artificially added to an unnatural level. On another note, some people mistakenly equate bitterness (usually from dark roasted coffee) to strength (caffeine level), when in fact a darker roasted coffee has less caffeine (unless it has been artificially added). Hope this helps! Thanks for your interest in our coffee! Darron "Don Pablo" Burke |

Question: | Why aren't there any "5 Star" reviews in the past year? Reviews from over a year ago aren't helpful if the taste has changed as I saw in 1 comment |
Answer: | I have been ordering this coffee for several years and still love it. I recently switched from using an AeroPress to cold brew and it is still my favorite every day blend. I have tried others and aside from their own Grizzly Claw I have not been able to find another blend that satisfies my taste buds as well. Glady give it 5 stars |
Question: | How long the time I can store this coffee |
Answer: | I have stored UNOPENED, SEALED 5-pound bags of several different brands of coffee — and this is the important part — in the back of the BOTTOM basket in my freezer successfully (so far!l) for almost seven — that's right SEVEN — YEARS, now. I "Sharpie" the date on each bag upon the start of what may be a long, cold "slumber" in the bowels of my "not-so-cryogenic" freezer, only to choose an "oldie but goodie" from the collection at some far future date. I have yet to be disappointed from opening and enjoying the exquisite aroma, flavor, smoothness, and even "elegance" of the contents of a 5 or 6-plus year old bag. I have done this ONLY with UNOPENED, SEALED *WHOLE BEAN* coffee. I did try some bags of unopened, sealed GROUND coffee, but couldn't get them to "survive" long term freezer storage more than about 18 months before their respective "flavor", aroma, and "smoothness" profiles started to noticeably diminish. |
Question: | What is the different between Kick ass dark & Three sisters medium |
Answer: | Just a different roast. I can't tell you the taste difference because we've always drink the Kick Ass because of it's low acidity. |
Question: | are the beans in this coffee wet processed, and therefore free of mold |
Answer: | Fair trade coffee is not guaranteed to be free of mold or mycotoxins. Bad beans can slip through and even often do. Mycotoxins are present in a large percentage of coffee beans and make it into the final drink. However, their levels are far below the safety limit. Unfortunately, fair trade beans are all over the place on the spectrum. It's nice that the market "drives" prices, but in reality, we need to get away from the system they are using currently. Kicking Horse has pretty good coffee though. For almost 10 bucks for 10oz, I'm gonna try to just support locally roasted beans. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What’s the bean origin for this variety |
Answer: | Well.. maybe. I bought mine on June 8th, 2019. There is a sticker on the bottom that says "best if used by March 15th of 2020". I suppose we could assume that they are giving every bag produced a 1 year expire?? If so, mine was just under 3 months roasted when I got it. |

User questions & answers
Question: | best before date |
Answer: | Its a blend. |
Question: | Is this dark roast oily? Can it be used in an fully-automatic machine |
Answer: | No, this is not a flavored coffee per se. It just means that through the roasting process there is naturally some subtle tastes that give hints of these flavors; this is a natural part of roasting any coffee bean, as all coffee has residual flavor profiles from the roasting process. |
Question: | How old were the beans you were delivered? Was it roasted more than a month ago |
Answer: | Beans are dry. Do not use espresso machine. Flavor of coffee is fantastic though. |
Question: | how is this compared to the Lavazza Super Crema Espresso? which is better |
Answer: | All coffee from Mayorga Organics is high quality, specialty-grade, 100% Arabica |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is the pacific rim coffee non-gmo |
Answer: | If you buy pre-ground, the best buy is before you ever bought it. With whole beans, don't grind until immediately before you use it. Don't buy more than you can use within a couple of months. First order arrived 3 weeks from roasting date and tasted great . Second order arrived 6 months from roasting date, much longer than I would have liked, however, still tastes great! |
Question: | What is the coffee bean origin? Where in the US is it roasted |
Answer: | They ARE oily now. I have used these beans in my super automatic machine for 3 years, UNTIL the last few batches (I have on subscription with Amazon and use only these in 1kg bag per month for 3 years). Now they are so oily they clogged my grinder in 2 bags. I can see it staining my hopper. Now looking for dryer beans. |
Question: | Is the Viennese roast 365 ground |
Answer: | 4 months past the best by date. Same issued occurred when ordering Lavazza Super Crema beans from Amazon. Orginal product was outdated by 11months, its Amazon replacement was also outdated by 5 months. When ordering this Lavazza coffee beans from Amazon, expect the product to be past its best by date. |
Question: | How much chocolate does it actually contain |
Answer: | I like this one better. I tried both drip and espresso. A lot richer. I got it from Costco. $12.99 for 2.2lb bag. |

User questions & answers
Question: | What material is the bag made from? Is it paper, plastic |
Answer: | For ~40 yearsI have been using a French burr grinder manufactured in the 1870's. I have always preferred a dark roast oily bean. I have not have I had any issues with my grinder. I shy away from "dry" beans believing them to have either been roasted to long or at to high a temperature. The true flavor is primarily in the natural oils to befound in the beans. |
Question: | do your beans contain acrylamide |
Answer: | I think it is smooth and strong, which I like. |
Question: | Hello, I am getting ready to order a few pounds of your coffee. Do you also sell the coffee cups featured below in the listed item |
Answer: | Yes you can. I have made cold brew with this coffee in my French press several times now. My perfect ratio is 60 grams of coffee and 600ml of filtered water. Stir and let sit 12 hours and strain. If you like it a little stronger. Use 60 grams coffee to 500ml water. Weigh your coffee AND water. To make, I put 1/3 cup of cold brew coffee concentrate in my mug. I add 1/3 cup of almond milk with a drizzle of maple syrup mixed into it. I then add 2/3 cup of refrigerated, filtered water. |
Question: | When is it roasted |
Answer: | Amazon sellers don't offer every roast. You could try checking back or contacting the seller directly. Hope this helps! |

Subtle Earth Organic Coffee- Dark Roast - 2LB Bag
Full body with a deep, rich, chocolaty flavor; a clean finish and low acidity. Smooth milk chocolate with notes of honey, caramel and cocoa. 100% Arabica coffee, Non GMO, Certified Organic by CCOF.
A full caramelization of the natural sugars in the bean give this Dark coffee an intense roastiness, while it still retains it’s full body character and smooth, pleasant aftertaste.
Subtle Earth Organic Coffee is available in Light, Medium-Dark, and Dark Roast. Whole Bean Coffee or 100% Recyclable Single Serve Cups
Honduran Marcala
Subtle Earth Organic is an exceptional Honduran coffee from the Marcala region. No chemical inputs are used. The “cherries (fruit of the coffee bean),” are composted and used as fertilizer, along with vermiculture, and fewer insects are present at the altitude that it’s grown, so no insecticides are necessary. If there ever is a bug problem, farmers sometimes plant peppers as a repellent.
This high altitude coffee is very dense, and thus has “depth of flavor” and we are able to roast it just right to bring out its natural flavor characteristics and a wonderful sweetness.
How to brew the perfect cup of coffee:
Traditional Drip Machine:
Add one level to slightly rounded measuring tablespoon (10g) of finely ground coffee (fine granular sand, not yet a powder) to each six ounce cup of water (177 ml) and adjust to taste.
French Press:
Add 1-2 measuring tablespoons (10-20g) of coarse ground coffee per cup (177ml) of water and adjust to taste. Never add boiling water.
Espresso Machine:
Fill porta-filter to line with espresso ground coffee. It’s important to get the precise grind to ensure maximum crema.
Hand Drip Method:
Add 8-10 grams of medium-fine ground coffee per cup. Heat water to 190-195 degrees, (88-90.5 c) pre-soak grounds, slowly add water in a clockwise motion. Adjust to taste.
