Answer:	You are not able to shorten this fan. This fan comes with a 10 inch down rod and that down rod does need to be used for proper installation.
Question:	How can I get google play store to work? I keep getting a device is not play protect certified message
Answer:	We do not recommend directly wiring this fan to switches and this has been manufactured and designed to be used with the remote that comes with it. If you do not follow the included instructions and directly wire this fan, it could affect the performance of the fan.
