| Answer: | I've got 2 ceiling-mounted Omada APs at opposite ends of my smallish house (about 40 feet apart). The beauty of the Omada Cloud Controller is that you can easily see who is connected to which AP. Sometimes things switch when moved and sometimes not. For example my MB Air M1 was in the living room, but switched when I moved it to the master bedroom. But my LG Stylo 5+ phone remained connected to the living room AP when moved to the bedroom. Not sure why the phone didn't switch, other than it had enough signal strength to remain connected, and so ignored the AP that was almost directly overhead. Maybe it's in the phone's programming. The key is to use the same SSID for all APs, and then let them pick their own channel. Note that my APs and Cloud Controller are hard-wired to a little POE switch (Cudy GS1010P 10-port switch). The APs came with power injectors, but the Cloud Controller did not (it can take power via a mini-USB connector if you don't have a POE switch). |
