This is a set of 2 Radio Shack 3-Channel FM wireless intercoms. They are model 43-490 and operate on 120 volt household current. They have a Call button which sounds a paging alarm on the other unit. You press the Talk button to send your message to the other unit. There is also a Lock button which lets you constantly monitor the unit like a baby monitor. The signal is transmitted over the electrical wiring in your home. The 2 units must be connected to the same wiring system to communicate with each other. For example, they would not work if you placed one unit in your house and one unit in your neighbors house because each house has its own separate electrical system.

Answer:	Yes you can. We did exactly that with four of them and just settled on having all of them on the same channel. Two will have to be but it is easier for everyone to hear everything in our office since we move around.

Answer:	Yes a power adapter does come with each one and I haven't had any problems so far. I only use the power adapters so I can't answer to the "eat batteries" question.

Answer:	Each box comes with 2 units. I bought 2 boxes so I have 4 units. To make them communicate, you merely set their channel and sub channel identically. I purchased from Amazon....
