Answer:	I haven't tried to. But it's possible if you have it set to the voice activated setting more than likely. I'd assume the battery would die if it was just on full blown record setting the whole time.

Answer:	Hi...The recorder is not always on. To turn it off, press and hold the round Play/Pause button and you will see a countdown on the monitor; 1...2...3, Bye, Bye. Then the monitor goes dark. I haven't set a passcode so to turn it on I press the same button until Welcome appears on the monitor.

Answer:	I've used this for many, many concerts. You MUST make sure that you set it in music mode (which defaults the volume level to low). As long as you do that, you'll have pretty good sound quality even if it is very loud or close to the stage. I hide the recorder near my lap, and so the chairs block some of the sound, and so I usually give it a boost between 1k-2k afterwards.
Question:	How easy is it to use with iMac? I read Dragon dictation is not compatible. Does that mean there is no way to copy the recordings onto the iMac
Answer:	Don't know if this helps, but I copy files onto my macbook Air quite easily. I just connect it via the USB connection, open the icon for the recorder, open the folder that has the file I want to copy and drag it where I want it on my computer. I haven't mastered file management on the recorder itself yet, but it really isn't a problem, because I only really care what folder a file is in on my computer. I play recordings on i-tunes. If I can be of any other help, let me know. I use it to record interviews and have played around a lot with different situations. The size makes it easy to carry it in my purse and pull out as needed.

Answer:	There are two versions of this unit, the DP-24SD and the DP-32. The DP-24 has 12 mono channels and 6 "Fixed"stereo channels. The DP-32 has 8 mono channels and 10 stereo or mono channels. You can only record 8 tracks at once so either 8/mono or 4/stereo (each stereo channel counts as 2 tracks) or any combination not to exceed 8 tracks. The processing and Physical layout are the same pretty much the same.

As with any external speaker/headphone pay attention to specs on impedance (which seem reasonable normal in this case)., it has a reasonably powerful speaker for such a small device. You can adjust volume from the playback interface while playing. Volume control seems awkward at first, but it is fine - actually consult manual diagram and it is easy to access and adjust once you are clear how. See the operating diagrams on volume control steps. They make it much more clear as to how to quickly operate the device properly. The menu inside the device is not overly complex and with a little clarity from the quick start and operating manual documentation it is not hard to fully set up and use the recorder. It also has jacks for stereo headphone and microphone. Three mics are built in. The speaker is on the back top of the device. Very good for such a small compact device. This is a high quality device consistent with Olympus quality. I can hear it fine with volume set halfway or less. You must control volume from the player controls on screen which is fine. There is no physical volume wheel or slide switch. Sound quality is good and adjustable with an profile equalizer for type of source like e.g., music, rock, jazz, classical. Has scenes (modes) for recording and playback. Personally, I am just unhappy about the lack of native Audible compatibility, per my review. If it had that I would be very happy with it. I will probably keep it and add buy another recorder like DM-620 for Audible. Otherwise, so far I like the recorder in terms of operation and rest of features. Choose carefully between the various models in terms of features, model line and price. It is just not what I needed it for and was misled by Olympus pre-sales. Olympus by the way makes tremendous cameras as well. Yes I know, a little more than the question you asked. internal Menu very good and easy to navigate. Control design is very good and positive.
