Question:	What base station can i use with these
Answer:	to my knowledge and i could be wrong...any radios being operated in the FRS frequency range have to be FCC certified, non-programmable, permanent ptt-busy channel lock out, as we all permanent transmitting powers (cannot modify settings to output more than half watt on FRS freq. and 2watts on GMRS freq.) If it is programmed with ANY GMRS frequencies, it needs a GMRS license to operate, (PARTS 95 certified device must be used with this license), using a call sign is required. SO, short answer is, if you can reprogram it, it cannot legally be used on FRS or GMRS frequencies. The UV-5 cannot legally transmit on FRS/GMRS frequencies either, and a HAM license does not license you to operate on GMRS frequencies. Again, i could be wrong. but i'v been looking deeply into these matters, just got my GMRS license, MIDLAND PARTS 95 cert radios on their way, and working on getting my HAM technician's license, most of it seems to be, "don't do this/do this" sort of stuff.

Answer:	you can set the channel as far as others go you just have to find a channel that's open it has 22 so its not hard to do.thats what I do when hunting and there are a bunch of others with radios it works out fine.

Answer:	A GMRS license is only needed when you use over 2 watts of power. This radio can put out up to 0.13 watts of power, so it is well within the 2 watt limit for unlicensed usage in the USA. If you do decide to get a much more powerful radio, with an output of > 2 watts, then you would get a license (as I also have) that costs $70 for 10 years. ($7/year).
