Solar charging is very very slow and if you were to charge say to 18650 which are common for Vaping mods and other things a mid-size solar panel would probably take several days to charge them two their full capacity so the fact that there's no USB slot for a solar panel is actually a good thing because it wouldn't be practical whatsoever

If you didn’t charge the batteries to begin with, running them down is a bad idea for long term performance, as is draining them for weeks on end, but those things should not cause the total failure you describe. Answer:	It will charge 14500. Same physical size as an AA battery. But, the voltage is different. This charger is intended for Li-Ion batteries only. The 14500’s are 3.6v. A standard AA is only 1.5v. I wouldn’t attempt to charge them with this charger.
