User questions & answers

Question: Hi, does AC adapter support 240V supply? Thanks
Answer: Yes, it has universal 110-220 power adapter
Question: I have a at lp-60 record player that is connected into my sonos system via the sonos:connect, but the volume is extremely low. will this resolve it
Answer: If its the Audio Technia LP-60, it has its own preamp, just make sure its set to "line level" not phono. You shouldn't need this preamp, but it will sound better than the built in one on the turntable.
Question: I have a vintage turntable connected directly to a set of powered bookshelf speakers, but the volume is very low.will the phono box e preamp fix this
Answer: So do you have the ground wire connected to anything? What connection to the speakers? Unless the speakers have a PHONO input I'd recommend that you use a preamp both to ground the turntable and it will boost the power for sound.
Question: Does this unit ship with US power supply
Answer: no, mine shipped w/ a European power supply, had to send it back.

User questions & answers

Question: is it works with 220v
Answer: It should: the power supply says 100-240v and 50/60hz
Question: I just took delivery of a S2 - The tubes don't glow or even get hot (just slightly warm) - is this normal or a sign of bad tubes
Answer: One tube serves left channel and one tube serves right channel. If a tube isn’t working, the channel will not produce sound. You can see the tubes glow a certain angles, but not all angles. The box gets very warm to hot, but not so hot that that you can’t touch it. I had a tube burn out a few months after purchase. The tube did not glow and the channel was dead. I ordered replacement tubes (see my review) and it has been working great since installing the new tubes.

User questions & answers

Question: Does the unit come with a remote control
Answer: IAs mentioned, it comes with a small "credit card" sized remote, but there is also a snazzy aluminum one that allegedly can send Play/Pause/Next Track commands to the software controlling it. It is called the Control It Pre Box S2 Digital
Question: Can you use foobar2000 with this dac
Answer: It works. However, when I play a 24/192kHz FLAC file on foobar the DAC's display shows 44.1kHz. If I play the same song with Roon I see the correct 192kHz on the display. To my very amateur ears Roon sounds better. There are probably settings or preferences on foobar for this sort of thing. I just do not use them.
Question: Does this unit fully unfold the MQA audio
Answer: Yes it fully decodes mqa audio.
Question: Is the digital display the only difference between this and the pro-ject head box s
Answer: I believe, unless I am mistaken, along with the digital display some of the other differences are MQA processing, 512 DSD (as opposed to 256 on head box) and dual 9038 dacs (as opposed to single on head box).
