2 best headphones for runnings

Headphones for running are designed to provide a comfortable and secure fit while delivering quality audio to enhance your workout experience. Here's what you should know about headphones for running:

  1. Earbud Design: Running headphones typically feature an in-ear or earbud design. This design is popular because it offers a secure fit that prevents the headphones from falling out during vigorous exercise.

  2. Sweat and Water Resistance: Look for running headphones that are sweat and water-resistant or have an IPX rating. These headphones are built to withstand moisture and can handle sweat and light rain without damage.

  3. Wireless Connectivity: Wireless Bluetooth headphones are a preferred choice for runners as they eliminate the hassle of tangled cords and offer greater freedom of movement. They connect wirelessly to your smartphone or music player.

  4. Battery Life: Consider the battery life of your running headphones, especially if you plan on using them for long-distance runs. A longer battery life ensures your headphones won't run out of power during your workout.

  5. Sound Quality: While sound quality is important, it's often secondary to comfort and safety during running. Look for headphones that provide clear sound without compromising on comfort and safety features.

  6. Secure Fit: The headphones should come with different-sized ear tips or wings to ensure a snug and secure fit in your ears. Some models have ear hooks or loops to keep the headphones in place during vigorous activity.

  7. Noise Isolation vs. Awareness: Choose headphones that match your preference for environmental awareness. Some models provide excellent noise isolation to block out external sounds, while others have open designs that allow you to hear your surroundings for safety.

  8. Control Buttons and Microphone: Running headphones often include control buttons for adjusting volume, skipping tracks, and taking calls. Many also feature built-in microphones for hands-free phone calls during your run.

  9. Reflective or Visibility Features: For running safety, consider headphones with reflective elements or bright colors to make you more visible to others, especially if you run in low-light conditions.

  10. Carrying Case and Accessories: Some running headphones come with a carrying case or pouch for easy storage and transport. Check if the headphones include additional accessories like different ear tip sizes, charging cables, or cable management clips.

  11. Compatibility: Ensure that the headphones you choose are compatible with your smartphone or music player's operating system (iOS, Android, etc.).

  12. Brand and Reviews: Well-known brands such as Bose, JBL, Sony, and Beats offer various running headphone models. Reading user reviews and expert recommendations can help you make an informed decision.

When selecting running headphones, prioritize comfort, durability, and safety features, as these are crucial for an enjoyable and safe workout experience. Finding the right balance between sound quality and functionality will help you choose the best headphones for your running needs.

User questions & answers

Question: Is this the new version that was to be launched in August 2016? If not, when is the new version being released for retail
Answer: yes. This is the newest version released in August, 2016.
Question: How do these fit, compared to the wired version with slightly different tips? Are they wedged into your ear canal, like most other in-ear designs
Answer: I have an earlier Bose version, where the ear phone is mounted on a very sophisticated ear bud that seats perfectly in the antihelix of the pinna (outer ear), thereby gently resting in the ear canal itself. That is a MAJOR design advantage, not only in comfort, but also in safety, in that by avoiding pressure against the skin of the ear canal, the chance for discomfort / infection / inflammation is vastly reduced. There is nothing else like the old design on the market. I would only purchase the new model with the assurance that it faithfully incorporated the revolutionary advantages of the 4 older models I have purchased and given as gifts.
Question: Just how water/sweat resistant are they in use
Answer: I've had these 7 months and have LOVED them. But... I just ran a little over 2 hrs in constant light drizzle and they stopped working a little over halfway through. I thought they were dead... but ever hopeful I let them dry thoroughly then plugged them in to charge. About 15 min later I was able to turn them on and it talked to me as usual... "battery 40%, connected to..." I left them charging but when I came back to check on progress an hour or so later, all lights were out and I can't turn it on. Will see if Bose will replace. Bottom line: great in dry weather, very sketchy when damp or wet!
Question: When you are on a phone call, can the caller hear a noisy environment? i.e. People talking in the background, tv, radio, etc
Answer: I've been told time and time again that callers can hear everything in the background, these are my workout headphones though which they are amazing for. I use Plantronics for business calls.
