Answer:	I've never used it that way, but it should work fine. I use this strap on my Kindle Voyage and I have it attached diagonally. The little ring on the strap slides from one end to the other so you're able to always find a comfortable position. It was a great purchase.

My favorite feature, though, was being able to prop it up with the ring. It worked great. Sadly, today, 2.5 months later, the ring suddenly and for no discernible reason, the ring became loosey goosey, spining around with no tension at all. It looks like there is a pin or a tiny screw that had loosened up, but I was unable to see any way to tighten it up.
