You will have to tell comcast that you are doing this, then you don't have to pay their rental fee. I have my own modem and router, have for years. It pays for itself to do it this way!
Question:	Will this sync and interface with tp-link omada systems
Answer:	I had an older NetGear extender (5 years or so, plugged into the wall, dual band). I just bought this to replace it and like it a lot better. It automatically finds the signals and keeps you going. My NG extender gave me a 2G and a 5G connection separately. So I had to constantly disconnect my WiFi on devices and choose the other when the connection was crappy or lost. No more of that!! My internet is one thing now and that's worth the price of admission. Also, love love the app so that I can actually see all devices using it. And the security updates are great since I'm working from home now and have to use company programs.

Answer:	The security gateway is intended to integrate with the UniFi platform and the integration is solid but still a little limited feature wise still. Administration of the gateway is literally done through UniFi; you don't really access the gateway directly. The EdgeRouters are their own standalone platform, development and web based options are farther along but no UniFi development. If you have a heavily Ubiquiti based network and want everything talking to each other, the security gateway is better. If you want to treat your router as a router and nothing more, the EdgeRouter line makes more sense.
Question:	Which is the better buy: tp-link ac1900 or ac2600 - and why? (i'm not real hip to routers
Answer:	The ability to use the VoIP port as a second WAN has been added to the latest controller software. The feature itself is currently in beta but seems to work in limited testing

Answer:	Yes, you can set it up in bridge mode.
Question:	What is the coverage range
Answer:	I use an Edgerouter (ER-POE5). I also use some products out of the Unifi line, like the Unifi Access Points with the Unifi Controller software installed on a Raspberry Pi. I don't specifically use the Unifi Security Gateway. I would say the main difference though is the way you manage the product. My EdgeRouter is more or less "standalone managed". It has a console port you can connect to, or you can manage it via the built in web interface, or you can SSH into it and use the CLI. Honestly, I really like the EdgeRouter because it does everything I need it to do very easily. It is capable of higher traffic volumes than this security gateway (my model does 2+ million packets per second), and it has great features like DHCP, a built in firewall, QOS, DNS, etc. It's relatively straightforward to figure it out. But it doesn't integrate into the "Unifi Controller" for centralized management. And that's really the big sell when it comes to the Unifi Security Gateway. You can install a single controller, and use that to manage all your Unifi devices. I have that installed to manage two access points. It may be a bit overkill for that. But, if you are at a school with a bunch of access points and switches (Unifi switches can also be managed through controller), then then Unifi Security Gateway might be nice if you want just a "single pane of glass". I would just look through the feature list carefully for the USG, and if it has the features you need, and if you are going to be buying all your switches and APs from the Unifi line also, then go for it as it may simplify your life. If this is going to be your only Ubiquiti product, then I probably recommend a standalone EdgeRouter that you manage directly.

Answer:	If you mean to connect this range extender to another extender, just make sure to choose the first extender's SSID during setup so it'll connect to the extended network.

Answer:	When you set this up, the setup program will tell you if the unit is too far or too close to the router. It will work on different floors, I have mine on the second floor and the router is in the basement.

Answer:	Hi. The mesh system is independent beside your modem router, so it does not matter whether you disable the wireless on modem or not, it will not affect the function.
Question:	Any update on the ability to do dhcp reserved? i need this to work properly with wemo. would not have purchased if i had know it could not do this
Answer:	Buyer beware, you have no control over switching between 5 ghz and 2.4 ghz, this mesh system constantly and automatically switches devices between the two frequencies. If you have devices that communicate to each other in only 2.4 ghz or 5 ghz, you devices will stop communicating when one is on 2.4 ghz and the other is on 5 ghz and you have zero control over this problem which is a major flaw in this system.
Question:	Does one have control over the ip range setup? i currently have a home network with servers and nas that are static. would rather not change them
Answer:	Thank you for your question. Our mesh system supports to edit IP range, go to the App - Settings - DHCP Server. But please kindly note that you could only change the part of 'x' in 192.168.x.1. By the way, it does not support assign IP manually. Thanks for your understanding.

Question:	is this te 3rd Gen hub
Answer:	As long as your router also has an ethernet port. This is to replace your wifi network. For instance, I have a cable modem with two ethernet ports and a wifi network. I disabled the wifi on my cable modem and plugged this Samsung into the ethernet port. Then changed all my devices to attach to the new wifi network provided by this device. I could have probably just used the same SSID for the new network and not require changing any of the other devices but decided to create a new one.
Question:	Can this work without Ethernet wire plugged in, if the main hub has Ethernet wire plugged in itself
Answer:	The units I purchased (Nov. 2018) support port forwarding and uPNP. They do not support DDNS. There is no newer firmware, and no USB port. I'm pretty sure these are the same units being shipped today. A few things to consider: These units were designed by Plume and are managed with a special version of the Plume app. However, you cannot call Plume for support (they will send you to Samsung), and Samsung SmartThings support knows next to nothing about them (as of July 2020). They will not take Plume firmware updates, because they've been modified for the SmartThings hub functionality, and Samsung has not updated the WiFi software on them since October of 2018 (they have updated the Hub software many times, which happens automatically). They don't have many other customization features that you would expect from a typical WiFi router, either. They are very much 'plug and play' devices for people that just want stuff to work, and they do well at that. If you want more functionality (as I did), you can put them in 'bridge mode', which disables the router, firewall, and DHCP functions, and then did all the fancy stuff with a typical WiFi router and firewall (you could use your old WiFi router with the WiFi disabled); the pods are then strictly for the WiFi part of the setup - set the SSID and password on them, and you are done. Just don't forget that your cable modem and router/firewall are also potential performance bottlenecks separate from the WiFi. The basic 'mesh' functionality is automatic, works well, and is seamless. It will significantly improve coverage in your home without any extra work. But for the best performance, there is definitely a benefit in running an Ethernet cable to each device back to your router or cable modem (whether in bridge mode or not). This avoids multiple WiFi hops and reduces WiFi spectrum congestion. It requires no configuration change, they figure it out among themselves. If you can do this, there is one other thing that you might find convenient, and that is to run PoE (Power over Ethernet) and get rid of the power supply - nice if you have them stuck on the ceiling. This is not a function of the pod, but you need a PoE switch or PoE power injectors on one end, and then a PoE adapter to plug in to the pod end (a little split cable thingy converting from Ethernet in to Ethernet out + power out). That's more than most people will bother with, but it does work. The 'SmartHub' function will be taken on by the first one plugged in when you originally connect them, and this particular device will remain the hub forever, so if that one is unplugged, one of the others will not take over that job unless you reset them all. All in all, they have worked well for me (I'm a network and security engineer) with over 50 WiFi devices running, and individual WiFi nodes getting SpeedTest numbers of over 500Mbps down (my base XFinity service is 720 Mbps down, faster than most WiFi devices). Just don't ask Samsung SmartThings support too many questions (Like a) why does the app always tell me my network is down, when the app is clearly running over it? Or b) why do they still have 1.5 year old code when I get messages that they have auto-updated regularly?) Such questions will just confuse them - they really don't know, and they will take 1-2 weeks for them to say that they don't know. (Answers: a) because the app doesn't understand bridge mode - I tried it and told them; and b) they only update the hub firmware, not the Plume firmware - support didn't even know there WERE two different pieces of firmware until I gave them the two version #s).

Answer:	No need to connect WiFi and Bluetooth. As long as it is a device with Zigbee function, you can connect the zigbee smart plug. For example, alexa echo plus, just plug in and ask "Alexa, discover device".

Answer:	Sure, zigbee plug is compatible with smartthings hub. They work very well together. I plan to buy more smart plugs to use with my home equipment.
