12 best netgear hdmi switches

Netgear, a well-known brand in networking products and electronics, offers HDMI switches designed to enhance your home entertainment setup.HDMI switches are devices that allow you to connect multiple HDMI sources (such as gaming consoles, Blu-ray players, or streaming devices) to a single HDMI input on your TV or display. Here's some information about Netgear HDMI switches:

  1. Port Options: Netgear HDMI switches come in various configurations, typically offering multiple HDMI input ports (e.g., 2, 4, or more) and a single HDMI output port. The number of ports you need depends on the number of HDMI sources you want to connect to your TV.

  2. Compatibility: Netgear HDMI switches are usually compatible with a wide range of HDMI devices, including gaming consoles, DVD players, set-top boxes, and more. They support standard HDMI features, including 4K Ultra HD resolution, HDR (High Dynamic Range), and HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection).

  3. Remote Control: Many Netgear HDMI switches come with a remote control, allowing you to switch between connected devices easily. This convenience is particularly useful if your HDMI switch is located away from your TV.

  4. Auto-Switching: Some Netgear HDMI switches offer auto-switching functionality. This means that the switch can automatically detect which HDMI device is active and switch to that source. It simplifies the process of changing inputs when you power on or off your devices.

  5. Compact Design: Netgear HDMI switches are often designed to be compact and easy to install. They are typically plug-and-play devices that require minimal setup.

  6. Audio Support: Netgear HDMI switches usually support both video and audio signals. They can transmit audio formats such as Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, providing a complete home theater experience.

  7. Power Options: HDMI switches from Netgear may be powered via a USB connection, AC adapter, or through Power over HDMI (PoH) if your TV supports it.

  8. Reliability: Netgear is known for producing reliable networking and electronics products, which extends to their HDMI switches. They are designed to provide a stable and seamless switching experience.

When choosing a Netgear HDMI switch, consider the number of HDMI sources you want to connect, the resolution and features you require, and whether you need additional features like remote control or auto-switching. It's also important to check for the latest models and features on the official Netgear website or through authorized retailers to ensure you get the best device for your home entertainment setup.

User questions & answers

Question: Can the interface be accessed through web browser like one would access a router by typing in the IP address, or is the Insight subscription required
Answer: If you are trying to use fiber cable(s) these are what worked for me: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001B1DV0S/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00T5XFW06/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 For ethernet connection I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01HDABIZU/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I haven't had any issues, and the price is pretty cheap compared to others.
Question: Is this switch plug and play
Answer: Switches are not designed dual redundant wan connections. That is a router function. Have a great day, George
Question: Which sfp module and cables are best for the gs728tp
Answer: Record / Play - Choose between recording onto the USB / SD Card or playing from it U can also check below information about this product
Question: Can this switch be used for dual redundant wan connections
Answer: This thing doesn't even playback smoothly at high bit rates! If you want my opinion find another device. I HATE mine and regret ever buying it. Haven't used it for more than an hour after I found I could not even play back high bit rate MP3 files without skipping and lockup. This thing is total junk, you would be better off with a $20 portable player/recorder from a department store. Bill Rau

User questions & answers

Question: I am using cat 8 cables. Will this product work? If not what other switch do i need
Answer: I think it sounds most like an MI Audio crunch distortion, which it is supposedly a clone of. The Crunch Distortion is supposedly based on the Rat. I've never played a rat, so I don't want to make the comparison. I will say for like $30 the joyo sounds really good, and after about six months of playing its had no issues. hope I helped a little
Question: Should this connect to arris tg1672g without any configuration on either side? the arris combines "..a 4-port gigabit router.." not working for me
Answer: Mono output , and why wud u use headphones???
Question: Do i have to have 1gig internet speed to have this or no
Answer: Yes, i have used it for bassPretty cool, very agressive ...noisyBut if you dig that for bass it will work.If you're into gutter punk its perfect
Question: how to get plug and play to work? 14 ports not putting out IP, have modem and wifi router connected, but cant get other ports to work
Answer: Go for it. My son uses one with a small Crate ss practice amp, and it sounds phenomenal. He has to keep the volume on the pedal very low though - set above 9 o'clock it was not pleasant. Set around 8 o'clock sounded great. I tried it through a JC-120 and I thought it sounded as good as my George Dennis Wizard Rock, which is normally my favorite distortion pedal for JC. But again, finding the sweet spot in the pedal's output level was important.

User questions & answers

Question: Is one of the 5 ports used to connect to the router, so that only 4 are available for other device use? Thanks
Answer: Hi TomKM. You are correct - 1 port is used to connect to the router leaving 4 available for other devices. The GS108 offers 8 ports & is just a tad larger than its little brother if you needed a few more ports.
Question: What is the difference between unmanaged and unmanaged
Answer: On Netgear's website, they offer the following features of an Unmanaged Plus switch:-Network monitoring-Gigabit speed-VLAN support for traffic segmentation-Auto "denial-of-service" (DoS) prevention-Troubleshoot connection issues via cable test-Quality of Service (QoS) for traffic prioritization-Loop prevention and broadcast storm controls-IGMP snooping v1, v2 and v3 support for multicast optimization-Rate limiting for better bandwidth allocation-Port mirroring for network monitoring-Jumbo frame support
Question: can I run a line from my router to the switch, then from switch to receiver, blue ray, xbox 360 and Xbox1? will xboxs run ok? dont need both on togthr
Answer: Yes Bertt, you can, and you definitely should, run a twisted-pair ethernet cable from your router to the switch. After you connect the router to the switch, you can run twisted-pair cables to any device that has an RJ45 ethernet port. You've probably maxed out on your router's RJ45 ports, and so adding a switch will greatly expand your capacity to distribute hard-wired internet access to every device in your house that has an RJ45 ethernet port. May I suggest that you buy a switch with as many RJ45 ports as you can afford. The more RJ45 ports your switch has, the more devices (computers, TVs, A/V receivers, DVD and Blu-Ray players, Xbos etc.) you can connect to it for fast, reliable, secure internet access. You won't be sorry that you buy a switch with extra ports. You may not need them now, but eventually you'll probably acquire other devices that have RJ45 ports. It you don't have your house already wired for ethernet distribution, your biggest challenge will be finding wiring paths to every location where you have a computer, TV etc. One last topic: how well you device operate after you've made all of the cable connections through the router to the switch will depend more on the speed of your router and on the speed of your Internet service. Switches are very fast, so they're not likely to be the bottlenneck in a slow Internet connection. Best wishes. JKL
Question: Althought the spec states cat5, does this GS116 also support cat
Answer: Yes this devise will support Cat5, Cat5e, Cat6. Not that Cat5 does not support gigabit speed and is mostly found in older or systems not utilizing gigabit speeds. All systems i have worked on in the last 10 years are Cat5e or Cat6.

User questions & answers

Question: Can this switch be configured with multiple port mirroring destination ports? i.e. mirror port 1 to port 3 and port 4 simultaneously
Answer: the output is 9VDC and only for 9V
Question: Is GS308T for poe (pd)? which port support
Answer: Hi Amazon Customer, Thank you for reaching out to us. Yes, the Lucid 3 Inch Bamboo Charcoal Memory Foam Mattress Topper is CertiPUR-US Certified. You can view this certification details on our website if you cannot find it on the listing. If you have any other questions, please contact us. Thanks, Linenspa
Question: Is this switch 802.3ad lacp compatible? it's a requirement for port trunking on a qnap nas
Answer: It saved my back. My mattress is too firm, and I thought I was just getting old because my back muscles were knotting up and the lower back muscles were being torn, making me take days off from work to heal up. My knees also have a tendency to hyper-extend, but it never dawned on me that my mattress was making everything worse. It eases all pressure points and I stopped having problems with my body. I had even blamed my new car for having bad seats because my back hurt while driving. It was all due to the bad night sleep. I never liked my friend's Mem-foam mattress because it was too thick; I sank in and couldn't turn over. The 3" topper is perfect for me. I'm getting one for my sister.
Question: Do you need cloud management subscription for this switch
Answer: I can't tell you how long it lasts, because I've only had it on my bed a couple of days. But, you do sink into it when you get into bed, but it bounces right back. I don't sleep very well, normally no more than 2 hours at a time. Last night I slept for almost 5 hours! It is extremely comfortable and I am so glad I got it!

User questions & answers

Question: v? or 220v? Auto-volt
Answer: If bought in USA 110v
Question: Does this support 10gbe
Answer: No it is just a gigabit switch, 1 gps. Also, there are no uplink ports on this switch, some switches (mostly managed high end) have uplink ports that will do 10gbe.
Question: If i have true poe cameras, do i still need a poe injector, or will this switch allow me to connect 4 camera feeds to one output to the nvr receiver
Answer: Provided your cameras adhere to the 48V POE standard adopted by cisco, polycom, yealink, grandstream and others, then all is fine - but some consumer targeted devices cheat and use 12V power injectors with their own creative pseudo-POE putting 12V wall warts wired onto pairs of the Ethernet cable with their own (cheap) "power injectors" which are not compatible with the Ieee POE definition. I have yet to find a POE inserter that used 48V and was not compliant, so usually the voltage of the wall wart that ships with the product will guide you down the right path.
Question: Will this switch do 24v passive? The description is insanely vague
Answer: No. This provides 802.3af and 802.3at. The common 24v PoE used in this arena is a non-standard form favored by Mikrotik and Ubiquiti. For that, you are looking for an Ubiquiti EdgeSwitch/ToughSwitch. There may be others. It is safe to say that if a device supports 24v Passive PoE it will say so. 24v Passive is not a standard but is very common in WISP equipment. Devices which only say they support 'PoE' are indicating that they support 802.3af.

Companies are putting more network traffic and applications such as VoIP phones and IP cameras on their Ethernet infrastructure. It needs the network intelligence to separate the voice and video traffic from data, and prioritize them accordingly. However, companies do not necessarily have more money or advanced training to deal with complex managed switches. NETGEAR ProSAFE® Plus Switches meet this growing need by providing fundamental network features that will help optimize the performance of business networks. On top of the plug-N-play Gigabit Ethernet connectivity, these switches also offer essential networking features such as VLAN, QoS, IGMP Snooping, Link Aggregation (LAG), rate limiting and traffic monitoring. NETGEAR ProSAFE® Plus Switches are an exceptional value for businesses looking to add intelligence to their network beyond what unmanaged switches can provide.Prioritize Voice/VideoWith the ability to set up and configure QoS, these Gigabit Plus Switches can detect different types of network traffic and assign the desired priority to latency-sensitive traffic, such as voice and video. This helps improve the delivery quality of related applications such as VoIP, multimedia broadcasting, and video conferencing.Build Multiple Network GroupsThese Gigabit Plus Switches can help divide big networks into smaller more manageable groups and have resources dedicated for one or several groups rather than making the same resources open to all. User questions & answers

Question: Does this have 802.1q vlan manageability with tagging, etc
Answer: Yes, can easily just unbox it, plug it in and use it as POE Gigabit switch. It will require a DHCP running in your house since it does require an IP address in case you want to use the web based management. Your router is most likely a DHCP server.

User questions & answers

Question: Does this come with rack ears? They are not pictured
Answer: Any POE port can be used for regular non-POE Ethernet connections. Power is ONLY provided if the device negotiates for it.
Question: Does it matter which port I put in the ethernet cord providing the internet
Answer: That's exactly what I've done to expand my home network behind the router's firewall. Taking one router ethernet port to this device and then adding up to 4 devices. Keep in mind if you are using this for backup or other high bandwith local transfer type situations, you may find the limit of a non-gigbit port. I would expect most people will not push that kind of bandwidth though in regular use.
Question: Can non POE devices be plugged to the POE ports, is there a way to turn of POE
Answer: My experience is that it works well
Question: My wireless router wired ports are all used up. Will this switch allow me to expand the number of ports while keeping my wireless router going
Answer: Good day! Yes, you may access the admin interface through the web browser using the switch's IP address. Insight subscription is not required to access it.

User questions & answers

Question: My family has two appartments next to each other, both separate electrical installations. Would this work if we wanted to split the internet bill
Answer: Yes the EX8000 used as a wifi extender you have the option of having a guest network. You can use same SSID name as your main router or use a different SSID altogether. I did have issues with more than one extender on the same network using same SSID name as main router so I had to change one of the extenders to a different SSID.
Question: Has anyone connected a ps4 of xbox one to the wifi from the range extender? if so, signal and game play any good
Answer: If you mean an AT&T router signal, yes. If you mean cell tower signal, then no.
Question: Does it create a new sid or does it exteneded your current sid, so one does not have to switch to differing networks when in range
Answer: the input voltage is from 100 to 240 volts
Question: I don't understand how some people give this 4-5 stars and others can't get it to work and give it 1 star
Answer: there are 4 ports. I use multiple ones as this is the only system I can find that does not change the network name but once a year I also have one break and have to replace it or hard reset it myself.

User questions & answers

Question: Can you control the poe per port? or is it automatic
Answer: You can both manually enable/disable power and do it with a timer through the web interface.
Question: Does this unit come with the rackmount ears
Answer: Hey KenI own EliteSmartHome.com and am familiar with Poe. Standard Poe allows for 15.4 watts per port. Poe plus (which this switch does not seem to be) allows for 25.5 watts per port. Also mind the overall amperage that a switch is rated for. Good rule of thumb is to only use 80% of what a switch is rated for. I hope this helps!
Question: can you cycle the PoE power

Question: What's the PoE wattage per port
Answer: Almost - it has 48 rj45 ports, all have PoE - the first 8 are high powered, but higher-power is probably not what you want this for unless you only have a couple devices, the total power for all ports is 380Watts.The "uplink" ports are SFP slots, not usable unless you get SFP Gbics (fiber) (or copper modules if you really want that) - they are NOT SFP+. so limited to 1Gbps per SFP.

User questions & answers

Question: will this support an internet connection at 1000 mbps to multiple devices
Answer: No you have to buy any cable you may need
Question: Can it be mounted on a wall, does it have mount holes on the bottom
Answer: No. The Cudy device is a Layer-2 switch. To share internet between two computers, you need a Router, which is a Layer-3 device.
Question: what is the difference between NETGEAR 5-Port FS205 - NETGEAR GS105 ProSafe 5port- 10/100/1000 Mbps? thanks
Answer: It runs off a DC 5V 0.5A power supply with a barrel connector. It may be possible to solder a USB plug instead of the power brick and power it, it should work, but I haven't tried it.
Question: What's the difference in performance between NETGEAR 5-Port FS205 versus NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit GS205? One is 5 Port 10/100Mbps vs Gigabit. Meaning
Answer: With an Ethernet switch, you use 1 port as the input and it will output to the other ports (in this case 4 ports) which can be used simultaneously.
