The rucksack isn't that impressive at first glance but once you start putting stuff in there you find you have a remarkable amount of room. I'm maybe using up 1/3 the volume with a large 3 ring binder, 1 large textbook sized hardcover, 3 smaller paperback books, 3 spiral ring notebooks, and a small pack of emergency toiletries. The side packs, are perfect for medium sized thick walled 16 oz thermos with the screw caps, and the small central pouch is maybe 8x6 inches with maybe 1.5-2 inches of depth. The main rucksack is taller then it looks and that's where most your volume comes from. You're probably looking at 2-2.5 times more total volume than your standard issue jansport.

Answer:	No. and it would have to be a small laptop. I use this as a construction job briefcase. Lots of pockets and you could fit an iPad easily if it had a good case. I have a military grade case for rough conditions. It's a great pack and it would fit a laptop but there might not be much room for anything else in main pack. I can fit my iPad. iPhone. iPod. Charging cords, etc. Wallet and checkbook. Invoice book and writing tablets. Pens. And a good bit of odds and ends in main pack. As well as the necessary flashlight and Swiss Army knife for those Mcguiver moments. Great pack but if you want something for a laptop it might not meet your needs

Question:	What are the dimensions for both side pockets and the big front pocket
Answer:	I have the std. version. While it is adequate for most of my purposes, I find the outside pockets to be less accommodating than I'd like. You can get a laptop in the main compartment of this, but, it constricts how much else it can then hold. If I had it to do over, I'd get the larger one as it probably could handle more in the outer pockets and at least leave it usable for other things if you wanted to carry a laptop in it as well.
Question:	I've just received the canvas bag, and there are some abrasion on the inner face of the leather. Is this normal for this bag
Answer:	The 'B' size will fit the needs of binders much better than the 'A' will. It's just enough larger to be more usable for more items, and that was my reason for chosing it. The 'A' size is definitely too small for most uses. Other than that, it's a really great backpack, that has been useful, and the envy of many who have seen it.
Question:	Is the size difference between the standard version of this backpack and the "large" version of this backpack notable
Answer:	I don't know the exact dimensions, but a 15" laptop fits well.
Question:	So I got the A size of the bag and its a little bit to small for all my binders i use for class. How much bigger is the larger size of this bag
Answer:	I have used Ko Cao Line Leather Dressing for years. It's made for equestrian equipment. Or, if you can't find that, use Mink Oil or Lexol. To clean the leather use Saddle Soap. Basically, keep your leather oiled and soft, and treating it regularly will give you a long life for your leather things. Any leather product "gains character with age". Like blue jeans, they look better as they wear. Just keep it oiled and use saddle soap and apply one of the above conditioners liberally afterward. Remember, saddle soap cleans, it does not condition. On my boots I use Bear Grease. That stuff is serious. But for your backpack, mink oil will do just fine.

Answer:	I received the camo model and the tag read made in China. Although I often shy away from backpacks made in China this one surprised me on the quality question. I found the backpack well made, the canvas and leather had no defects of any kind, i.e. the stitching was perfect and in stress points were reinforced stitching and the leather stress points were well done. No evidence of fraying as well. The buckles were brass color-wise and well anchored to the canvas fabric which I think is 22 ounce. I used it for day hikes as it is only a 22 liter capacity. The usual load out included two 700ml water bottles, a 5X7 tarp or military poncho, a lightweight hammock, a small butane stove with canister, a stainless steel cup with a stainless steel cover (I often make coffee or tea on my hikes.) and a food container; plus some fruit. Average weight was around 12 pounds. What I love about the pack is the vintage look as I'm into bushcraft camping. I received several compliments on the trail and questions like, "Where did you get your backpack?" Now mine has the blue/white striped cloth lining and I believe the one pictured has a pink lining. If you are male and pink is not your color be aware that the lining color is evident in spots even when the pack is secured with the straps.

Answer:	Not something I would do. Maybe a spray and cloth to spot clean. It's a waxed canvas leather backpack, I use mine everyday and has been carried on 6 flights this year and most of the time ended up under the seat, and still looks good. if concerned about it getting dirty, the darker might be a better selection for you.

Answer:	It would fit, I carried my 12” laptop but because it is not too big there isn’t much space if you want to carry more items in there. For example, I would have my 1”binder, and 3 botebooks, but there wasnt any more space for my textbook. It all depends on what you may put in it.

Answer:	The compartment does not offer much padding save for the layers of thick material. If you were to drop the pack, the laptop would would feel the hit.

Answer:	Yes. I typically put small "Niagara" bottles (16.9 oz) of water in the side pockets and it snaps shut just fine, but I have a travel mug that holds the same amount and although it fits, it does not snap shut.
