Answer: Why do people comment if they don't want to offer an answer? First, fill the reservoir with water to the fullest level. The rule of thumb for White Rice regardless of how it's cooked, is 1 Cup uncooked White Rice to 2 Cups cold Water. Always use double the amount of water as you do rice. When it's cooked, you'll end up with approx. 2 Cups of White Rice using this equation. Put rice and water into the included Plastic basket, & set the timer according to directions. If you don't have directions for some reason, I'd look online for a replacement booklet, or use the info on the bag of rice as a guideline., My steamer takes approx 20 mins. for 1 Cup uncooked rice, it's an older version of this unit. Timing can vary for many reasons. I would check the cooking process often, and turn unit off when rice is rice is fluffy with a fork. Rice, as well as veggies will continue to cook even after the timer stops unless you remove the food from the unit. If you're fussy about overcooking, make sure you stay close by. I did have to practice with rice a couple of times before getting it just right. Once you get the timing of your favorite foods down, you'll never want to be without a steamer, and the process becomes second nature. Good luck!

Answer: The Thunderbolt connections operate with the Thunderbolt Networking technology. This means you're using a network connection, and the connection behaves in the same fashion. Thus, you need to configure the network interfaces on both ends (the NAS and the connected computer) to speak on the same network subnet. While this is a 20 Gbps (bi-directional) Thunderbolt 3 connection, you are limited by the speed of the drives on the NAS as well as the operating system of the connected device. That said, I can actively work with the content on the NAS as if it were a connected external drive (rather than a network connection) because of the throughput. It sounds complicated, but, once you set it up, it's done. QNAP has plenty of documentation to take you through the setup process step-by-step.
