Answer:	Linda, Apple has released multiple models MacBook mid-2009 computers that based on legacy Serial-ATA (SATA) data storage interface by today's standards. Kingston SATA-3 standard A400 SSD is backward compatible with older technology and works well in the older MacBook. SA400S37/120G will work fine in the older Toshiba Satellite, although not performing up to the advertised SSD speeds due to host system limitations, nonetheless A400 will outperform original hard disk drive to help enhance the system overall performance. A400 should physically fit the notebook internal drive bay using existing mounting hardware. PC will automatically detect the new SSD upon power up. Answer:	I have two of these and am about to get a third. No, you don't need to download anything (at least on windows and linux computers). I reformat mine to NTFS because I switch between OS's. One thing to note the usb "A" adapter is "notched" and will only fit on one way completely, you probably got a bad one, it happens, send it back if no luck.

Answer:	Basically, my home setup is an all-Mac setup. What I did immediately after I got it out of the box was to format it and partition it 200 GB HFS+ and 800 GB APFS. The HFS+ partition is used for Time Machine, and the APFS partition has four volumes (capacity is allocated dynamically between volumes within the APFS partition). How I would use this in a mixed environment: one HFS+ partition for Time Machine (you can't use APFS partitions for Time Machine); one APFS partition for the files that will be used only with a Mac; and one ExFAT partition for instances where you need to be able to access the file in Windows and on a Mac. Also, make sure you keep that USB-C to USB-A connector that comes with the drive; it comes with about a 6-inch cable with USB-C connectors at both ends.

I have 2 that I use for this, be aware you may have to change your system setup to use, On mine I have to change SATA controller mode to AHCI from RAID and UEFI to Legacy support and boot priority to Legacy first (Lenovo). Once you have those setting fixed you will be amazed how fast it will run. I run fedora on a 1TB for storage and Fedora Securrity Spin on a 500 GB drive to use to recover data and fix customers machines. I have also run CentOS and Linux Mint with no issues.

You might need to Google how to use an external drive, but the read/write speeds on this are exceptional (1GB/s), and the USB-C to USB-C cable it comes with is top-notch (as is the USB-C to USB-A cable). Obviously, you're going to want to be vary careful not to move the cables when in-use.

Answer:	Yes, you should be able to use this as an external drive for the PS5 and get full speed on it as long as you plug it into one of the USB 3.2 ports. However, you will still not be able to play PS5 games off of it. You can play PS4 games off of it with improved load times. Per Daniel Bastian's answer regarding the Xbox Series X. You can use the T7 on Series X, but you will not get the full speed. Series X uses USB 3.1 gen 1 ports, which are slower than this SSD. For Series X, you would be better off buying the T5 SSD.

Answer:	Reformatting this external SSD will not do anything to its cache. In any case, the cache is used only during read/write operations, you can’t directly address it as a user and don’t have to think about it at all. You can reformat in APFS for best Mac performance or use any other scheme you need, including multiple partitions each formatted differently.

Answer:	You would have to read/write over 300 terabytes, yes TERABYTES, for the ssd to fail. Unless of course you get a bad drive from the start.

Answer:	If your computer has a free 2.5" hard drive bay and can accept SATA II or greater hard drives this should work.

Answer:	With the SSD you do get a free OEM version of Acronis True Image(available for Windows only, for Mac you can use Time Machine) to clone the SSD with. You would need to have means of connecting the SSD or hard drive to the laptop such as a SATA to USB adapter or USB SATA dock. The best method would be to Download and install Acronis. Once Acronis is installed and activated, get a USB flash drive(at least 2GB in capacity) and use that to create a rescue media drive (instructions on how to do that can be found here, https://kb.acronis.com/content/60820 ). Once the rescue media drive is created, install the new SSD into the laptop and have the original drive connected externally then boot the laptop from the rescue media drive and the clone process will start.

Question:	Clone software available or not? desc "ssd dashboard and cloning software download (4) " would like to clone my c drive to it
Answer:	The Acronis WD Edition (a special eidtioin of Acronis Backup) did not work for me as it did not see the SanDisk drive on the USB dongle. I ended up using the full version of EaseUS Todo Backup but the free version of it would do the job as well. Both are Windows solutions but with Todo Backup you should be able to create the bootable CD/DVD on a WIndows machine then use it on anything else that will let you boot. Clonezilla is a Linux based solution that I've also used before but it's not as intuitive. You burn an ISO image to a CD/DVD or a USB stick (different version for the latter) and boot to it and follow the instructions. You create a bootable CD or DVD with Todo Backup after the Windows installation and boot to it (you may need to change your boot options in BIOS to be able to do that) with the SanDisk plugged into the USB. Choose the source drives (there's a small partition ahead of the drive C partition that you need to check), and any other partitions you created, then continue and choose the destination drive, the SanDisk. Choose "optimize for SSD" and then proceed and wait a long time (a few hours). The remaining time left indicator, like it is with many of these backup programs, will tel yo there's only 5 or 10 minutes left in the copy operation when it will take a few hours. I left mine go overnight and it was finished in the morning but in my experience, it would have taken only a few hours (I just didn't check until morning). You can continue to use the Todo Backup CD/DVD you created to back up your PC/laptop to an external hard drive for regular backup. Answer:	I have MANY SSD's in MANY older laptops and in MANY 2.5" USB drive cases, and have never had to worry about a SATA cable. For laptops and such USB cases, you just slide the drive as is, into the SATA interface pins -- it only will go one way, and you're done. If you're going to install this 2.5" form factor drive into a desktop or tower machine, you should get a kit to do so. It should come with proper adapters and the needed SATA cable for THAT specific application. I have never, ever, seen such a drive come with a SATA cable, as in the vast majority of cases, it simply isn't needed. My laptops span the 2008 to 2014 manufactured date range.

Answer:	You should be able to access it thru the files app on an iPad or an iPhone as long as you have the correct cable. My iPad Pro will work great with it.

Answer:	No - correct dimensions are 4.345" x 2.254" x 0.45" (just measured with my calipers) No clue how anyone could come up with 1.68 inches high. It's pretty small and faster than anything I've ever used.

Answer:	Yes; you can think of 500GB as the drive's capacity (although the operation system will use up a tiny fraction of that total). You can use is just like any other hard drive. The only real difference is that it has no moving parts and the transfer rate is FAST!

Answer:	No; nothing is forever. Solid state disks have a maximum number of writes, referred to as TBW (terrabytes written) which are typically 65 to 150 TBW. SanDisk estimates about 65-80 TBW depending on device. Putting this in perspective, TBW stands for Terabytes Written. It can also be referred to as “endurance”. It is a metric indicated by hardware manufactures to state how many terabytes could be written to the solid state disk (SSD) during it’s lifetime. The TBW metric is an important one to look out for when buying an SSD as it indicates how long a drive can be operational and useful before needing to replace it with a new one. For example, if your drive has a capacity of 100 GB's, and the drive was rated at 100 TBW, then this means that the drive can be fully rewritten 1024 times! (1 Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes). Reading is forever, but writing is the limit... Solution: plan to replace the SSD when you approach the capacity metric for TBW... use the "old" drive as a read only archive. I used to do this for databases - put the data which is static on the SSD's for fast access and the dynamic data on the hard drives. The TBW rates are constantly improving and someday may be infinite, but we're definitely not at that point.

Answer:	The recommendation of Ghost as a cloning program is terrible. The consumer version of Norton Ghost was discontinued sometime back in 2013-2014. It was designed specifically for Windows 7 and is thus obsolete for today's hardware and software requirements. It's replacement, Symantec Ghost, was designed primarily for enterprise use. so unless you're working in an IT department environment, it's probably the worst choice for the home consumer who simply wants to upgrade their personal PC or laptop to a faster M.2 NVMW drive. There are plenty of free cloning software applications out there: AOMEI, Macrium, Clonezilla, and others. Go on the web, look up "free cloning software", read the reviews. I personally would go to the WD support website and take a look at their user forum. There are plenty of users there who have had hands on experience cloning to their WD M.2 NVMW devices; they provide detail as to what software works and what doesn't work for cloning.

Answer:	I would do a clean format of it on the imac first, you can choose exFAT (it will work on both PC and mac) or you can choose Mac OS Extended (HFS+) which is more stable than exFAT, but you will need software on your PC to read/write to the drive. If the PC is your main machine I would just choose exFAT.

On the upside, it is still fully compatible with USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 and while the transfer rate you’ll experience will be lower than if you had a computer with Gen 2 USB, it really isn’t that much slower in actual use. If you’re moving from any spinning platter drive to an SSD regardless of the interface you were using with the platter drive, you will see a HUGE performance improvement using this external SSD drive.

Answer:	You said that this SSD is used on a desktop PC. So you can connect both the original hard drive and the SSD using SATA cables. Or you can mount one with SATA cable and the other one with USB to SATA adapter. It doesn't matter which hard drive is connected with which. As long as your cloning software recognizes both drives. Just make sure that the USB to SATA adapter and the USB port you connect to are both USB 3.0. The speed is much faster with USB 3 ports and adapter. Hope this helps.

This "vintage" ol'girl with 16GB of RAM (that's right sixteen GB) now screams along. I think that I have a couple more years of useful life in it. This is a good price for the Samsung PRO model, it will likely come down in price, like most electronics.

Keep in mind that these are max Sequential speeds, random read/writes and average read/writes are going to be slower. The random and average read/write speeds is where you will see the biggest difference in performance. After taking a second look at the specks of both, if you aren't rendering 4k video or something like that I would save money and get the EVO.

Question:	Is the 2tb (st2000dm008) internal hard drive cmr or smr
Answer:	The 2TB, 4TB, and 8TB drives are all SMR, which means they are slow for random writes and not suitable as boot drives. (Google "Why SMR drives are sub-optimal for write-intensive workloads".)
Question:	Is this really 7200rpm? the model number suggests otherwise
Answer:	I got the ST4000DM004 which claims 7200 rpm on amazon and my computer is reporting it has a media rotation rate of 5425 rpm
Question:	Is a sata cable included in the package
Answer:	Cables not included. You can buy a SATA data cable and likely the appropriate power cable for your computer right here on Amazon. Depending on your power supply, the power cable may already be connected to it in your computer -- some have that and some do not.
Question:	Is this 7200 or 5400rpm
Answer:	Only the 1 TB (#ST1000DM010) and 2 TB (#ST2000DM008) models are 7200, all the larger models are 5400. Both the llisted speed and model number change in the product description as you pick different disk size options. This is consistent with Seagate's website -- From the home page, drill down through (or search for) Internal / Hard Drives / BarraCuda - Learn More, and then click the 3.5 inch models tab (NOT the 3.5 inch PRO models tab). Then click on the data sheet next to any model to get a PDF with a table containing all of the models along with their drive speeds and other specs..
