Enterprise class, 7200 RPM, 2TB drive for high-capacity nearline environments, Heavy Duty Enhancing data safety and security To ensure the utmost in data safety and security, the Ultrastar A7K3000 is also available with a bulk data encryption (BDE) option. When enabled, the Hitachi BDE implementation encrypts all data on the drive using a private security key as it is written to the disk, and then decrypts it with the key as it is retrieved, giving users an extreme level of data protection. Unlike softwarebased encryption solutions, the Hitachi BDE implementation is hardware-based, so it doesn’t slow the system down. This technology also speeds up and simplifies the drive re-deployment and decommissioning process. By deleting the encryption key, the data is rendered unreadable, thereby eliminating the need for time-consuming, multi-pattern data overwrite. Delivering industry-leading reliability
With a robust fourth-generation mechanical design, Ultrastar A7K3000 is specifically built and tested for the enterprise. The Ultrastar SATA drive family features Hitachi-patented Rotational Vibration Safeguard (RVS) sensor technology, which optimizes drive reliability in multi-drive RAID arrays and rack-mounted systems. Backed by a one-year warranty, the Ultrastar platform has earned Hitachi a reputation among server and storage vendors as a global partner dedicated to delivering the highest quality and reliability in the industry.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this hard drive record on a cctv recorder |
Answer: | I ordered from the same company and I had no problems. If anything you can cancel order and see about ordering from someone else. |
Question: | How do i install this into my 3.5 inch drive bays? do i just screw it in, or do i need a dock of some kind |
Answer: | YEAH? It connects via SATA 6Gb and also the power cord from PSU |
Question: | How loud is the drive? is it still that loud inside a computer when writing to the disk or is it tolerable |
Answer: | They did, but you'll have to put the cards in the sleeves. |
Question: | Can i install any Windows i want |
Answer: | Yes you can!! One unit is the "mother" and the others are the children. The concept of a mesh system is to allow the addition of child nodes to cover the area you need. I run 4 in my house. I am planning to do the hardwire connection between nodes when an electrician is available to do it. It runs well without that now but the highest data transfer rates are obtained with hardwire connection between the nodes. |

User questions & answers
Question: | what is the warranty on this and is an extended warranty available |
Answer: | You can use 2TB drives on Windows 2000, XP or higher when formatted with NTFS. Windows 2000, XP, XP x64 (Server 2003), and Vista cannot handle drives larger than 2TB. Windows 98se will not work with anything larger than 1TB. Win98se must use Maxtor's Large Drive Enabler software to format and put the OS on drives up to 1TB. Wasn't sure which version of Windows you wanted, so I covered all the bases here. Just do a Google search on maximum Windows drive size, you'll find all kinds of data. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is a sata iii backwards compatible to a sata ii |
Answer: | I don't know if there is a warranty. Never checked myself, but I can tell you that these are good drives. I have two of the 2TB drives, and 1 3TB drive :3 |
Question: | is this hdd better than the western digital black hdd |
Answer: | This hard drive should be compatible, however you should consult the cctv manufacturer to confirm compatibility. |
Question: | comes in a box or in this bag |
Answer: | you just need to screw it on your 3.5" HDD Bay |
Question: | I thought Enterprise Grade drives had a 5 year warranty. Why does it appear that this one has only 1 year warranty |
Answer: | It depends on how much "stress" your putting on the drive. I bought it as a secondary drive for music, pictures,ECT. It's not a bad drive for the price but I wouldn't purchase another one. Save your self the trouble of and get a new drive like this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00SQ652ZS/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487816431&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=TOSHIBA+MG03ACA200+2TB+7200+RPM+64MB+Cache+SATA+6.0Gb%2Fs+3.5%22+Enterprise+Hard+Drive+Bare+Drive&dpPl=1&dpID=41794En4EnL&ref=plSrchIt isn't loud all the time but when it is. Headphones won't even help you. Also I moved all my files off this drive because it started to tick really loud..Not a good sign. |

Answer: | 1. this is enterprise grade and certified for long life and endurance.2. I own WD black and didnt have issues with.3. All the reviews and others experience narrow down to: YES4. Dont expect a Buick, this is an Range Rover. |
Question: | Could this replace my ps4's internal drive |
Answer: | It was in a bag and then it was in a box with styrofoam peanuts. |
Question: | What size screws are required for the four holes on the bottom of the drive? I need to secure the drive and the screws were not included |
Answer: | These are OEM drives. The vendor who sells the drives in their storage array gets enough of a warranty plus the time that the drive can sit on the shelf to cover at least one year. The drives are new. The confusion comes about the drives being "Enterprise" & OEM. Enterprise drives have a duty cycle around 40%. Most consumer drives have a duty cycle of 10-15%. Duty cycle meaning that the drive is being accessed that much of the time. The disk mechanism is a heaver duty than consumer models. This also tells you why they tend to be noisier since they can handle a larger access load and sit in a data center. Once over the initial burn in I expect the drives to last the normal HSGT lifespan of 5-7 years or until upgraded. Seagate offers the same type of warranty to their OEM's ( Dell, HP etc )vendors so the warranty is a reflection of the price negotiation. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i use this on a mediasonic proraid usb 3.0 2 bay 3.5 inch sata hard drive enclosure |
Answer: | Yes. Hitachi's hard drive division was called Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. So when Western Digital bought Hitachi's hard drive division from Hitachi, they changed the name to HGST for trademark reasons. Otherwise, they should be the same. |
Question: | Is this in fact a 7200 rpm drive |
Answer: | It will fit but the question is what OS are you using? Windows XP then no unless you divide the hard drive up into smaller drives. If your processor will not handle Windows 7 or 10 then you may be out of luck. |
Question: | What is the warranty? It says minimum 90 days. Is it a one year warranty |
Answer: | Doubtful. Internal PS3/4 drives are a 2.5" SATA drive, this is a 3.5". The proprietary OS is a non issue as you can just clone the existing drive to a new drive. I've swapped a 20GB XBOX 360 drive for a 320GB by cloning and a 40GB PS3 with a 200GB drive using the same process with no issues whatsoever. |
Question: | can this drive operate on sata |
Answer: | Wiki states #6-32UNC screws are frequently used to secure 3.5 inch HDD to the case. It does not matter if the 3.5 inch drive is IDE or SATA - which is what the Hitachi is. Amazon sells "StarTech Round Head Replacement 6-32 Hard Drive Mounting Screws ". Check the computer case where you are mounting the drive. Computer cases frequently include mounting hardware including screws to mount hard drive. Your computer case might even be toolless design, in which case you would not need screws - just the brackets, included with the case, to secure the drive.. |
