The first time you plug it in though for maybe 35 seconds it will install drivers so that you can use it but after that for consecutive uses it will take your computer maybe 20-25 seconds to recognize the external hard drive depending on how powerful your computer is I guess.

Answer:	As long as you do not format the drive many times and delete files a bunch of time. Also the RPM use of the disk will deteriorate the platter so when your done putting files to store disconnect the drive and put it away..Hard drives are rated for life span by RPM use. so format the drive once if you need to then copy all your files you wish to store and disconnect and store the drive..I hope this helps.

Answer:	Standard computer specs. A USB 3.0 drive is backwards compatible with a USB 2.0 port, but you must use the USB 3.0 rated cable.

Answer:	The primary difference between the two is that the a80 is a little more durable in design and the ability to take abuse. The Military 810F rating indicates greater durability under harsher conditions vs. the 810G. This refers to testing against extreme pressures, temperatures, humidity, collision, etc. Additionally, the a80 is touted as "waterproof". If you work in rainy climates or near water, the waterproof option may work better for you. Aside from that, both hard drives offer the same capacity and USB 3.0/2.0 standards. and the same, simple USB to USB connecting cable, which doubles well as a transfer cable for migrating information between PC's. Question:	How many RPM
Answer:	I’ve done this with about 30+ 2tb, 4tb, and 8tb drives over the years- converting an external to an internal- and they are all still running fine to this day. Usually $30-40 cheaper than the internal and you get a free usb cable to boot. Just make sure you don’t hurt your hands while doing it. Twisting a flathead screw driver in the seams seemed like the way to go if I recall. They don’t make the cases easy to open. For someone below: Don’t use these for RAID. NAS rated drives are different because they handle higher heat, able to run 24/7 with cross checks, etc. read more about what makes the iron version a NAS approved drive compared to the standard barracuda.

Answer:	Just reformatted the external hard drive using Disk Utility. Works for Mac :) Im not a tech savvy person, so I found this website to be useful when selecting what option to select when erasing the hard drive. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4276140?start=0&tstart=0I chose to use Journaled as I am using this for a Time Machine back up, like Matthew Chellew suggests in the first answer.

Answer:	Like a charm, exactly what I purchased it for. Plug into any of the three ports (all 3 of the original XBox One ports are 3.0) and give it a minute. The XBox will recognize it and you have to choose for storage or media. Choose storage for games and you are up and running. Do be aware that this HDD does require its own power supply. I was transferring games within 5 minutes. FWIW within half an hour there was a power outage in the middle of a transfer and the external drive, the XBox One and the data are were ok when power came back on. If a data transfer is interrupted for any reason simply delete the failed portion on the destination drive and start the process over.

I found this particular drive to be slower that their usual black drives with the blue rubber bumper. We took a bunch of those 4TB ones to Africa with us on a shoot and they were great.

Answer:	It seems you are using the Apple Thunderbolt Adapter or similar, yes? Those will NOT work with this drive, since the port on the drive is NOT Thunderbolt 3. The interface is actually USB-C, which can be connected to/is compatible with a Thunderbolt 3 computer port, but does not work with a Thunderbolt converter since it's not an actual Thunderbolt 3 port. Any drive that says "USB-C (Thunderbolt 3-compatible)" is a USB-C drive.

Answer:	Inside this housing is a 2.5" laptop-style HDD, with a transfer rate of 135MB/s. Also, the interface is actually USB-C, which is "Thunderbolt 3-compatible" but is not Thunderbolt 3. What this means is that USB-C drives can be connected to Thunderbolt 3 ports and they work (as part of the TB3 spec). All of that said, the drive itself is the limiting factor in the transfer rate. Many manufactures like to put out the "5GB Transfer" funny business in their specs, but they are really only referring to what the port or cable is "capable" of, however the actual hard drive determines how fast it can read and write regardless of connection used. In fact, you will get the same performance out of this particular drive whether connecting to a USB 3.0, USB-C, or Thunderbolt 3 port as all are more than capable of handling the 135MB/s that the drive can put out.

Answer:	I use mine manually. It works for me like any thumb drive. I back up what I want and can keep it or transfer it to another computer. You do get the option to delete what you have copied to the iXpand drive.
Question:	compatible with time machine
Answer:	the truth is: all Apple iTunes video purchases are DRM protected. Supposedly, this is done to eradicate "Piracy" however, a very simple workaround that's quick & easy is: TunesKit M4V Converter. As of this writing (17SEP2019) it works perfectly, I use my Microsoft Surface Pro 6 to remove the DRM and then I load the movies & TV shows to SanDisk iXpand
