Answer:	I have changed batteries many times and never had to re-program the radio. Best way to find out is to change the batteries and see what happens.

Answer:	I have the m85 as well. The construction is far superior on the m80. The reception is about equal if not slightly better on the m80. If I had to buy another I would go with the model that came out right before the m80. Not sure what the model number was, but it was all yellow.
