Question: | Need to verify two items in your part description & screen shots. are metal 2 api and gray boot screen both supported? thank you |
Answer: | I think so. Actually as long as it is Mac Pro 3,1 or 4,1 or 5,1, this card will work. Please reference its second picture (see above) for compatibility in detail. As for 2560x1440 apple 27 inch cinema monitor, yes, this Quadro K5000 will be perfectly working with two of that model monitors via its dual DP ports (but you have to use 2 x DP to mini DP female adapters, I guess you should already have that). It also has dual DVI ports, if converted to HDMI (via DVI to HDMI adapters), will be able to connect to your monitor via HDMI if your monitor has HDMI input port. |
Question: | The features section says gddr3 but the photo and description say gddr5, which one is it |

Answer: | 500 Watts PSU is the minimum recommend. Yes on a normal use this is OK. |
Question: | Can I use a second monitor |
Answer: | Boot screen, yes, because it is for Mac version. Metal 2, not sure about it, but this card is officially supporting Metal API. |
Question: | how is this 500 watts recommended normal rx560 gpus only draw from pcie (75 watts max) i mean a 2070 super needs 650 watts recommended |
Answer: | GDDR5 |
Question: | Hello. i can run this card with a evga 500w bronce power sup |
Answer: | For Mojave, the answer is yes, straight forward. However, for catalina or big sur or even beyond, your mac pro 2008 or early 2009 won't be able to upgrade to, you have to install specific scripts (it's called dosdude1, here is the official link: http://dosdude1.com/catalina/), then you will be allowed to upgrade to catalina or big sur or beyond. Here is the step by step tutorial video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mytdmyZNgsM, if you search through youtube, there are a lot of similar videos on this topic. Once you have installed these scripts, then you should be upgrade to Catalina with this graphics card. Simply say, this card is not the limit, it supports Catalina or big sur without any problem. The real limitation is with your Mac Pro 2008 or Early 2009 computer, once you have installed scripts, then you are good to go. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Why is the Mac version double the price? I understand why the computer is but why this card |
Answer: | It will work on a2012 Mac Pro with MacOS up to Catalina. I haven’t tried Big Sur yet. I have two displays I connect with mini-DisplayPort cables. |
Question: | Is this mac compatable. i'm looking for the mac version of the k |
Answer: | I had a tech install this on site, but apart from an internal power connection and the usual interface there were no cables involved. The card admits the usual external connections you likely already use at the back plane. No additional cables were needed. |
Question: | Is this compactible for Dell T |
Answer: | I don't know if it will work in a 4,1 Mac Pro. I am using it successfully in a 5,1 Mac Pro. |
Question: | Is this compactible for Dell T |
Answer: | No it doesn't require a driver. I have a 2008 Mac Pro and after adding this, 16gb of mushkin ram to give my self a total of 24gb ram, solid state boot drive and a USB 3.0 card I have no reason to buy a new machine. I use it to edit raw 4K RED files in CC 2014 with no lag whatsoever. |
Question: | Will this work with a mac pro 2012, 5.1? need drivers or a dvi adapter or dual power cables, supports metal |
Answer: | I connected my card (in a Mac Pro 2008) to my Apple 27 inch LED Cinema Display with a Cable Matters DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort Adapter bought on Amazon. Cost $9. Works well. |
Question: | Do the cables that are needed, come with the graphic card? Which ones |
Answer: | It works in my Mac Pro 3,1 perfectly. So it will certainly work in a 5,1. I thought the cables were included with mine. If not, you can get on ebay cheap. I got mine for Radeon HD 6870 (PC card and yes PC cards work in it). |
Question: | Will this work in a 4,1 Mac Pro? People appear to have got it to work while manufacturers website says it won't/shouldn't |
Answer: | No. But the image will look great because its about 2.5k. 4K is 3840 pixels × 2160 . This card is 2560 x 1600 . Be careful who you buy from. A bunch of these cards are "PC" cards that have been "flashed" to work with a Mac. And many of these cards require additional hardware to get it to work with your Mac. I had one seller try to sell me one without the right wiring. Had to send it back. Also, these "flashed" cards won't display though the boot process, which can be a problem for some users. |
Question: | Does the Sapphire HD 7950 Mac edition require any driver or any other software on a 2010 MacPro |
Answer: | It works great with Mavericks on my Mac Pro 3,1 early 2008 |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is it Good for gaming |
Answer: | Sorry I can’t vouch for all 3 working at the same time because I’m only using 2. But it being an excellent graphics card, in my opinion, I’m sure that all 3 ports will function at the same time. |
Question: | What is that black metal piece on the end of it |
Answer: | For best results please use 600 Watts PSU , there is not necessary to use any additional cables or adapter , The card takes the power directly from the mother boards. This one of the most power saving card for gaming level. |
Question: | Does it support 2k or wqhd monitor |
Answer: | For this model you can even use up to 3 displays monitors. However there are other hardware requirements your computer need to comply in order to function well : 1) product compatible with your motherboard 2) Power supply of a minimum of 500 Watts 3) sufficient internal space to accommodate a double fan graphics card. 4) Dual bay for the graphics card port outlets |
Question: | monitors? do all 3 ports work at the same time |
Answer: | Because your entire systems requieres power and the graphics card will push more Watts during apps and games peaks. Underpowered hardware will crash during applications and may severe damage your other hardware components. |

Question: | Anyone using the 3d stereo bracket? this is needed when connecting e.g. 3d stereo glasses? what else is used for |
Answer: | http://www3.pny.com/NVIDIA-Quadro-K4000-font-colordc0431Newfont-P3275C365.aspxIt contains an auxiliary power cable: 2 x 4-pin peripheral to 6-pin PCIe. The card takes 6-pin PCIe, and these days your power supply should come with this type of cable. |
Question: | Will this run a 3840 x 2160 UHD monitor over displayport |
Answer: | Yes with Premier |
Question: | I got an ASUS HD 7770 graphicard, I am wondering that does K4000 support corssfire |
Answer: | The P9 X79 Deluxe is not a dual socket motherboard. It is single socket and will not work with E7 series CPUs. |
Question: | What power cable is included in the box |
Answer: | In Nvidia website they write in GPU Performance Features of quadro k5000 that it is PCI Express 2.0 Compliance it Supports data transfer rates up to 5 GT/sec per lane for an aggregate bandwidth of 16 GB/sec bi-directional (8 GB/sec in each direction)...so simply there is one versions of this card a PCI Express 2.0 Card, there is no such a special card for PCI express 3.0 there is only one card in the market that support 2.0 but could work on 3.0 because of backward compatible of PCI Express 3.0, In the other hand if that needed for this card to show the beast inside it then be it I don't personally care if it is PCI 2.0 or 3.0...it will give the same power using this architecture... |
Question: | Will this run in my pciex16 slot with an older gigabyte ultra durable 3 mobo with an am3+ processor? i'm trying to edit 4k without rebuilding |
Answer: | This card will work with Mac Pros, but not the "trash can" model which has hard wired ATI GPU cards in it (they cannot be replaced). It requires the six-pin GPU power cable which you may or may not have. You MUST download and install the Nvidia Mac driver for it to work which you can get from www.nividia.com. Do not rely on Apple Update. |
Question: | Will the Nvidia Quadro K5000 workstation graphics card now work (in PCIe slot 1) with Dual CPU motherboards such as Asus P9x79 deluxe |
Answer: | This is used for CAD 3D model not gaming for us. |
Question: | I've seen versions of this card that work with PCI Express 2.0 and 3.0. Does this exact card work with PCI |
Answer: | Hello, This black metal piece is a video card rear bracket, that holds card steady in the computer case, to avoid damage of the motherboard and/or video card. It is very easy to remove, there are 3 screws. Please let me know if you will have any questions. Kind Regards, TBR Trade LLC |
Question: | I would order this card for my Mac Pro, 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon. ... I saw a question if this card was compatible with Mac Pro |
Answer: | Yes, it supports 4k monitor as well |
