Will that work for U. I am happy with this laptop, except I thought the description read that a DVD player was also included. Mine did not have one. I have learned to live without. However, eventually bought an external DVD player (from Amazon) and downloaded a DVD Player APP for $15 from Microsoft App Store. All work fine until the E6420 (Microsoft 10) updated. So not sure what has happened. Guess the DVD Player driver was updated and won't function with the external DVD Player. | Answer: | I would strongly suggest ordering a pre-assembled fan and heat sink for the processor in your system. The "mounting plate" as you call it is actually the aluminum compound block that transfers the heat away from the processor. Most processors don't have a large enough area to dissipate the heat properly. The "mounting plate" has more than sufficient air contact surface. |

THere is a lever on the side of the item that is used to lock the unit onto the top of the microprocessor. I would suggest ordering a small tube of heat sink grease. Wipe off any remaining on the top of the processor and apply a new almost see-through film before mounting the fan assembly. The grease is not really a grease. It is a compound that enhances the transfer of heat from the processor to the "heat sink" mounted on the back of the fan. |
