User questions & answers
Question: | Does this product with the hue 2 black come with additional LED strips |
Answer: | That’s what I set mine on. |
Question: | Does rgb controller work with any motherboard? how do you connect the controller to the pc |
Answer: | According to the spec sheet for the case it can support a top 120 a rear 120 and the front can be either 2x120 or 2x140 but if your using a radiator it recommends 2x120 in the front.... I have never used that case so I don’t know if there room for play... but that’s what the spec sheet reads and there usually pretty good |
Question: | Can rgb & fan profiles be saved to the hardware, or do i need to be running the software |
Answer: | Yes, I believe you will need to use their controller. I have owned each set, the old and new controllers each have their own special connectors. I accidentally picked up the wrong controller and the fan did not work properly. I ended up having to trouble shoot the problem, only to locate I had picked up the wrong controller. Once I place the correct controller in place, all issue where then resolved. |
Question: | What cables come in the box for the single pack |
Answer: | The stock case fans are not PWM. They also have difference specs - they have a lower max RPM (1000 vs 1500), use rifle bearings instead of fluid dynamic ones, and have an overall lower airflow rate. Basically they're just cheap fans with the NZXT logo slapped onto them. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this plug in the motherboard or can I plug this in direcrly into my psu |
Answer: | Yes - it will control up to 6 3-pin fans of any brand/style; it will not control the RGB LEDs in the Riing fans though. It WILL control up to two of Thermaltake's LUMI LED strips |
Question: | Can i use this controller to power fans withiut a computer? Like power from a external power supply |
Answer: | Yes, it has 3 pins in each socket, with 8 sockets for fans, and comes with velcro to mount it. It runs from connecting it to a sata power connector. It does not PWM. It's always 1 speed and nearly full speed. If you need 4 pins and/or pulse width modulation of your fans try this one: SilverStone Technology All Black 1-to-8 PWM Fan Hub (CPF04). This is what I'll be upgrading this unit to next because it uses PWM to control all the fans connected to it. If you don't need PWM, then this will work fine. It will fit your 4 pin fan connectors, but just won't do more than turn them on at full speed. |
Question: | Can you plug 7 3pin fans into this |
Answer: | Core X9 is the case ,it is the same case i have |
Question: | Does this give a fan RPM signal back to the motherboard |
Answer: | Yes, it is a stand alone fan controller. Operating system will have no bearing on its operation. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can I control 6 fans rgb color and 6 fan controls such as rpm’s |
Answer: | It plugs into both. It uses a sata connector for power and a motherboard fan header for speed control. The motherboard connection is not required if you use the remote speed control device. |
Question: | Will this be able to control 3 hd120s and 3 sp120s |
Answer: | No, power comes from computer power supply. I just looked at the box and spare manual switch. You could rewire a external power supply to work, but then you would have a expensive extension cord with many tiny fan plugs. |
Question: | I'm really confused... do i even need the lighting node thing to control the lighting effects for the fans and led strips and link them up |
Answer: | You can plug 3pin fans into the 4pin headers but as far as I can tell any 3pin fans in 4pin headers run at full speed. The only 3pin fan that able to be controlled by motherboard or remote was in Fan1 header for variable speeds. I am not sure the 4pin headers can be voltage control like on a motherboard except in Fan1 header with a 3pin fan. Fan1 header appears to work just like the motherboard header able to be PWM or Voltage controlled. All 3pin headers in the fan controller were able to be voltage control to match Fan1 header speed connected with either a 3pin or 4pin fan. |
Question: | So i assume corsair wouldn't be nice enough to include an LED strip with the commander pro |
Answer: | Yes, which ever fan, 4 pin or 3 pin is plugged into Fan1 header will report back to the motherboard its RPM. You have to connect the Motherboard Cable into Input and motherboard fan header. Do not use the Manual Remote if you want to see RPM. Manual Remote only lets you select 3 speeds and bypasses motherboard all together. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will it work with any usb 2.0 accessories/devices or only nzxt products |
Answer: | The NZXT GRID+ V3 is a fan controller. If you have a Kraken and are adding two fans to it, the Kraken will generally be able to accept two more fans onto its fan splitter, that can be controlled with the other stock Kraken fans. Fans can also be powered by motherboard fan headers as well. We'd need a little more information to know for sure, but you may not need this product with your setup. |
Question: | I'm still lost on the way it connects.. is it a sata to 2.0 connector? Sata connects to hub, which connects directly to the usb 2 on the motherboard |
Answer: | Hello there, The Grid v3 is just for powering and controller 3 PIN and 4 PIN fans. This does not control the RGB portion of our AER RGB 2 fans, those fans would still need a LED controller to provide power and control the LEDs on the product. Have a nice day. |
Question: | Does this hub come with the connection cables |
Answer: | Hello there! Most AIO cooler (including Corsairs) require direct connection to a motherboard's CPU fan for proper operation, it is recommended to follow the manufacturer's directions for installation. Have a nice day! |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this motherboard support the new i9-10900k |
Answer: | If you mean the LED's on the RGB versions of SP120, they will have to be on a separate channel from the HD120's. But yet it will control them fine. |
Question: | Does it support m.2 drives |
Answer: | You need the Lighting Node Pro to control the LED strips. If you have the Commander Pro, then you don't need the Lighting Node Pro as that is built into the Commander Pro. The SP and HD Fans don't require a Node Pro or Commander Pro for lighting effects since they come with a manual controller for limited lighting effects, but using the Node or Commander will give you more options for lighting effects on those fans. The LL series of fans require a Node Pro or Commander Pro for the LED's to function and the LL kits do come with a Node Pro. |
Question: | Compatible con cor i7 de decima generación |
Answer: | İ have corsair commender pro and 2 corsair LL 140 MM (no led contoreller)and LL 120Mm ( no led controller )and lighting node pro Can use rgb led ?? Do i need led connecter or somethnig like that ? |
Question: | How many power phases? Does the nvme slot have a heatsink |
Answer: | The Grid+ V3 is specced for 5W per channel power output; PWM (and 3-pin fans at 100%) are 12V, so that is ~0.416A. As I discovered recently, if your fans are close to the maximum watts, NZXT's CUE software will trip a power limit and shut down the controller, so I advise planning your fan selection to keep power draw well below 5W per channel. For reference, mine tripped the power limit with 2 EK Vardar EVO RGB fans on a single channel, and those are specced for ~2.2W each, which should be well below the 5W limit per channel. |

SilverStone CPF04 System Cable is designed for enthusiasts with need for controlling numerous system fans. It is capable of expanding one motherboard PWM fan header to support up to eight fans. Powered directly by SATA cable from the computer power supply and filtered through a built-in 2200μF capacitor, the CPF04 system cable can provide clean, stable voltage to any fan for optimal performance. Equipped with speed detection* sensors for accurately controlling eight PWM fans simultaneously, it is an excellent solution for system fan expansion. *Fan will not start unless SATA power cable is connected. Speed detection and PWM speed control are functional only when motherboard is connected. *Speed control function is unavailable for 3 pin fans.
- 1-to-8 PWM connectors
- 2200μF capacitor provides stable voltage
- Support speed detection for accurately controlling fans
- PWM 4pin header x 8, compatible with 3pin cable (Speed control function is unavailable for 3 pin fans. Attached 3 pin fans will run at maximum RPM).
- Compact size at only 54mm (W) x 19mm (H) x 40mm (D). Included 3M adhesive to apply anywhere within your case.
User questions & answers
Question: | I have a microatx mobo with not enough fan headers for my phanteks p400a case. can i use this for the rgb fans that come with the case |
Answer: | Yes, that is the nature of most products like this. The PWM signal from your 4pin on the motherboard is sent to the hub which in turn adjusts the fan speed for all the connected fans. Keep in mind that you want to connect the same model fan on however many headers you use on the hub. You aren't going to break anything if you don't but some hubs work with just DC voltage and duty cycle based on a percentage. So if you have a fan that is rated for 1800rpm and another for 2800rpm and you run them at 50% one of two things is going to happen. The fastener one will be limited to running at 50% of the slower fan which completely nulls the purpose of having a higher rpm fan OR the slower one will max out at 1400rpm (in this scenario) to match the fastener one. The first scenario you contribute to uneven air flow in your case. If it's not a concern of yours go with it. The second scenario you have loud fan noise coming from one (or a few) of your fans because they are running almost at their max rpm. Make sense? The hub treats all connected fans the same as far as power is concerned. It won't matter if they are 3 or 4 pin, but they are still limited to their respective performance numbers or a percentage thereof. |
Question: | Does this come wth the PWM cable |
Answer: | Any fan that has three pin connectors. |
Question: | Does this power through the psu and not the motherboard? thx |
Answer: | Not with this fan hub. It takes PWM data from the CPU fan header, and it gets all the power it needs from the included SATA power connector. I have 6 Noctua PWM fans and one CPU heatsink fan connected to mine right now and there are no issues. |
Question: | How many amps will this handle |
Answer: | It can power up to 10 fans, but cannot control RGB. |
