Question:	How long are the cables
Answer:	There are 4 sets of cables with connections for USB2.0, HDMI, plus plugs for sound and microphone included, and each set is about 72 inches long. A nice feature are the sliding cable guides, that can be moved to adjust the separation of the cables to suit your computer port positions. The switch has worked well for several month, without issues.
Question:	Does this switch work for pre post to be able to enter fucntion commands and enter bios etc. prior to drivers loading
Answer:	I rebooted Ubuntu machine and pressed F1 to get into BIOS - no problem. Tried several times with Win10 but couldn't get into BIOS. I use a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse with my 4 port IOGeear MiniVIew. I suppose if I wanted to get into Win10 BIOS, I'd just take the Logitech dongle out of the 4 port switch and into the Win10 PC.

Question:	How many monitors can this support? I have three monitors that I want to share between two computers in different combinations
Answer:	If it's like the one I used to have, then it can support only one.But the bad news for you will be that while there are a few KVM switches which can support 2 monitors, a quick web search just now didn't find any that support more than that. HOWEVER there are a few ways around that to get more than 2 monitors.I assume that you have a DVI monitor since that's what this switch supports. If you can find a DVI-to-html converter (I know I've seen one in the past but I didn't find one just now) then if you convert your DVI to html and feed that to an html splitter box which allows multiple outputs, then you can run each of those to an html->dvi converter. But while in theory this approach would allow you to run anywhere from 2 to however many monitors you want to use (read "can afford"), in practice this setup would be so complex that it would probably (a) give more problems than you're likely to be able to solve, and (b) would cost a lot more than you'd like to spend.A cheaper solution would be to run multiple KVM switches (3 single-monitor switches, 1 single- and 1 dual-, or 2 dual- monitor switches). The problem there would be that even if you switch one of them with the keyboard sequence, you're still going to have to switch at least one of them manually as well. If you can find a keyboard splitter, then that might work; however, I haven't seen one of those in over a decade, and they were all in the pre-usb days :-(, so that's pretty unlikely.There is one other solution: at my previous office, there were a few techs who had 3 (or in once case 5) monitors and had switches for them which allowed the user to switch back and forth between multiple computers. The problem is that they were custom made for an extremely large (very large budget) company which didn't care about the cost. IIRC the cost for each switch (which looked more like a mid-tower PC) was in thousands.

Answer:	I had problems using it with my Lenovo laptop with docking station. I turned out to be problems with the usb connection. My docking station has a number of USB ports so I tried them all until I found one that worked and after a couple of years I still can only use that one USB port. Not sure why it worked that way but it works. Good luck!

Answer:	the keyboard and mouse USB ports are black so I assume USB 2.0. There is 1 USB 3 port for the console and the connection from each computer is blue, type B, so presumably USB 3.

Answer:	I don't know - that sounds like a question for the manufacturer. It may be doing something like that, though: for both my personal Windows laptop running Windows 10 and my work laptop running Windows 7, when I switch between them any windows opened on the second display are positioned correctly when I switch back as long as the computers remains active and unlocked. On the Win10 computer it appears to remember the correct display, size and position of each window unless brought out of sleep mode when it doesn't own the 2nd display. The Win7 computer will always move and resize windows back to the main display on being unlocked or brought out of sleep whether or not it owns the 2nd display..

Answer:	All the cables that we needed to use with our 2 computers and 2 monitors are included. I can't say that it has everything that every situation would need.

Answer:	Technically, you could get away with it, but that defeats the purpose of the dual monitor KVM. If every device only needs to connect to one monitor, you don't need this KVM. If you want to connect each computer to 2 monitors, then YES, you need to use both the Cyan and Yellow cable.

Answer:	I use a Logitech wireless keyboard/mouse. It would only work if I plug the dongle into the "Mouse" USB port. But, it works perfectly when switching between display ports.

Answer:	Christina, this unit is not rack mountable unless you do some modifications. If you were able to do that, it would only be 1U.

Answer:	My IT dept provided me this 2-port KVMP switch with DVI-DL to DP cables. I got no video out of them. After lots of testing and calls to Dell, the conclusion was that I either needed an Active Adapter for DVI to DP, or to use DVI to HDMI. I was unable to test the active adapter solution. NOTE: With DVI to HDMI, I was limited to 720p resolution. With DVI-DL to HDMI, I got full 1080p resolution. Computer tested: Dell E5440 with docking station. Monitors tested: Dell P2717H (has both DP 1.2 and HDMI 1.4). Also, DVI DL to a monitor with DVI-DL input (my Samsung P2770) works great as well.

Answer:	IOGEAR says: You can cascade 2 GCS1808's together or a GCS1808 to a GCS1716 . These 2 models are compatible with each other . There is a cascade cable that comes with each of these models. Answer:	We did receive ours with rack mount ear, but that was a few years ago. In that time, they may have changed what's included with the product.

Answer:	I just looked at the bottom of my unit. There is no part number only serial number and model number GCS1808.
