Answer:	They come as a pair. I have been using them for a long time. You do have to replace the outer covers and tip after a while, but they still last longer than wood sticks if you do a lot of rim shots, like I do.

Answer:	You could do this. As long as the paper isn't metallic it should not interfere with the pen communication. Note that by default your tablet will map to your overall desktop, this may result in a different aspect ration when drawing on the tablet if tracing. There are options in the Wacom Tablet Properties however which allow you to adjust your tablet active area to match whatever workflow you would like.
