User questions & answers
Question: | The ide female connector on mac has one pin blocked so only room to plug in 43 pins. can i cut out the extra pin on the compact flash |
Answer: | Dear Customer, Yes, you can cut the pin. We recommend bending the pin out of the way first to test that it's the right pin, so you don't end up damaging this board. |
Question: | in the photos, one of the pins is bent. is that a standard feature or does that cost extra |
Answer: | There no bent pins. These pins are longest then other and it is like an visual illusion. |
Question: | What is the maximum size CF card you can use in this |
Answer: | This adapter only works with Type I CF cards. There is no CF storage capacity restriction (in Mb or Gb). Sandisk (http://www.sandisk.com/) advertises a 256Gb model; they don't say if it's Type I or Type II. Other vendors may make larger. Amazon shows an 8Gb . |
Question: | Does it combine the two CF cards into one disk or does each card appear as a separate disk |
Answer: | You can see both cards as two separate devices, second cf is slave. Only the master cf can be bootable. |

Question: | what is the size of opening WxH? thanks |
Answer: | it's a standard 3.5 front panel opening sorry I can't find a tape measure right now but it would fit a floppy or a card reader or tany 3.5 front panel type device like a lighting control panel or a fan controller etc.etc. size of a 3.5 HDD basically |
Question: | are the sata data cables 6gp/s |
Answer: | Hello, I'm not sure why I was asked to answer your question as I purchased a different bracket but here is the information I have found. The StarTech website does not state what speed of cable they provide. Not being familiar with the different speeds of Sata drives I searched on Sata 6gp/s cables and found an informative page on 6pg/s vs 3gp/s sata cables from puget systems. It doesn't appear to matter. The 3gp/s rated cables with support 6gp/s speeds. Good luck. |
Question: | tooless |
Answer: | Amazon strikes again! Lumping different products together in the same Q&A. BRACKET225PT says "Tool-Less Installation" and "6 - mounting pegs for bracket installation" - NO mention of screws of any type. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can i used this in an nzxt case |
Answer: | Once you assembly it, it matches the size of a 5 -1/2 drive EXCEPT for the position of the connector. It CANNOT be used in a chassis where the connector is in a fixed position. Otherwise you are fine. |
Question: | Does anyone know if this will work in this desktop: dell xps 8700? thanks |
Answer: | If I remember correctly, only two of the four holes lined up with the hard drive bay on a 2013 XPS 8700. It is definitely secure but isn't too sightly. Also, mine only came with four screws, but i don't think the picture had 8 screws in it when I bought it. |
Question: | Can i use this with the seagate firecuda 2.5 sshd in my corsair 750d airflow |
Answer: | I have no idea what a corsair 750d airflow is, but it will fit any 2.5" sshd. |
Question: | Will this work with a backplane (no cable, drive slides directly into SATA socket) connector |
Answer: | We could not get it to match up on both a Dell PowerEdge 2900 and SuperMicro Servers. The way the drive is mounted is about two millimeters higher then where the connectors are on the backplane. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this the equipment to mount SSD in place of the DVD compartment in laptops |
Answer: | No. It is meant to mount a 2.5 inch SSD drive in the place where a 3.5 inch HDD goes in a desktop computer. |
Question: | im trying to replace my hard drive in my late 2009 imac 27''.. wondering if this will fit properly |
Answer: | From the videos I have seen on YouTube, this bracket should work. The iMac uses cables to connect the hard drive so the location of the connectors is not an issue. The locations of the mounting screws on the bracket are the same as a hard drive so there is no problem there as well. The bracket is almost the same height as a hard drive so that is the only thing that needs to be checked. |
Question: | Does this work with hotswap bays that depend on the standard connector positioning or does this only allow connections from cables |
Answer: | Model BK-PCBS will work. It is made to line up perfectly with 3.5" drive connectors. I have tested this in rail-less NAS, RAIDs, and an older Mac Pro. |
Question: | Does this come with any screws |
Answer: | A bit confusing that some people reported not receiving screws. I thought it was great that the kit came with every screw needed to mount dual SSDs and fasten the bracket to the PC. Purchased in 2016 and again in January 2020. |

User questions & answers
Question: | My Enermax tower has a mount for 3.5 inch hdds that slide in an out on a holder. Will this fit |
Answer: | I would think so. My NZXT Tower has several 3.5 inch mounts that slide in and out and that is where I put my ICY DOCK with a 2.5 inch SSD. |
Question: | Does this come with screws |
Answer: | It does not come with screws |
Question: | Will this fit my Dell precision 3600 tower |
Answer: | The Dell precision 3600 does use trays/caddies for 3.5" hard drives. It is possible to fit this bracket into the 3.5" tray/caddie of the Dell, as the holes on the side of this product is at the same location as an actual 3.5" hard drive. However, the cables to connect the drives in the bracket would be a bit harder to connect, as it would be hard to use any sort of 90 degree cables. If you just planning to replace a 3.5" hard drive with just a single 2.5" ssd/hdd, I would suggest getting an IcyDock converter for 2.5" hard drives. |
Question: | Will this work in a 3.5 hard drive caddy? Aka, will it line up the sata connections at the end to the exact place a 3.5 hd would be |
Answer: | Probably, but the connectors may be in the wrong place. The centerline will remain the same, but the 2.5 hard drive connectors could be offset from the 3.5 connectors. I suspect it depends on the reach of the connectors within the caddy. Instead, I would fabricate an insert using something like styrofoam packing to position the 2.5" drive. |

- Compatible with 2.5" HDD / SSD with 7mm to 9.5mm drive height

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this fit in a Corsair Carbide 200r |
Answer: | This should fit inside the Corsair Carbide 200r, provided the case has a standard 5.25 inch computer bay. The product is designed to fit inside standard 5.25 inch computer bays. |
Question: | Is one unit splitable? Could I order one and remove the middle screw(s) and make it into two units |
Answer: | You can detach the top and bottom halves by removing the screw. This would change the product into 2 pieces. |
Question: | Does this come with the removable HDD bay pictured |
Answer: | No. This is a mounting bracket, not a removable bay. |
Question: | Does the version that has the slimline odd adapter come with the faceplate? Not dust cover, but the plate that clamps onto the odd |
Answer: | This product is a bracket that holds a ultra slim optical disk drive (ODD, 9.5mm height) in a 5.25" external computer bay. The optical bay can be screwed into the bracket itself. If you are looking for the one with the slide in plate for the optical drive, that would be the MB994IPO-3SB model. |
- Convert any 2 2.5" Hardrive into a 3.5" drive bay
- Compatible with all types of 2.5" hard drive. Including SSD DRIVES!!!
- Quick and easy installation
- For use in 3.5" internal drive bay

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the actual product dimensions for the 2-ssd model? amazon says 0.5 inches tall, but that seems like it can't be correct |
Answer: | Measures .5" in height. All hardware was included. Installed laptop drive into the enclosure and installed in my tower. |
Question: | Will this work in the drive trays of a MAC PRO? are the connections lined up exactly, so the drive bay slides in and engages the contacts |
Answer: | I can confirm the Sabrent BK-HDDF will NOT work in a Mac Pro. I just tried: the bracket does fit the drive bay sled(s) (not too big) but the SATA/PWR connectors do not align. FYI - mine is a Mac Pro 4,1 (2009) model, though I believe the form factors for drive bays are the same 2006-2012 models. |
Question: | Fits iMac |
Answer: | Fits (barely) in 2007 through 2010 iMac 24-inch. A 2.5 inch drive fits the Sabrent adapter perfectly (screws included), and the Sabrent adapter fits the iMac mounting hardware perfectly, but the 2.5 inch drive is about 1/2-inch from the sides of the adapter, so the iMac SATA and Power cables are barely long enough to reach. It was a stretch, but they were just barely long enough, and everything works fine. |
Question: | Does this adapter come with rubber pads to fit between the metal and the ssd when you screw it in to limit vibrations |
Answer: | Ssd's have no moving parts. |
Question: | Will this fit my ssd into my macpro 2008 ? will i need any extra parts besides this device |
Answer: | I don't own a mac, but it should fit. If not, return it and let others know if it doesn't work. :) |
Question: | Is a pack of 2 pair or 2 pcs |
Answer: | Yes, I bought these in the past. It came to my mail box 2 pairs (4 pcs. total). They can be used to adapt 3.5" hdd to the size of cd or dvd burners for desk top computers without problem ! |
Question: | Is the fan noisy |
Answer: | Nope |
Question: | Is a pack of 2 pair or 2 pcs |
Answer: | yes, if I understand |

Question: | Will it work with wd blue 3d nand 1tb pc ssd - sata iii 6 gb/s, m.2 2280 - wds100t2b0b |
Answer: | WDS100T2B0B is a B&M-key SSD, which means it will work in both B-key (SATA) and M-key (NVMe/PCIe) sockets. Since PEX4M2E1 here has an M-key socket, it will fit. The caveat is that you will only 2 lanes of PCIe (x2) with B&M-key. Only M-key will provide 4 lanes (x4). The SATA/AHCI functionality will not be available with PEX4M2E1, too. You will only get NVMe. |

With the M.2 PCIe based drives in place, the adapter increases your storage capacity and gives your computer a significant speed boost, enhancing data transfer rates.
Access two M.2 PCIe SSDs simultaneously
The dual M.2 to PCIe expansion card employs a high-speed ASM2824 switch, allowing you to access two drives at the same time.
Since the adapter card does not rely on PCIe bifurcation, it can easily be integrated into all systems, new and legacy.
The M.2 PCI express adapter also gives you the flexibility to access your M.2 PCIe SSDs individually. Or, you can utilize software RAID to build a RAID array to add redundancy or enhance system performance.
Wide System Compatibility
The adapter connects directly to your computer motherboard to support two PCIe M.2 SSDs through a x8 PCIe expansion slot.
The adapter is compatible with PCIe 3.0 motherboards and is backward compatible with PCIe 2.0 and PCIe 1.0.
Supports a Wide Range of PCIe M.2 SSDs
The PCIe M.2 NGFF (M Key) adapter supports PCIe 3.0 NVMe and PCIe-AHCI M.2 SSDs including 2242, 2260, and 2280 drives, supporting the most common drive sizes: 42, 60, and 80 mm lengths.
Easy to Install
The expansion card comes with a full-profile bracket pre-installed, and includes a half-height / low-profile bracket, for installation in small form-factor computers.
Vented Brackets
Vented brackets on the PCIe M.2 NGFF SSD adapter card increases air flow to assist in heat dissipation.

User questions & answers
Question: | My imac has sata 2.0 interface (3gb/s). will this product also upgrade the speed to be sata 3.0 (6gb/s |
Answer: | Hello Steve Li,Great question. The NewerTech AdaptaDrive is fully compatible with SATA I,II and III. However you will only get drive speeds if the interface your computer has. If you have a SATA II interface you will only get SATA II speeds, it will not upgrade to SATA III. If you have any further questions, please email [email protected]. |
Question: | What about the power if i want to setup a Notebook HDD into my Dektop (format purposes |
Answer: | This adaptor has all the same jacks as a full-sized SATA HDD. I used this to put an SSD in my 2012 (old-style chassis) Mac Pro. It just simply screws into whatever bracket would normally be holding the HDD and then you plug the same cables into the aforementioned jacks/ports on the adaptor. You would have to look at the pictures, as it has been too long for me to remember, but I am pretty sure there are mounting holes (for the screws) on both the top and on the side of the adaptor. I used the top holes (as I have a Mac Pro) and it installed flawlessly. If it is an older Mac Pro like mine, you screw the bracket into the carrier and slide the carrier into place (as Apple has the SATA plugs set in fixed locations in the back). If you are using a PC where the SATA wires are plugged in by hand, just put the 3.5" drive in the bracket, mount the bracket just like any other SATA drive, and then plug in the cables by hand. |
Question: | There's no picture to confirm. On the connect that the 2.5" drive connects to, will it accept a SAS drive. No Notch between power and sata interface |
Answer: | This is for Solid state Hard drive adapter from 2.5 to 3.5 space holder. you will need this for desktop hard drive slot. |
Question: | Will this work for installing an SSD in the super drive bay on an imac? Thanks in advance |
Answer: | Verify iMac has the necessary mounting points. Use this kit (see link below) to install the SSD drive while retaining your Super (DVD) Drive.http://www.yourmacstore.com/internal-ssd...If above won't work and you don't want to mickey mouse mount the SSD, you can use OWC's data doubler kit to replace the Super (DVD) Drive (link below).http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20W...To use above route, make sure the SSD is connected to the SATA III port on the main board of the iMac since only 2 of the 3 SATA ports on the Mid 2011 iMac are SATA III compliant.Although, this is only relevant if your SSD is SATA III or your IMac is older than 2011.Found this too from maxupgrades.com:MaxConnect SSD bay Hard Drive kit for 2.5 inch Drive for 2011 iMac 27 Models - SZ-IMACSSDBAYMT-02 - http://www.maxupgrades.com/istore/index.... Should work if necessary mounting points for the SSD bay are in IMac. I would get the SSD first AFTER verifying it will fit in the IMac mounting points. If the SSD is too small then you will need the AdaptaDrive, which I have used in my MacBookPro & PC's. They are very price comepetitive & come with all parts required & so far, after installing 8 of them, no issues! Also recommend the Samsung 840 Pro SSD. I have 8 of the 500Gbyte! Great SSD designed for YEARS of hassle free service.Best of luck & hope this helps you. |
