I would recommend experimentation with a camera you already own, like the one on your phone or tablet or even a regular video camera. They will not likely show as wide a view as this but you can get an idea, and also get an idea of what happens when the image has too much light because it is facing towards open sunlight. |

| Answer: | If you mean the blue wire on the LCD screen, it is a video input switch. The monitor is hooked up with the red wire to 12 volts, black to ground and the blue wire to your backup lights. There are two RCA inputs, one male and one female yellow. The male is video one input. The female is video two input. On the front of the LCD monitor, you can press the "V1/V2" button to switch between these inputs. If you connect the blue wire to your backup lights and use video one for something (like a dvd player), when your backup lights are on, the 12 volts to that blue wire will cause the monitor to switch to video TWO which is where you would connect the backup camera. Shift out of reverse, the backup lights go off and the LCD monitor will switch back to video ONE input. Hope this helps. |

It works great with little light or the back up lights only. I have backed up till I was about in the red zone & was able to get within a few inches with out hitting anything. Most people don't know that it can be used with almost any display & therefore probably wouldn't want to steal it. I also wired one to a spare TV in a room I use as an office-electronic lab, due to being handicap, & just have it setting in a window so I can watch anyone coming into my yard. I would order a 7" display for the car, as it gives you a better view. They are not too high on line. |
