Answer:	When I did the simple install (just plug it onto the 30 pin board) I merely tuned on the power switch on the Smof and left it on (powered by the Bose unit). It will remain on until you kill the power. Mine has been steadily on for the most part. I do turn it off on occasion to avoid automatic connection with devices that have been trained to recognize it. In a nutshell, it's plug and play and it's up to you to turn it off. The Smof is always scanning for a device to pair with. Easy device to control and use. Overall, I am satisfied thus far. Hope this helped. Happy listening!!
