However, I encourage others to independently verify this information as the Sony reps seemed quite "shaky" in their technical knowledge. We had to agree to disagree on the Maximum Transfer rate stated on their website. The fastest consumer grade solid state drives top out around 550MBs; 6Gbs=625MBs (note the use of "B" and "b"). The tech did not seem to understand. |

| Answer: | I have done some minimal filming in low light situations using only existing light. There is a setting that will make the camera more sensitive to low light but the picture begins to become grainy under these conditions. There is also a Backlight compensation setting that will brighten the image if background lighting exceeds the subject that is in shadow. Under normal conditions of indoor filming, I found the picture quality was surprisingly acceptable. This small and lightweight camera is a heavyweight when it comes to quality, and I have witnessed it personally being used in place of High End HD quality cameras such as a Television pilot for a reality TV program, and have spotted it many times in other reality shows such as Ghost Adventurers on the Travel Channel. I do not know if Mac, Linux, or even other Windows versions will make it possible to connect using USB. Most computers have SDHC slot so you can insert the SDHC memory card to the slot and transfer the files to your computer. The video files are AVHD so you may need to download Sony PlayMemories software or some other software that can play AVHD files. |

| Answer: | I think the answers are confusing to some. Here's the scoop. You can use an external battery pack like the one you charge your Iphone with or you can plug it into a USB port or you can use the 110v adapter with USB cable plugged in. When you do those following things the camera is running off those power sources and not your battery. And yes, you can record while plugged into those external power sources. The battery will not charge when doing that and recording but that should not be a problem. Charge your battery at home. Now start recording and when your battery gets low plug into your external battery pack or USB and keep going. I own this camera and did the experiment. I use this in my car as a dash cam and it's plugged into my cigarette lighter and it runs non stop without using the battery. |
