User questions & answers
Question: | Will this unit play in the loop mode |
Answer: | Thank you for reaching out! Yes this unit will play videos on repeat. |
Question: | will this playback DVD +rw media |
Answer: | yes, it has played everything I have thrown at it, very versatile. |
Question: | dose this player remember where it stops |
Answer: | Don't you just love all the conflicting answers to this simple question? So I'm going to assume using good faith that everyone is answering truthfully. Then logically that means there are several variations of the Panasonic DVD Player DVD-S700 where this function does not work on one variation (let's say maybe the black version) and it does on the white version. How else can you explain that I just received the black version and there's no way this resume function works using any of the straightforward or convoluted instruction provided in the manual, in the answers below, or instructions found by googling. Sorry folks, if you want the safe answer, it is no this does not resume where you left off after stopping (not pausing since that would be a "dah") the episode. Just as an aside, I've owned many dvd players over the years, and this is the first one I've encountered where this function doesn't work. |
Question: | Why not get a BluRay player that upscales regular DVDs? Wouldn't that be far more versatile |
Answer: | I'm getting this over a modern Blu-ray player for a number of reasons. A. This device can be easily unlocked to play any region DVD's, a region free Blu-ray player costs around $200. B. I want a dedicated DVD player that is made strictly for that purpose as I have a huge DVD collection and not many Blu-ray's, for many Blu-ray players, the DVD aspect is somewhat of an afterthought and not the purpose of the machine, you will notice in reading Blu-ray player reviews, people often complain about their players not playing older dvd's getting error messages with DVD's ect., it is a different technology and an "add on " for a Blu-ray player. C. Modern Blu-ray players try to do too much, they have all this technology and bells and whistles, there are a lot more things to go wrong in them, freeze up and fry the machines, ect., they also are constantly getting on the internet and updating software and that can make the machine more prone to go bad too with one bad line of code or a virus. My Sony Blu-ray player jumped on the internet and reported me to Sony because it thought the disk I was watching was a bootleg, my player actually tattled on me while whatching a movie and the machine froze and I got a notice in my email from Sony accusing me of pirating. In any event for me anyway, there are a number of reasons I would choose a good basic player for $50 and not have all the bells, whistles and headaches. Here's another interesting article related to modern Blu-ray players, apparently they only work as long as they keep updating copyrights, and the company can decide at any given time not to update older machines, and you will never be able to watch newer disks once this happens. http://sacramento.cbslocal.com/2013/09/26/call-kurtis-why-your-samsung-blu-ray-player-may-not-play-your-movies/ |

Panasonic DMR-EZ48VP-K is an upconvert DVD Recorder with VHS VCR, Digital Tuner, 1080p Up-Conversion, HDMI Simple Connection, VIERALink, SD Memory Card Slot, USB Terminal and Super Multi-Format Recording & Playback.1080p Upconverting VHS DVD Recorder with Built In Tuner.
From the Manufacturer
1080p Up-Conversion
By interpolating video data using proprietary algorithms, SD format data is up-converted to 1080 x 1920p HD format video data. This conversion increases the richness of the original data by almost six fold, producing the highest possible image quality when viewing content on a large-screen HDTV.
Digital Tuner Capable
The high-performance hybrid digital tuner is capable of receiving both digital and analog broadcasts. And even when digital signals drop out because of interference with direct signal access, which makes the picture either disappear or become filled with block noise, the Digital Tuner still produces a beautiful picture.
Easy Operation with VIERALink™
Connect your Panasonic DVD recorder to your VIERA flat-panel HDTV via an HDMI cable, and the TV channel setting information is automatically downloaded to the recorder. Once the Auto Preset Download is complete, the DVD recorder will keep whichever TV channel you're watching as its receiving channel. This means you can record the program you're watching by just pressing the Record button on the VIERA remote. With VIERALink™, you don't have to worry about setting the recorder to the right channel every time you want to record something.
Expansion of Usages
The Panasonic DMR-EZ48VK DVD recorder is equipped with an SD Memory Card slot and USB terminal, which makes it easy to view photos from your digital camera. Just slip the SD card into the slot or use the cable to connect the camera to the USB terminal, and you're ready to enjoy a spectacular big-screen slideshow with family and friends. You can even listen to music recorded onto a USB device while viewing your photos.
Universal Design
All of our DVD recorder models are designed in compliance with Panasonic's Universal Design principles. Frequently used buttons (Power, Open/Close) are located at the top of the main unit to make them easier to see when the unit is placed in a rack and you need to look down when operating it. Both the remote control and graphical user interface (GUI) were designed for easy use by everyone, based on the results of a Panasonic survey.

Answer: | The remote works for any |
Question: | Does it record tv on the sdhc card? or play downloaded video |
Answer: | You have to have a power source. There are very inexpensive amps that you can by through Amazon for $20 - $40 if you don't have huge speakers. These will only allow you to use one thing at a time. CD player. tape player or turntable can be easily changed. If you have bigger speakers, a strong enough amp can still be purchase for $100 or less if you don't care about a tuner. For about $140 you can have everything. I just bought a Sony STR-DH 130 that has lots of power, hooks up everything and has a tuner . Check out Sony STR-DH130 on Amazon and it will show you an assortment. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this allow you to put vhs tapes onto dvds |
Answer: | I wonder if it would be worthwhile to repair vs. purchasing a new unit. I personally would not repair it. In the future plug into a surge suppressor. Try this: Pull the plug for a few minutes. Then plug it back in. Then hold down the power button continuously for one minute. If it does not reboot, say good-bye. |
Question: | Can you use a universal remote |
Answer: | Yes, you can select 1:2 hrs 2:00hrs 2:30 hrs 3:00 hrs |
Question: | Does it come with cables and remote |
Answer: | Not sure what your problem is? Are you having an issue with the set-up menu? I assume the RC means the remote for your programming? Many options are contingent on setting the time and date. Do you still have your manual? If not, I think you can get one from Panasonic's website, but not sure. |
Question: | can this combo be used for bubbing from vcr to dvd |
Answer: | I never attempted to record TV on to the SD card, because playback of video/music from the SD card was slow and cumbersome. The issues experienced with this unit were many and if you review the 1 and 2 Star ratings, you will note many common problems. If you already own this unit I wish you success. If you are considering the purchase of this unit, I wish you LOTS of luck because it will likely raise your blood pressure 10 points! I ended up trashing my EZ47V and reinstalling my JVC HR-S3500 (SUPER VHS) & purchasing a SONY BDP-S 6200 Blu-Ray Player. The JVC unit is over 10 years old and functions without problems. The SONY Blu-Ray Player occasionally locks up and must be 'unplugged' to reset. (Oh, if you do not already have a 3D TV/Monitor there is absolutely no reason to buy a 3D Blu-Ray Player. The extra $ will be wasted). |

Panasonic, DVD Recorder, DV Input, HDMI, SD Card Slot
Record your home movies and your favorite TV programs easily to DVD disc with the Panasonic DMR-ES25S progressive scan recorder/player, which provides ultimate flexibility in recording media options. It also includes an HDMI digital audio/video output, which can "up-convert" standard DVD movie discs to near HD resolution. Where standard DVD players (even progressive scan models) provide just 480 lines of resolution, the DMR-ES25S up-converts the picture up to 720p and 1080i high-def video formats--taking full advantage of your HD television's sparkling resolution. (Note that your TV must have an HDMI connection; HDMI cable not included.)
Choose from a full spectrum of recordable DVD media--write-once DVD+R and DVD-R discs or rewritable DVD-RW/+RW and DVD-RAM discs. (For temporary storage, such as your favorite weekly shows, DVD-RAM discs are a great choice as they can be rewritten more times than DVD-RW/+RW discs.) It's easy to record TV programming with the built-in analog TV tuner with RF pass-through and seven-day TV Guide electronic programming guide. In addition to standard DVD movie and CD audio discs and its compatible recordable formats, the DMR-ES25S can play back CD-R/RW, dual layer DVD-R/+R, and VCD disc formats as well as JPEG, and MP3 digital formats. You can also view individual images and photo slideshows using the integrated Secure Digital (SD) memory card slot (compatible with JPEG and TIFF file formats).
Panasonic's Time Slip function consists of two features designed to give you added flexibility and control when making DVD recordings: Chasing Playback and Simultaneous Record & Play. With Chasing Playback, you don't have to wait for an entire program to be recorded before watching it from beginning to end. This feature allows you to watch a program that's currently being recorded from any point that's already been recorded--while continuing to record the live program in progress. Simultaneous Record & Play allows you to record a program onto a disc while simultaneously watching any other program that's previously been recorded on the same disc.
You can set your recorder to one of five different recording speeds, each varying in recording quality and length. EP mode yields the most recording time, LP & SP modes provide less recording time with higher quality recording, and XP mode gives you the highest quality recording. There's also the FR (Flexible Recording) mode that lets you record with the best picture quality possible for the recording time and remaining space on the disc.
The Direct Navigator feature makes it easy to find a previously recorded program on a disc. A list of recording dates, times, channels and (user-entered) titles are shown on screen. With the Playlist Playback function, you can perform simple non-linear video editing using, such as rearranging the order of scenes, skipping over unwanted scenes, or copying selections
Jump directly to any spot on a disc and begin playback or recording right away with the Rapid Random Access function when using DVD-RAM discs. Even if there is no sequential area of empty space available, this DVD recorder can record data on available space throughout the rest of the disc. You will also avoid searching for a blank spot to start recording, or accidentally recording over desired material.
Enjoy a great picture on you flat screen LCD or plasma HDTV using the component video output, and immersive surround sound via the optical digital audio output for Dolby Digital and DTS home theater effects. It also offers a FireWire port (also known as IEEE1394 or i.Link) for direct connection to a digital video camcorder, enabling you to download footage directly to disc. The full lineup of video and audio connections includes:
- RF Input: 1
- Composite video/audio input: 2 (1 front)
- Composite video/audio output: 1
- S-Video input: 2 (1 front)
- S-Video output: 1
- Component video output: 1

Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections .
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.
High Definition Formats: The most common high-def (HD) video format is 720p, which displays video at 720 vertical by 1280 horizontal pixels. The "p" denotes that it is progressive scan, meaning that all video lines are filled at the same time. The 1080i format displays video at 1080 vertical by 1920 horizontal pixels, and the "i" means that it is interlaced (the old-school way of presenting video where the screen scans the odd-numbered video lines first, then the even-numbered lines). The 1080p format has the same pixel resolution as 1080i, but it is a progressive scan format and thus has a constant vertical resolution of 1080 lines.

Panasonic's Advanced O.I.S. shifts a corrective lens as you shoot to help eliminate the effects of hand shake, so you get clear, sharp shots even at high zoom levels. It's an essential feature for getting the most out of this incredible zoom lens.

Advanced O.I.S.
Panasonic's Advanced O.I.S. helps suppress the effects of hand-shake as you shoot, for both motion and still images. This system uses gyrosensors to detect even tiny amounts of hand-shake, then shifts a lens and adjusts the optical axis to compensate - all at an astounding 4,000 times per second. It also covers approximately 3 times the stabilization area of our previous SD9 model. Because the system is optical, there's minimal loss of image quality even when viewed on a large-screen TV.
Pure Color Engine
The Pure Color Engine converts the CCD output signal from a complementary color signal into an RGB signal at an early stage and extracts the low-frequency luminance component from the RGB signal. This innovative engine also achieves truly superb color reproduction for high-zoomed pictures.
Soft Skin Mode
When this function detects skin tones, it softens the focus in that area. This has a skin beautifying effect, which makes wrinkles and lines appear less noticeable. When turned on, this function makes blemishes and moles look less conspicuous, while preserving resolution in areas of the picture outside of the skin.

Shooting Functions
iA (Intelligent Auto)
Sometimes a scene is backlit or too dark, or it's difficult to get a good focus on the subject. Adjusting the settings every time is not only a hassle, it can be very tricky. That's where iA comes in. This powerful function senses the shooting conditions and automatically makes the settings and activates functions that will deliver optimal results. With both motion and still images, iA lets you forget about bothersome settings and makes it easy to capture beautiful, well-focused images.

This mode captures faces beautifully. Face Detection automatically senses the ambient lighting and adjusts the exposure accordingly, so faces are bright and easy to see. The focus also prioritizes the faces, and skin tones are smoothed. Faces in the center of the frame serve as the reference for adjustments, but the function can detect up to 15 faces in all.
Shake Detection: Advanced O.I.S.
When hand-shake is detected while shooting, the Advanced O.I.S. system is automatically activated to compensate for blurring and produce beautiful recorded images. Because the system is optical, there's only minimal loss of image quality even when viewed on a large-screen TV.
Scene Selection: Intelligent Scene Selector
The shooting conditions are detected, and the optimal Scene mode is automatically selected. Even if the subject should change, there's no need to manually redo the settings, so you can concentrate entirely on your shot.
60 GB Hard Drive
The internal hard drive lets you record continuously for up to 54 hours without changing a disc, SDHC/SD Memory Card or other recording media.
One-touch Navigation and Joystick Control
The joystick makes the camera much easier to use, letting you control all basic operations quickly. As you shoot, just watch the image in the monitor and follow the instruction guide. You can handle a number of operations quickly and easily, without even taking your eye off the subject.
- Help Mode Not sure what a certain icon means? Just switch on the Help mode and select the icon. It's explained for you on the LCD monitor. This makes it easier to learn the icons, and you spend less time reading the operating manual.

Pre-rec Function
This clever new function records three seconds of images even before you actually begin shooting. The images are held temporarily in the camcorder's internal memory, before recording onto the SDHC/SD Memory Card begins. This helps ensure that you won't miss the start of a moment you want to record, such as when an event begins all of a sudden. For example, if you're waiting to snap a shot of a jumping dolphin, you can press the REC button after you've made sure that the dolphin has cleared the surface of the water. The camcorder will record the entire scene, from the instant of the dolphin's jump until it disappears again into the sea.
Color Night View
Leave the light off. Color Night View gives you images with color even in dim lighting (2 lx). Light from the LCD is gentle and easy on the eyes, so you can snap shots of sleeping children without waking them up.

Auto Power LCD
The LCD brightness can be adjusted manually to suit the surroundings. In Auto mode, the LCD brightness is adjusted automatically in 16 smooth steps depending on the surroundings. In darker rooms it adjusts to a lower brightness, making it easier to frame the shot. Outside, it adjusts to around twice the brightness for easy viewing even on sunny days.
0.8-second Quick Start
Simply flip open the LCD and you're ready to shoot in just 0.8 second. When Eco mode is also used, the power turns off whenever the camcorder has not been operated for 5 minutes. This reduces wasted power consumption, and enables a longer battery life.

World Time
Handy for travellers, this function makes it easy to set the camcorder time when you cross time zones and again when you return home. Simply select your destination from the displayed map, and the camcorder is automatically set for that time zone. The time for two different places can be set--such as home and destination--and you can switch between the times by simply pressing a button.
Easy Editing
You can do some polished editing using just the camera itself. For example, you can delete scenes right on the spot or change the scene sequence to create your own scenarios.
- Playlist Edit It's easy to change the sequence of the scenes you've recorded, and then play them back.
- Dividing and Deleting This function makes it easy to split up the recorded scenes and delete the front half or back half.
Web Mode for Easy Uploading to YouTube
- Shooting YouTube limits videos to 10 minutes. In Web mode the camcorder uses a 10-minute countdown system, so you're assured that the recording won't be too long for YouTube, and you won't have to edit it down after shooting.
- Uploading The Upload mode in the VideoCam Suite (included) is automatically activated as soon as the camcorder is connected to the PC. To upload, simply choose the image file you want and click the Upload button. Encoding is no longer a hassle, as the software does all the work for you.
VideoCam Suite editing software is just the tool you need to make polished, smartly finished productions. It lets you load images into your PC for putting scenes in a different order and delete the ones you don't want with simple operation. When you're finished with your video production, you can use VideoCam Suite to reserve the edited version onto a DVD disc.
- USB 2.0 (HS Mode) USB 2.0 compatibility lets you upload a motion picture data to a PC at high speed over a single USB cable.
Connect the H80 directly to a DVD burner via a USB cable. You can then copy recordings from the SDHC/SD Memory Card or HDD to a DVD disc with easy operation. The disc you make can be played on DVD players, so playback is easy too.

VIERA Image Viewer
If your VIERA TV has an SD Memory Card Slot and can play MPEG2 files, you're equipped for spectacular viewing. Just slip your card into the slot and get ready to watch beautiful motion pictures on VIERA's large screen. You get all the fun of seeing your images on the big screen, with none of the hassle of connecting cables.
Storing on a DIGA
If you have an MPEG2-compatible DIGA with an internal hard disk and SD Memory Card Slot, saving your images on the hard disk is as easy as inserting an SDHC/SD Memory Card into the slot. This saves space you'd otherwise need for storing the recording media, and makes playback easier. And once the data is on the hard disk, it's easy to copy it to a DVD disc.
- 1CCD camera system
- Records to 60 GB built-in Hard Disk Drive or SD memory cards
- 70x optical zoom; 100x digital zoom
- Intelligent Auto Mode automatically selects Face Detection, Scene Selector, Optical Image Stabilizer and Intelligent Contrast Control
- 2.7-inch widescreen touch-panel LCD

Answer: | That was the plan , but I returned machine because all tapes skipped. I purchased another VCR and transferred tapes to DVDs on separate DVD machine. |
Question: | does have hdni output |
Answer: | It depends upon what your cable setup is. When my area switched to digital TV (HD and otherwise), the DMR unit would only record the channel I was watching, so the utility of programming or watching one thing while recording another was lost. I have to use the set top box DVR provided by my cable company. |
