Also, it's plastic therefore not very heavy. She hasn't broken it yet but it wouldn't surprise me if she did. This should be just fine if its this or nothing. If you travel a lot, you may be better off spending more on a nice HD recorder.

Answer:	The base of this item has a socket that will screw onto a standard 1/4 in x20 thread tripod screw — like the screw on a Manfroto model 494 ball head, or the screw on a typical quick-release plate — screws that would otherwise attach to your camera. You might find, however, that attaching the focus rail device to your quick release plate, and then attaching a camera w/heavy macro lens onto the rail would not be stable enough. In short, I would not attach this device to a quick release plate. Hope this helps.
