Answer:	Hi Stephen, thanks for your question. When using the head strap, the screen is a short distance from your eyes (a couple of inches). However, if you're using the Swift as a handheld device then you can hold it several inches away from your face: You don't necessarily need the Swift right up to your eyes for it to work. However, the disadvantage of holding it away from your face like this is the light from the screen will illuminate your face, and make you particularly visible to others around you. So, from that my answer is that they are not designed to be replaceable, though you may be able to find replacement booties that you can glue on in the event they fail for one reason or another.

Answer:	The video head can point down 90-degrees, but it can only point up at 70-degrees. You could get the camera to shoot straight up into the sky with a 90-degree angle if you mount the camera backward on the video head plate so the lens is looking at you and then point the camera down 90-degrees (with the lens then pointing up).

Answer:	All inReach devices have the ability to send a message to someone's email or SMS number. The recipient does not need a special app, just the ability to receive the message and reply. While I have not hiked in the Adirondack Mountains, I know that we have beta testers in that area and can report lots of successful trips in the White Mountains of NH and the mountains of Maine.
Question:	How do you send messages? Is there a keyboard
Answer:	The inReach Mini doesn't have a virtual keyboard like the inReach Explorer+ but it does have a vertical scrolling list of letters, numbers, and symbols. This is similar to the interface you see on a Garmin wearable like the Fenix and it lets you send a custom message to one of your contacts or reply to an incoming message. You can also select and send one of your Quick Text replies that you modified before leaving on your trip. Selecting the Quick Text "Got your message, will reply when I get to camp." will save you the time to type a message and still let people know you heard from them. There are also Preset messages that are created ahead of time with specific text and specific recipients. Send "I'm checking in, everything is okay!" to your list of friends and family that are following along. Last option, the inReach Mini pairs via Bluetooth with the Earthmate app on your smartphone to let you use the touchscreen keyboard on that device, just like you do with your other texting apps. This is a good option if the weather is nice enough to take your phone out.

Answer:	There can be same confusion to the terms used to describe features on the InReach. I will try to define each and show its relevance... LOG INTERVAL: This is an internal feature of the InReach that records where you are at repeating intervals of time. You can set the interval. This log is your record of the journey. On the Explorer+ with its internal map these log points will be used to connect a line showing your locations over time as you travel. There is no cost for Log points. TRACKING POINTS: These are a unique and separate set of location recordings that are SENT via satellite and displayed on your MapShare site to let friends and family watch your progress. Since they are transmitted from your InReach in the backcountry via the Iridium satellites they cost you. The subscription plans have options that offer no included tracking points on the lowest cost plan (so you pay 10 cents for each one sent) to unlimited tracking points included with higher priced plans. LOCATION PINGS: A family member ot friend to whom you have given the password for your MapPage site will see a map. If you do not have tracking turned on they can locate your current position by clicking on a LOCATE button. This sends a signal via satellite to your InReach which respons with your location info. It is then displayed on the MapShare map. These location requests cost each time. They are included or not depending on the plan level you are using. WEYPOINTS: These are specific locations that you use to plan a hike. They are not related to your current location but where you would like to be in the future. They are created by you at home on your computer at your unique setup and planning site. So before your trip you create and save a series of weypoints or places that you wish to visit as you travel. Many people will set weypoints for important locations along there expected hike, Such as cross-trail locations, vista overlooks, and resupply locations or overnight huts. Once created they are saved on the Garmin server in your account. When you sync your InReach they are passed and stored within your InReach so they are available off-grid. Weypoints can also be added from the backcountry while hiking. They are available for your navigation on the InReach Explorer+ or on the EarthMate app on your phone connected to any InReach. Newly created weypoints from the trail will automatically be sent FREE to your Garmin account and show on your MapShare site. There is no cost to create and use weypoints. ROUTES: Like weypoints, you may create routes at home from your setup and planning site. Question:	The description says "Universal ball head design with 2 locks and 360 degree dial..." Are there separate locks for panning and the ball position
Answer:	I have had a 1DSMKii with a 600L lens on it and the ball head held it fine. That said it was more a test per say, not sure I would feel to great on using the head for that particular combo routinely, but in a fix with me right there, it will do. Just need to make sure the lock knob is very tight. Also thought tilt pan is pretty good, not the smoothest head by any means and the tension knob has very little fine tune adjustment.
Question:	Does this allow for vertical photos? I am taking pictures of dresses
Answer:	If you will be doing a lot of "portrait" format photography, like dresses, you really want to get an inexpensive L bracket like the 3 Legged Thing QR11-LG Universal L-Bracket. Then you can easily mount your camera in the verticle orientation on the tripod.
Question:	As a retired photographer I have a number of medium aluminum Bogen tripods..How does this compare
Answer:	I don't have a Bogen although I know their rugged reputation. I have found the Neewer carbon fiber tripod to be very light weight, less than half the weight of my aluminum heavy duty tripod. I am in France now, using it with a Nikon d7100 and some fairly heavy telephoto lenses and it is rock steady. Very easy to use and set up. The quick lock camera mount and shoe are easy to use and has no play in it at all. Really like. Has a nice hard case cylinder with strap for carrying. One of the reasons I got it is that is very compact and fits in my luggage easily for traveling.
Question:	This looks like the MeFoto (by Benro), but much cheaper. However, I'm wary of buying from "knock-off" brands. So, is this as good as the MeFoto
Answer:	Newer makes stuff in all ranges of quality. I have stuff from them that has been fantastic,this being one of them and I wouldn’t call them a knock off co. Either. I’ve bought stuff that cost 3-4 less. So look at how often you need it and how you will use it. I’ve had this thing everywhere and watche my buddy struggle wit a high dollar one. I could buy 5 like mine for what he paid for his. You’ll see all kinds of stuff made by newer with different names on them. They are a rock solid company with super customer service and yeah, they make some inexpensive stuff for people who don’t have big bucks to buy the fancy crap so they can still reach it on a tight budget. I do a lot of Astro with this so some of my work requires heavy gear and this works great.
Question:	Do you get 60x worth of zoom? And is it clear at high power
Answer:	I did not consider the max zoom acceptable. I did not feel the image was clear. It required a tripod for any hope of focus at that distance; even then it was not clear. I returned the them for a refund.

Answer:	They are ok, a telescope would be better for star gazing & planets.

Answer:	Certainly not. The quality of the lenses were really poor on this model so I returned it.

Question:	is there any way to adjust movement speed? mine hardly will move at all
Answer:	Yes, it can be removed, and even taken apart. Some of the fluid heads on these tripods can come a little tight, and there are step-by-step instructions that you can find easily enough online detailing how to loosen them up a bit. You basically just have to loosen the large retaining bolt that runs through the pan mechanism. (Looking at the underside of the Head, you'll see hole which shows the top of a large slotted bolt. I loosened this by a 1/4 turn - which was really tight and required lots of force to budge it). Hope this helps to answer your question!

Answer:	EDIT: corrected typoThis is an FM18 head (WeiFeng FT-6907H). You can use any of 600PL-series plates (sold here on Amazon). Manfrotto sells one and Neewer has a clone, and there's also the Giottos MH621 (QR plate assembly), but if you just want the plate, you can get the https://www.amazon.com/Giottos-MH601-Quick-Release-Plate/dp/B001CO969E (as suggested by Jessica).
