3 best 24mm wide angle lens
A 24mm wide-angle lens is a popular type of camera lens used in photography, particularly with SLR (Single Lens Reflex) cameras. It is known for its wide field of view and is a valuable tool for various photography genres. Here's what you should know about 24mm wide-angle lenses:
Field of View: A 24mm lens offers a wide field of view, allowing you to capture more of the scene in your frame. This makes it ideal for landscape photography, architecture, and situations where you want to fit a lot into a single image.
Perspective: Wide-angle lenses like the 24mm lens can create a sense of depth and perspective in photos. They are great for emphasizing foreground objects while still capturing the background.
Low Light Performance: Many 24mm lenses have wide maximum apertures (e.g., f/1.4, f/2.8), which allows them to perform well in low-light conditions. This feature is useful for indoor photography, astrophotography, or capturing scenes in challenging lighting situations.
Distortion: Some wide-angle lenses, including the 24mm, may exhibit distortion, especially when objects are close to the lens. This can create a unique visual effect but may need correction in post-processing for certain applications.
Versatility: 24mm wide-angle lenses are versatile and can be used for a range of photography styles, including street photography, group portraits, and environmental portraits.
Prime vs. Zoom: There are both prime (fixed focal length) and zoom 24mm lenses available. Prime lenses often have wider apertures, which can be advantageous for creative control and low-light shooting, while zoom lenses offer flexibility by allowing you to change focal lengths.
Depth of Field: With a wide-angle lens, it's easier to achieve a deep depth of field, keeping both close and distant objects in focus. This is useful for landscape and architectural photography.
Filters: Some 24mm lenses have a filter thread that allows you to attach various filters like polarizers, ND filters, or protective UV filters.
Weight and Size: The size and weight of 24mm lenses can vary depending on the brand and type (prime or zoom). Compact prime lenses are typically more lightweight and portable.
Compatibility: Ensure that the 24mm lens you choose is compatible with your camera's mount (e.g., Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony E-mount) before purchasing.
In summary, a 24mm wide-angle lens is a valuable tool for photographers looking to capture expansive scenes, add depth to their compositions, and work in various lighting conditions. Its versatility makes it a popular choice among both amateur and professional photographers for a wide range of photography styles and situations.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this not compatible with a full frame camera such as the Canon 6D |
Answer: | Nope, it doesn't. For wide angle lenses is not common to have that feature. When in doubt, check the coding in the name. If it has an 'IS' it means it has Image Stabilization. |
Question: | I am confused about wide angle lenses...Is this a good lense to use for portrait type pics and/or as a carry-around lense, mainly to take shots of my on vacations, etc? Do wide angle lenses always cause that "distort" effect of making the image/face look disproportional |
Answer: | Yes it will. If you look at the 70D you can see a white dot on the silver ring where you attach lenses. That means it takes both regular EF AND EF-S lenses. It's *the* wide lens for crop sensor DSLRs. |
Question: | Already have 50mm f/1.4 on my T3. For wide-angle should I get this prime(EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM) or the EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM(~$100 more |
Answer: | its a 1.4 so lets in a lot of light, alllowing you to use higher shutter speeds, as a wide angle i use it in daylight so never needed stabilisation. it is an amazingly sharp, accurate lens you will be happy, it is my favorite lens with a a6000 |
Question: | will it work with rebel t5i |
Answer: | Hello, its an e-mount lens, so yes, it will work with the a6500. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this lens compatible with a PENTAX K-r DSLR camera |
Answer: | Yes, you can actually cut and combine 2 pieces together to make the cord hider even wider. |
Question: | Which adaptor do you need for Canon 6D |
Answer: | I have the large - I’m running 2 HDMI, 2 Power, 2 speaker cables and a camera cable through mind and there is plenty of room. If you are going with 2 cables I’d go small for sure. You could always put a wire tie at the top to keep it from sliding down |
Question: | Can you attach a filter? if so what size |
Answer: | Yes. Dust will collect, but it does not attract dust. My install is in the garage for a data rack. Very clean two months later. Easy to wipe clean. Attractive, smooth surface. |
Question: | For astrophotography does this have a hard stop true infinity focus |
Answer: | I believe the math is 130" divided by 12 = 10' 10". But math is hard. You cut it to size. |

Explore your creativity
WIde Fast and Close focusing, the 24mm F1.4 will give you many options for portrait, fashion or journalistic photography
Prime Lens Advantage
Prime lenses are typically sharper than zoom lenses. They are less of a compromise. They don't require the extra glass that moves in order to zoom. As a result, you get a better quality photographs due to less diffraction, which increases with higher number of lens elements inside as in the case of zoom lenses.
The prime lens gathers more light as a direct result of the wider aperture, thus increasing the general quality of the image in low light.
Fixed focal length lenses generally have smaller number of elements inside and no moving elements (except for focus, of course). It means that the amount of distortion is significantly smaller when compared to the focal length equivalent of zoom lenses.
Low Distortion Wide Angle
WIth its low distortion wide angle capability and fast speed, the Rokinon 24mm F1.4 is perfect for architectural photography in low light situations.

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a good lens for a documentary? Using a 70d, Will be filming mainly the inside and outside of buildings and also people (+interviews |
Answer: | It’s an F2 NOT a 1.2. A 1.2 lens is very expensive to make. If it’s any consolation, a 1.2 isn’t that sharp when shot wide open (at 1.2) or even at 1.4. It doesn’t really get great sharpness until 1.8 so this F2 should be great for sharpness. |
Question: | Will this fit my 5D Mark I |
Answer: | No this lens will not get you closer than a 50mm. This is the equivalent of Nikon 35mm DX 1.8 d/g lens. A 50mm on a apsc camera like the 3100 will give you 75mm crop. This will give you a 52mm crop on your 3100. |
Question: | How does this lens compare to the canon ef-s 24mm f/2.8 stm lens aside from one being for crop sensor only? huge price difference |
Answer: | Yes. I used it on my D750. In fact, it has been on it since I have it. I am very happy with the lens and cannot believe it was less than $100... blew my mind. Autofocus is a little slow but no problematically so. I detect some vignetting also, probably more than the more expensive lenses. For me, it satisfied my desire for a wider prime than the 50 mm that I had historically always used. I did have to fine-tune the AF and the amount it needed was near the limits of the camera AF fine tuning settings... beyond that, it is fantastic! |
Question: | What's the difference between this lens and the 24mm f/2.8 stm lens? and which one would be a better lens to take group shots for weddings? thanks |
Answer: | Yes it is. It will fit right on without any adapters |
