Ultimately, you’ve got to put together a kit that will go with your style—of work, of shooting, of storytelling. If you can tell the story with less, don’t drag around extra gear just because a book tells you you should. As in life, you’ll be most successful in photography if you’re true to yourself.

Most smartphones have high-quality cameras built right in. These cameras are getting more advanced with every new model of phone, with better image quality and more photographer control. If it’s always in your pocket, you won’t miss a shot as long as your battery is charged.

Types of Cameras

These small and lightweight cameras are usually about the size of a deck of cards. The lens and flash are built in, leaving you with fewer customization options. But they tend to have larger sensors and more storage capacity than phone cameras, making them a great option if you don’t want to carry anything big or heavy.

Types of Cameras

A mirrorless camera is a digital camera without an internal mirror system. Many of these models have interchangeable lenses, but with a lighter and thinner camera body. Instead of the optical viewfinder, you’ll have an electronic viewfinder to preview your image, where the camera projects what it sees onto an LCD screen on the back of the camera body. With fantastic image quality and nearly silent shooting, mirrorless cameras are on the rise with professional photographers, but at a higher price point, they remain a little beyond what most hobbyists will want to spend.

Types of Cameras

A digital single-lens reflex camera, or DSLR, allows you total control over settings and lenses. You can often buy a starter kit that includes a camera body and a zoom lens that will work in a variety of situations, and gradually add more lenses to your kit over time. If you want to create fine-art photographs in your garden, or dramatic long-lens shots of grizzly bears in golden light, you’re going to want the options and flexibility a DSLR provides.

Built-In Flash

Most compact and DSLR cameras come with a built-in flash unit. These are small and relatively low-powered. In our opinion, this little flash will only cause you trouble, adding dreaded red-eye to your photographs, and making them look more like snapshots. We say, leave it off.

Umbrella

By bouncing the flash into an umbrella, you enlarge the size of your light source and produce much softer light on your subjects. This is ideal for portraits. You can get a similar effect by bouncing your flash off a reflector, white poster board, or even a white wall or ceiling. You can also use a translucent umbrella and have the light pass through it (rather than bounce off it). Both bouncing and diffusing work to soften the light in slightly different ways.

Reflector

A reflector is an object used to reflect light onto a subject. Although you can buy a tool for this purpose, you can also use what’s available to you, like a wall or even a T-shirt. Keep in mind that the color of the object will impact the reflected light. White reflectors bounce neutral light, while silver yields a cool tone and gold gives a warm tone.

Lens Filters

In general, it’s good practice to have a filter on your lens to protect it from dust and scratches. Filters can also impact the image. A polarizing filter will darken skies and reduce glare off of reflective surfaces like water. Filters may also impact your exposure, so choose wisely.These days, most filter effects can be applied relatively easily in your digital darkroom after the fact, so don’t sweat it if a filter isn’t in your budget. Answer:	as long as the camera threaded for a tripod it will fit. As far as "support", it should easily be strong enough to hold about 792 of those cameras, rough estimate of course : )

Answer:	Ball heads are designed for DSLR cameras. I use this with my T7i and have no problems at all even with heavy lenses. I really like the monopod feature as well. The pan tilt is more for video (they say) it really comes down to what you like using. Hope that helps.
Question:	Do the knobs that adjust the legs come loose after a lot of usage
Answer:	yes, it can be removed exposing a 1/4" male thread... you can rotate the head on this tripod clockwise continuously but going in an anticlockwise direction will start to make the head come off.

Answer:	The Canon EF-S 55-250mm will fit and operate on the T7i. Keep in mind that the equivalent focal range translates to 88-400mm which is an excellent range for productive photography use. I use this lens often with my Canon 80D and find it produces excellent images and the AF is fast and accuarate. This lens coupled with a standard range lens and the 100mm 1.8 prime lens makes for a very useful lens kit.

Answer:	STM lenses are better at auto focusing in movie mode.
Question:	Why is this es-f lens so expensive in comparison to es 75-300 and es-f 18-55 combine
Answer:	Your original 18-55 lens that comes with the camera will die after a few years, Cheaply made and I had to resort to my 75-300 and back way up to take pictures. I would have loved to have gotten a higher grade lens, but there are those budget restraints.
Question:	What is the difference between Bulk packagin and Retial packaging
Answer:	Bulk packaging usually has no warranty information, instruction manuals, or labeling. Retail usually has the full graphics on the outside of the box and all the materials included. There can sometimes be warranty issues with bulk-packaged materials, but not always. Bulk is usually sold to merchandisers and repackagers directly or comes from extra or overstock lots. Your mileage may vary.
Question:	Looking for something like a telephoto lense. Will this bring my subject closer ie band member to focus on
Answer:	This is a very versatile lens, on the 18mm setting is kind of wide angle lens. on the 135mm is a zoom lens with a narrow field. Not a true Telephoto, but it provides a decent range where you can carry one lens and cover most of your casual situations. Like being at the park with your dog, or at a soccer game with your kids. For night shots or indoors photography, this is probably not the recommended one, the F stop is simply not low enough to be a "fast" lens. You will need a flash or some other light source. Answer:	I use an ipad with mine and the PromptSmart Pro app on it - it detects the person's voice so if they're reading the script it automatically moves for them. I've also used the bluetooth app with it and you can scroll from your phone. You can shut that feature off as well if they're just reading a bullet point list and ad-libing what they're saying so it won't move. I've filmed sitting right next to and can use my finger on the side of the iPad and scroll it manually as well without my hand being in the shot.

Answer:	I hardly ever use a tripod, but if you do, you can turn off IS in the camera. The easiest way is to assign it to one of the 12 custom settings you get with the FN button. That way you don't have to look for it in a menu.

Answer:	This lens is made for the "full frame" a7 series of cameras. it will attach to and work on the NEX-6, but will not be very effective as a wide zoom because of the size of the sensor in the NEX-6. This lens wil act like a 24-52mm lens which I don't think you want. Sony has an E 10-18mm F4 OSS E-mount Wide Zoom Lens, that is made for the NEX series and current a6000 types. When I had an NEX-7, I had that lens and it was one of the best lenses Sony makes. It's also a lot less expensive, smaller and lighter and it will give you the really wide zoom coverage I believe you're looking for.
