User questions & answers
Question: | What's the best magnifaction for a 100yards range shooting |
Answer: | Hello, the magnifcation is based on different bullet diameter. We use 20X-50X to see different bullets during our testing.Remember that at max 60X magnifaction ,the focal point short.Fine tuning is need since it's real 60X,we know the larger magnifaction, the lower solid of the image.Keep the scope stable, find the target in low magnifaction, magnify the view from low to high magnifaction. |
Question: | Can I use it for bird watching? Is it easy to focus |
Answer: | Dear buyer, thank you for your question.Yes,it's a good gift for bird watching and very easy to focus. You may find the detail instruction in the product detail page.If you have any other issues or suggestions, welcome to contact us and we'll help you address it soon.Thank you. |
Question: | How's the clarity of this scope?Can I use for 100yrads shooting |
Answer: | This scope is very clear and has a beautiful zoom. At 100 yards you should be able to see the impacts as they happin. This is NOT a rifle scope. Its a spotting scope. You dont mount this on your rifle. Just to be clear. It really is a nice scope. You should be able to see a flies backside at 100 yards. |
Question: | Did you buy the scope for hunting? Is the focus ring easy to use?Light weight compact to take |
Answer: | I got it primarily for zeroing in and target use, and it works well for that purpose. Both the zoom and focus rings are easy to use and it is very light to carry. I recently found myself using it to watch a pregnant deer on my property about 100+ yards away. As she turned around, I was able to zoom in and see a very full utter - she was close. Her twin fawns were born the following day. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I cannot see thru the telescope even after taking all caps off it is stil blank image |
Answer: | We are having the same issue. It’s been properly set up but even after allowing it to come to temperatures outside, there is nothing we’re seeing. We’ve adjusted magnification, tried different lens, still blank. And yes, all the caps are off too. I have a curious, yet disappointment kiddo on my hands. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks |
Question: | I can’t get the the telescope to lock in place when we find something to look at, how is this done |
Answer: | You have to use the little knob that looks like a T and also the long handle bar (you turn the handle bar right to tighten and left to loosen. They are both apart of the stand. |
Question: | Is this user friendly as described ? Since im a beginner is this the right fit for me |
Answer: | I set it up in 5 minutes. I observed the Moon, Venus and Cassini twin stars (actually quad) with in 30 minutes on 25 mm. I have never owned a telescope in my life. The instructions are pictures describing what part goes where under them. How to set up your phone is a bit of a mess but I understood and decided to address that later. I was too excited to see Venus, and then sad when it looked like a big star, lol. There is another way to set it up to see even closer images, so I’ll be experimenting. I want a bigger one now... lol 😂. I’m managing my expectations on the 3X with 10mm parts. I just want to see it all! |
Question: | Is this good for photographing an eagle 100 yards away |
Answer: | As long as the Eagle is stationary, yes. This comes with a 10mm and 25mm eyepiece. I think the 10mm would work. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Where can i purchase additional lenses that will fit |
Answer: | Hi, thanks for your question. Using activated charcoal in the fridge should work well to both adsorb odors and the chemicals that cause things like veggies to spoil. Given how fine our powder is, the main challenge will be to keep it inside whatever you use to enclose the charcoal. We'd suggest using very fine cheesecloth or a sachet with a very small openings. As long as the container holding the charcoal remains in one place inside the fridge, it should do the job well without getting any charcoal on other things. We'd love to hear how it works for you, thanks! |
Question: | I literally can see anything how do you work this before everything is a blur using this product |
Answer: | Hi, thanks for your question and for your interest in our 100% USA-sourced hardwood activated charcoal! The best way to answer it is to consider the two main applications of activated charcoal, internal and external. For internal use, you want the charcoal to be adsorbent enough to remove toxins or poisons before they enter the body. All charcoal powder will do this well, if made properly and actually containing the ingredients stated (not guaranteed to be true if made outside the US like coconut and bamboo charcoal are). The same can't be said for external use. Charcoal powder that is milled too fine and/or contains other substances, can be very difficult to work with when applied to the skin or teeth. Basically, the more fine the powder, the harder it will be to remove. While all charcoal powder should be handled carefully, ultra-fine powders can be a nightmare to remove or clean. This is why we selected the fineness of our powder so carefully. We made sure it meets the highest standards for internal use, while not being so fine that it's almost impossible to remove when used on teeth and skin.Hope that helps! |
Question: | Is this telescope tall enough for an adult |
Answer: | I believe so. It says so in the directions under the description of the product. 1/2 teaspoon to a glass of water |
Question: | How can i find object quickly |
Answer: | It can be mixed with Elmer's glue witch is non-toxic you can also add oils or peppermint extract. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this a good telescope for astrophotography (nebula, star clusters, galaxies?) Can I attach a Canon EOS 60D to this using a T mount |
Answer: | Not with a camera that heavy the mount and counter weight couldn't take the load. To do any good deep sky images you need to put the motor drive on it and its also would handle that heavy of a camera. This telescope can see many deep sky object I have seen M81 (Bode's Galaxy) in Ursa Major. You can put on a Celestron Motor Drive and a Orion 52175 Star Shoot Solar System Color Imaging Camera IV and take great pictures. Happy watching! |
Question: | I am planning to travel with this. What would be total weight and dimension of this in a packed box along with tripod and all accessories |
Answer: | This is not a scope I would think that would travel well. First off it is a Jones-Bird Reflector design which means it is difficult and somewhat time consuming to collimate. Travel would just complicate that more. The box is fairly large as well - As far as weight 30.9 x 16.9 x 8.5 inches ; 17 pounds assembled - 30 pounds packaged. You would be better off with a small refractor type scope for travel or a small maksutov-cassegrain around 90mm or so. |
Question: | What will i see with this |
Answer: | There are two types of telescopes and each has its own purpose. If you are just interested in viewing the moon and the other 5 inner planets, buy a good refractor telescope. This type magnifies an image thru lenses. Great for viewing planets (or other daytime scenic viewing/bird watching, etc), and are more forgiving in high light-pollution areas, such as cities. But they basically are useless for viewing other night sky objects. If you are interested in viewing star clusters, galaxies, nebulae, etc, buy a good reflector scope with as wide an aperture as you can afford. Be sure you have a very dark sky available. If you live in or near a mid to large city, you can forget about using it at home. The light pollution precludes any acceptable viewing. These types use mirrors to collect light from a distance object and then projects it into the eyepiece. The larger the mirror (and thus, more expensive), the farther and clearer you will gather light from and be able to view distant objects. These are not very good at viewing the closer planets in any detail and tend to wash them out from eye overexposure. (Which is why so many here say that you will not see the planets in color. They are using reflector scopes to view planets. But even a cheap refractor scope will show you the true colors of Mars, Jupiter and Saturn easily.) of course, they do make telescopes that incorporate the best of both types, but they are quite expensive. |
Question: | What will I be able to see through these |
Answer: | I am a novice user who started using this telescope Early Summer 2017. I was able to observe Jupiter and Saturn with some practice and patience. Luckily they were easy to find in the night sky and followed behind the path of the moon. I could make out the colored bands if Jupiter and could see the rings of Saturn with this telescope. It was blurry but still exhilarating!! I can’t wait until next Summer when I can view Mars! |

PowerSeeker 127EQ
Embark on your voyage across the Universe with the Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ, the perfect choice for beginner astronomers.
Better Viewing
Includes 2 eyepieces: 20mm and 4mm, plus a 3x Barlow lens to triple the power of each. It’s like having four eyepieces—giving you options for viewing a wide range of celestial objects. The Eyepieces and the Barlow Lens can magnify your object between 150x-450x.
Product description
The Celestron Star Pointer Finderscope is the way to go if you want the easiest way possible to locate an object and center it in your eyepiece. A red dot finder, unlike an optical finder, has 1x magnification, displays a super wide field of view, and keeps the sky right side up and left-to-right correct, matching what you see with your unaided eyes. An LED creates a red dot, superimposed on a viewing screen, so you simply point the Star Pointer to the area or object you wish to observe, look through your eyepiece, and if properly aligned, the area in and around place you pointed the red dot will be centered in the field of view. If you like the idea of having some magnification, try installing both a red dot and optical finder on your telescope. Schmidt-Cassegrain and EdgeHD telescopes have multiple mounting bracket holes so you can get the best of both worlds. Just make sure to align both of them correctly, and you’ll get the best use out of each of your finders. How to Align the Star Pointer Finderscope The first time you use your finder, you need to align it. This one-time setup procedure should be done during the day. Take the telescope outside and find an easily recognizable object, such as a streetlight, car license plate, or tall tree. The object should be as far away as possible, but at least a quarter mile away. Move the telescope left and right or up and down so that it is roughly pointing at the object. Look through the telescope using your low power eyepiece and move the telescope until the object you chose lies in the center of the view. Once the object is centered in your eyepiece, turn on the red dot. With your head positioned about a foot behind the finder, look through the round lens of the finder and locate the red dot. Without moving the telescope, use the two adjustment knobs located on the side and underneath the finder. One controls the left-right motion of the dot. The other controls the up-down motion of the dot. Adjust both of these until the red dot appears over the same object you are observing in the eyepiece. Your finder is now aligned and should not require realignment unless it is bumped or dropped. You can even take the finder off the telescope and reattach it while preserving alignment.
- The Star Pointer Finderscope adds “point and look” functionality to any telescope!
- This red dot finder keeps the sky right-side up, matching what you see with your unaided eyes
- The adjustable red dot is bright enough to see day or night
- Attaches to just about any telescope thanks to the small footprint, even works great with astronomical binoculars and spotting scopes
- Includes mounting base and a long-lasting CR2032 3V battery
User questions & answers
Question: | Can this attach to Skywatcher 10 in dobsonian |
Answer: | It comes with several different adapters to connect it. |
Question: | Can this be mounted on a Celestron funscope |
Answer: | It should. I mounted mine on my AstroMaster 70EQ. It works great! |
Question: | Is this mounted by dovetail or otherwise |
Answer: | It has a base that attaches to the scope. Then the site slides into a dove tail mount on the base |
Question: | Does this fit witg meade etx telescopes |
Answer: | It comes with a long and short foot with dovetail, so it should fit any telescope with somewhere to affix it. If you have an available dovetail, great; if you don't want to drill holes just stick it on with some double sided tape - it's very light. Keep in mind though that I hardly use it anymore, because I got a Telrad finder, which makes finding and centering objects way, but way easier. |

User questions & answers
Question: | can this scope be used as a spotting scope for bird watching |
Answer: | Excellent for bird-watching. At 20x, it's fine. At 40x (long distance) you may want a strudier tripod, and because it's daylight, you can look through the smaller 42mm hole (take off the little cap) in the dust cap and that will improve the sharpness at high power. If you want a better spotting scope, simply buy a fancy wide-angle/high-performance 1.25 eyepiece (super-plossl, etc), around 15 mm focal length. |
Question: | You say that any tripod that I use for photography should work. Does that mean that I can screw my tripod head into the telescope |
Answer: | Yes. As others have said, the tripod that comes with the telescope is reallllly flimsy. There are a couple of screw holes on the bottom of the telescope. I was able to attache the telescope to my other tripod using the detachable head on the tripod. |
Question: | I'm a real beginner/plan to purchase this for my son so we can both explore the night sky, etc. Is it really easy to setup?/How long will it take |
Answer: | The scope is really good for beginners and it is easy to set up. As others have said the the included tripod is small for portability and not very stable. If used fully "retracted" on the hood of a car for example, it's OK. I've used it with a Celestron 7.5MM eyepiece and a 2x barlow lens and it can still resolve the rings of Saturn on a clear night. It's not designed for that kind of magnification but for an inexpensive scope with simple lenses I was impressed. I wouldn't recommend trying that though until you have some practice on focus, finding objects in the sky, and purchasing a heavy duty camera tripod. You must remember even with the highest power eyepieces, which you only want to consider using for viewing planets, objects are really small which is due to it's 400mm focal length. Overall it's WAY better than spending 40-50 dollars on a cheap toy at the local discount store. Another good option comparable to this is the Orion 76mm Fun Scope. It's really only for table top use but it's easy to swivel up/down left/right. It is a reflector though and images don't appear as crisp in my opinion. You'll find out that half the quality of a telescope is how good the tripod or mounting set up is. For the price you can't go wrong with this scope. I own several telescopes from computer driven to large reflectors and still grab this for quick views of Orions belt, Jupiter, Saturn, the Moon, and star clusters like the double cluster and the Pleiades. Just to add to an already long answer, I added an inexpensive laser object finder (similar to the Celestron Star Finder) instead of the mostly useless viewfinder. It makes it ten times easier to point the scope at objects you're trying to look at and it doesn't take much modifications to get it screwed to the scope tube or stuck on with foam tape. Your son will thank you! |
Question: | can i see with my left eye |
Answer: | Only if you look at objects on the left....use right eye for objects on the right side....if its straight above you , you can use both eyes. |

Explore some of the fainter Messier objects using the additional light-gathering capabilities of the 130SLT’s five-inch primary mirror. Buy with confidence from the world’s #1 telescope brand, based in California since 1960. You’ll also receive a two-year warranty and unlimited access to technical support from our team of US-based experts.
Amazon.com Celestron’s computerized NexStar 130 SLT adds affordable "Go-To" technology to a compact Newtonian reflector telescope. By using mirrors instead of lenses, the Newtonian optics of the NexStar 130 SLT produce an image nearly five times brighter than the NexStar 60 SLT refractor telescope. The package includes everything except the batteries, and features easy no-tool setup, two good eyepieces, and even includes a student version of "The Sky" planetarium software.
The Newtonian design of the NexStar 130 SLT is optimized to produce bright images over a wide field of view. When I use an optional 32mm Plossl eyepiece, the famous Double Cluster in Perseus looks like a display of celestial fireworks with streamers of stars trailing across the 2 degree field of view. The standard equipment 25mm eyepiece magnifies the image about 26 times, with a wide field of view just right for viewing deep space objects like star clusters or the Orion Nebula.

The NexStar 130 SLT also features Celestron’s patented SkyAlign technology. With SkyAlign I don't need a star chart or a compass to align the telescope, I just enter the date and time then point the telescope at three bright stars. SkyAlign tells me the star names, and allows the telescope to find over 4,000 stars, planets, and galaxies by just pushing a button. The accurate tracking makes it easy to get high power views of the planets, and allowed me to take some great pictures using a Celestron NexImage webcam. I also like the "Two-Star align" and "Solar System align" modes because I can often get the NexStar system up and running while older scopes are still waiting for their alignment stars to appear in he twilight.
Reflector telescopes offer more light gathering power per dollar than any other design, but that value is balanced by the fact that the mirrors may need to be aligned or "collimated" occasionally. Using Celestron’s Collimation Eyepiece

User questions & answers
Question: | Has Celestron fixed the problem of needing to reset the clock each time the telescope is turned off yet? RonR |
Answer: | Greetings, The secret to Mars is a good selection of color filters and knowing what you are looking at for landmarks! It IS possible to view some planetary detail with the 127 Mak on Mars when it is close to Earth, as it will be this 2018 season. With proper (red/orange filters) the polar caps and major landmarks like Syrtis Major, Hellas, etc., can be observed. But you MUST do your homework first as to what side of mars is being displayed, and knowing your landmarks on the planet by studying Martian maps. A well-trained eye is vital. Steve Franks |
Question: | What do you consider must have accessories for this scope? I have the moon filter |
Answer: | The AstroMaster 80AZS is a refractor telescope design. Its Focal Ratio is f/5, and its Focal Length is 400mm (15.74"). |
Question: | Hi, I have been able to see Mars today but could not get any details. How can I focus more? I have all the kits with me |
Answer: | This was purchased as a gift for a friend so I have not personally used it. |
Question: | Please share what details can be seen of Saturn and Jupiter. Can the red spot, bands and rings be clearly resolved |
Answer: | A longer 90mm scope is better for planets and moon, and needs a beefier mount with slo-mo controls. A shorter scope can use the same mount as the 70mm, has a wider field of view which is good for star clusters and nebulae - dimmer objects. There are many more star clusters than there are planets. Both are good for the sun, the 80 is better for comets. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you attach a camera to this telescope |
Answer: | How do get info on camera attachment |
Question: | Is it infrared |
Answer: | Nope |
Question: | Is it equipped for astrophotography |
Answer: | You can't use this to take long astronomic exposures because the planet or nebula (or whatever) will move during the exposure. To take long exposures, you need two things: an equatorial mount and a clock drive. However, you can take great shots of the moon or other really bright object. The moon is so bright, a fast shutter speed works fine. |
Question: | Is this telescope easy to travel with |
Answer: | Not really. It needs a good size case for it. Plus I would not trust airport to cate for it. If in your car or RV it would fair much better. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this telescope fit for kids |
Answer: | Yes, the portable telescope has a universal phone adapter. It also comes with a button shutter for capturing image at anytime. |
Question: | Does this telescopes come with a moon filter |
Answer: | You can avoid this by either spending $99 extra on Celestron's wifi module, or by tethering the handset through its USB plug to a laptop. Then you can save some time on setup by syncing your local time and GPS location to the scope on startup, with the added advantage of using planetarium software like SkySafari to select 10x more targets with a point and click. Basically controlling your scope with the laptop or phone. |
Question: | Can you connect this to a dslr camera using this adapter? https://www.amazon.com/dp/b013did11a/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_bibzfbwgkaahn?psc |
Answer: | With the 130 SLT Newtonian, you absolutely need a collimator. Mine needed to be collimated before its first use. Use a laser collimator to make things go easy and you will have the scope collimated in just a few minutes. I bought the SVBONY Laser Collimator 1.25'' Metal with 2" Adapter but there are others that work equally well. |
Question: | Can I attach my phone to the telescope |
Answer: | Details on planets depend on several things: Telescope alignment, quality of eyepieces, distance to the planet, and the planet itself. If you don't have a laser collimator, get one. They are well worth the $50-$70. While the secondary on this scope will stay very nicely in place, the primary (being heavier among other things) will need regular alignment and a laser collimator makes this less than a 5 minute job.The eyepieces that come with this scope aren't the best. If you want to do decent planetary viewing, get a good 6mm eyepiece. (Expect to spend at least $100, and read reviews from users to get the best bang for your buck.)While you'll get some good views of Saturn and Venus, and some really excellent views of Jupiter, Mars (and Mercury) generally don't show much detail. Further, right now, Mars is a great distance away from us and getting farther away each day. Every planet will give the best views when it is closest to us with Mars and Venus showing the biggest improvements when closest. When a planet rises at sunset, it is closest, or at "opposition." This also puts the plent highest above the horizonn around midnight, but gives good views starting around 9 PM.Your best view of Mars will come again on May 22, 2016. Jupiter Feb 6th, 2015, and Saturn on May 23rd, 2015. But note even then, Mars will not yield much detail beyand a distinctly orange disk and a definite whiteish area at the pole. When searching for eyepieces, you might also want to investigate a good 14-16mm eyepiece plus a 10% transmission filter for really great lunar views! For solar/sunspot viewing, you will need a special filter that fits over the front of the telescope tube. |
